As we approach the end of 2012 we thought we'd try to find out our Best Shows of 2012. Lots of other TV/Entertainment sites do this, but they normally just have the opinion of 1 of their Editors.
As we're different and run by real fans, we thought we'd ask our team to pick their Top 5 Shows of 2012 to try and get a more democratic ranking.
We asked all our team at SpoilerTV to pick their Top 5 Shows of 2012 and based on the picks we ranked the shows by number of picks.
You can see the table of the top 5 shows below.
Below is the full table of picks for each of the team so you can see how each of us voted.
And here is the full table that ranks all the shows by the number of picks.

Let us know what your top 5 Shows for 2012 were in the comments below.
Thanks for this, Andy!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I knew I missed something obvious, SHERLOCK! Definitely one of my favorites of the year;)
Thanks Andy for doing this :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered which TV Show my fellas love...
Definitely some surprising choices to say the least.
ReplyDeleteInteresting
ReplyDeleteMy top 5 of 2012
1-The Walking Dead
2-Once Upon A Time
3-Glee
4-New Girl
5-2 Broke Girls
I did not watch a lot of TV in 2012 so I didnt have much to chose from but these were the shows that kept me the most entertained during the year.
I Love Homeland!
ReplyDeleteWell, a few of you have excellent taste. lol
ReplyDeleteI have never watched 4 of the shows in the Top 5.
ReplyDeleteThat was a surprising outcome, tho.
Wow! The fact that it's not all cable shows just boosted my confidence in this site up several notches! People who watch a range of show types and genres, hurrah! That you guys came up with a list that sees quality in both Homeland & Castle tells me you guys DO watch TV! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat top 5.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I was the only person to vote for Falling Skies lol
Castle is the Best,Always!!
ReplyDeleteCriminal Minds
ReplyDeleteNCIS: LA
Hawaii Five-0
NCIS
Arrow
Great top 5. I watch all of them!
ReplyDeleteI agree. :) have a nice year.
ReplyDeleteSpoilerTV have a good taste, POI in third :D
ReplyDeletethat's a great mix between cable shows and other shows and I love it! I'm tired of seeing cable shows win everything or bieng the only ones nominated for awards.... I mean I love them but they're not always the best
ReplyDeleteMy top 5 for 2012
1 - Once Upon A Time
2 - Modern Family - Park and Recs - How I Met Your Mother
3 - The Vampire Diaries
4 - The Good Wife
5 - Grey's Anatomy - Arrow
(My top 5) - 1. Castle, 2. Chicago Fire, 3. Arrow, 4. Law & Order SVU, 5. Elementary
ReplyDeleteMy top 5 shows this year is:
ReplyDelete1. Justified
2. Game of Thrones
3. Homeland
4. Sons of Anarchy
5. The Walking Dead
Merry Christmas and thank for all the spoilers! It is soooo appriciated
im pleased that at least one of my shows made the top 5 and it was the # show!!!
ReplyDeleteI must say for 2013 you guys should watch House of Lies!!!! It is so freaking hilarious!!! Don Cheadle is awesome!!!!
Mine are:
ReplyDelete01 Breaking Bad
02 Parks and Recreation
03 Fringe
04 Justified
05 Homeland
Finally somebody who mentions Elementary! I was surprised to see it so far down the list. It's easily my favorite new show this year. Although I enjoy Arrow as well.
ReplyDeleteFringe and Breaking Bad take first places, can't choose between them. (Altough, Fringe would be favourite of mine)
ReplyDeleteThen:
3. Homeland
4. Person of Interest
5. The Mentalist
Breaking Bad > Homeland >>> Fringe >>> Person of Interest > The Killing/Sherlock
ReplyDeleteHey, that's awesome.
ReplyDeleteI did not expect Homeland to be #1 at all, and I surely did not expect Breaking Bad to tie at the 6th place with SPN & GoT, ahead of HIMYM & Fringe. All hail the King !
Reducing our list down to only five shows is tough, and so is choosing between putting forward lesser-known shows or including shows you know many people will vote for (about that, it's too bad how little love Raising Hope (1), Justified (1), Southland (0) & SoA (0) received).
Looks like I'm the only one who gave some love to Boss. If you love compelling political dramas, perfect directing/photography (Gus Van Sant directed the pilot and produces the show, and his 'style' is kept throughout), complex anti-heroes and dantesque performances (Kelsey Grammer is impeccable), you should watch all 18 episodes. If only the show had been on HBO, it would have been more than a critics darling, people would have actually watched it.
I see that not many of us have chosen comedies in our top 5 (HIMYM, TBBT, Modern Family, Parks & Rec and Community are the only ones above a single point). Well, at least other people voted for Community and Parks & Rec, even if they don't reach the top.
Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Person of Interest, Revenge & Arrow. I watch more shows on CW than any other network.
ReplyDeleteThat was exceptionally difficult to reduce my list to 5 shows and of course 5 other shows could've easily filled the slots as well, but I daresay we overall did a great job picking out shows, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad should have been way higher!
ReplyDeleteCastle is the best! Made my whole year a happy one.
ReplyDeleteYes thank you spoilertv for picking Castle, I know its not a cable tv show and that its a dramady; but it truly is a great show, excellent quality overall! As for the other shows, POI and Scandal are top of my list too, such good shows!
ReplyDeleteDid not expect Elementary or Revolution to be anywhere near as high as they are, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad just out of the Top 5!
ReplyDeleteFor me...
1. Breaking Bad
2. Boardwalk Empire
3. Game of Thrones
4. The Walking Dead
5. Justified
Game of Thrones dropped a spot from last year for me, Boardwalk Empire was up a spot, The Walking Dead made a huge leap, and Homeland had a huge dropout of my Top 5 and maybe Top 10..
POI is my top choice. Breaking Bad and Downtown Abbey get some votes. Homeland is overrated.
ReplyDeleteReally? We only get to say 5? Oh, alright ;)
ReplyDelete1. Castle
2. Once Upon a Time
3. NCIS
4. Parenthood
5. The Mentalist
I have several more to add but I won't. That would be one very long, multi-tie number 5 :P
Great to see the team picking their favorite shows, not just one person, it's more reliable. And i'm kind of surprised so many people chosing Person of Interest, I knew it was good and popular but not as much. Maybe I should check it if I have time.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I don't really have my personal top 5 this year, I just know that Scandal would be first, followed by Castle and the rest is kind of random for me.
In the end the top 5 were pretty clear cut, but it's great to see the variety in choice even if more than half of the shows got just one vote.
ReplyDelete@DarkUFO it would be great if you could put up a spreadsheet with 5 points for each vote for #1, 4 for #2, 3 for #3 etc
I liked Falling Skies a lot. But hard to choose 5 shows. I had to leave out Homeland :(
ReplyDeleteKinda surprised Breaking Bad didn't make the cut. But the top 5 are all awesome..
ReplyDeleteTough to decide. I personally have a Top 10 Favorite Shows list from all time and that are currently on the air, but they may not necessarily have had the strongest 2012 years. I guess this would be my list of Top Shows for 2012 specifically:
ReplyDelete1. Game of Thrones
2. Fringe
3. Dexter
4. The Walking Dead
5. Person of Interest
And it pains me to leave off one of my favorite shows (Community), but these 5 just shined this year. Burn Notice, Parks & Rec, and Breaking Bad would also be up there. Dang, one more and I'm almost at 10, so let's go with... Justified. So let's see, because I'm unable to just pick 5 without fretting, here's a Top 10 of 2012.
1. Game of Thrones
2. Fringe
3. Dexter
4. The Walking Dead
5. Person of Interest
6. Community
7. Breaking Bad
8. Burn Notice
9. Parks & Rec
10. Justified
POI is one of the best and top shows currently on TV. I'm still surprised that most people didn't expect it to be very popular last year. I predicted its popularity from the very beginning. Take CSI and 24 and cross them. That's what POI basically is, with one difference: unlike CSI, POI is crime prevention, not crime solving. It's one of 3 shows that I never miss. The other 2 are H50 and Big Bang Theory.
ReplyDeleteFor me its
ReplyDelete1. Supernatural
2. Person Of Interest
3. Once Upon A Time
4. Heartland
5. Vampire Diaries
My number 1 is easy to pick, the other 4 a little harder, but here it is:
ReplyDelete1 - Castle
2- Revenge
3 - Criminal Minds
4 - How I Met Your Mother
5 - Bones
And Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everybody:)
Only one person picked Nikita? Travesty!
ReplyDeleteNice to see Homeland win, though - based on Season 1 and the early episodes of Season 2, at least, it's well-deserved. I like PoI too.
WOOO! Castle's in the top 5! :D
ReplyDelete1. COMMUNITY (by so much, nothing else can compare to it)
ReplyDelete2. Once Upon a Time
3. New Girl
4. How I Met Your Mother
5.Mad Men
I usually watch 7 of the 20 top choices 4 of which are in the top 5 but I am not enthusiastic about OUT and Castle is nice but that's all. Homeland and POI are well deserved. I regret the absence of GOT and Newsroom. Last, I suggest two different lists: one for one hour shows and other for sitcoms. The comparison is really hard in terms of production, teleplay, etc.
ReplyDeleteI watched the top 4 shows (except Castle). My taste is not much different from SpoilerTV apparently.
ReplyDeleteMy top 5 would be like this:
1. The Walking Dead
2. How I Met Your Mother
3. Sherlock
4. Once Upon a Time
5. The Big Bang Theory
:)
Yeah, I was surprised too. It turned out a very nice show. I thought it was more popular, but well, what can we do? xD
ReplyDeleteMy Top ten shows would be like this
ReplyDelete1. The Walking dead
2. Game of thrones
3. Homeland
4. Once Upon a time
5. The Big Bang Theory
