Supernatural - Favorite Song - 3B - Polls
20 Dec 2012
Polls SupernaturalYesterday's polls were complete opposites. Carry on Wayward Son won by 89% over Knockin' on Heaven's Door but Eye of the Tiger just snuck past Wanted Dead or Alive by 6 votes. If trends remain, it will be gone in the next round as Carry on Wayward Son decimates all its competition. Today will be the hardest voting for me because 3 of the 4 songs are in my top 5. I hope both polls are closer than they have been.
We also continue our search for the 16 song-to-scene wildcard positions. Daily reminder - this is not which song you like best or which scene you like best. It's the song that best matches the scene in lyrics and instrumentals. Again you can vote for up to 5 choices. We will have 3 more general rounds after today's and then narrow the winners down to 16 on Christmas Eve. I will however be taking Christmas off from poll creating. We should start the song-to-scene contest on December 26. Post any questions below.
Songs Still in Contest:
1. Carry On Wayward Son
2. Renegade
3. Back in Black
4. Eye of the Tiger
5. Wanted Dead or Alive
6. O Death
7. Don't Fear the Reaper
9. Knockin' On Heaven's Door

In all honesty, I don't consider most of these anything special when it comes to matching the song to the scene. Yes some of the scenes are awesome. Yes, some of the songs are awesome. Sometimes both are awesome, but that doesn't mean that the song is integral to the scene. Most of these could be interchanged with half a dozen songs. I only have 2 votes today.
ReplyDeleteCold as Ice - I am not a big fan of this song, which matters not one jot in the song-to-scene poll thankfully. I still think it was perfect. Ellen was an arctic snowstorm in that scene and I still laugh when it comes on because it is the perfect song for that scene.
Dear Mr. Fantasy - This one gets my vote based on the lyrics, which are all about swallowing all the bad feelings and concentrating on going through the motions - a perfect match to what Dean was trying to do after Frank's "professional" speech.
1. Renegade vs Don't Fear the Reaper is a tough one for me. Love both songs. I think I'll wait until tomorrow to vote on this one.
ReplyDelete2. Back in Black by far. For me O Death is a snippet of a song that is absolutely brilliant for the song-to-scene contest but nothing special without the context of Supernatural. In contrast, Back in Black is one of my very favorite AC/DC songs.
Renegade over Don't fear the Reaper. I love both but would not go crazy if Renegade were on repeat for 24 hours and I don't think I can say the same about Reaper.
ReplyDeleteBack in Black EASY over O Death. It's an infinitely better song in general.
I only voted for four song to scenes, as I could only justify my vote for the ones I picked.
1. Crossroad Blues. I don't particularly like the song, at all, but it's perfect for the scene.
2.Don't Look Back - speaks volumes about the mental state of the bro's, or Dean at least. His load has been lightened as Azazel is dead...he's moving forward. No looking back. It's a favorite of mine!
3.Dream a Little Dream - okay this one is very on the nose, but c'mon! It's also perfect. I've loved this song since forever and I was thrilled to hear it on the show.
4. Foreplay/Long Time - I'm slightly (or rabidly) obsessive over this Boston tune...like a lot. It's not necessarily related at all to the scene (recap) it's played over, but good Lord I LOVE IT. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Had to vote for it. :D
haha! I felt the same about today's batch, but came up with different votes (and only four - though now I wish I had voted for Cold as Ice also). Ah well!
ReplyDeleteRenegade more than Don't Fear the Reaper. I like both songs, but I chose O Death.
ReplyDeleteOkay this is difficult. I chose.Crossroad Blues because it was perfect for the scene. Dear Mr. Fantasy because Dean was trying to live in a fantasy by smiling to make it day by day. It was poignant. Do You Love Me was such a shock for the scene and it became the perfect song for it. Dream a Little Dream of Me should have prepared us for seasons 5 and 6. Dean fantasized about Lisa more than just wanting to have a final fling with her. Bless his heart. He meant it when he told her that when he thought of being happy he saw himself with Ben and her. Feel Alright. Dean thought he had things lined out and it would typical of him to sing and the song would have been perfect. He felt he had done all he could. He got Sam out of the way and Benny was leaving.
Don't fear The Reaper
ReplyDeleteBack In Black. :)
X
Cold As Ice- Ellen really was, so it fits perfectly.:)
Crossroad Blues- Perfect for the scene.
Don't Look Back- The boys could only go forward. The song is adapt.
Dream A Little Dream of Me- What better song for that moment although I didn't think Lisa was so present in Dean's dreams!
Every Rose Has It's Thorns- I find it to be logical. The girl is the rose and the spell the thorn
Renegade and Back in Black
ReplyDeleteI just can't even, 'Fell On Black Days' and the bad penny montage. Great song, great band, crappy episode and even crappier useless montage! Why!!!
ReplyDelete1. Renegade
ReplyDelete2. Black In Black- no contest
That was easy. :D
Now The Tough Part- The Nominations today started easy for me then got REALLY hard
1. Crossroad Blues- Obviously fit the scene to a T.
2. Dear Mr. Fantasy- Fit the scene of Dean trying to follow Frank's advice perfectly.
3. Don't Look Back- John's spirit was out of Hell and apparently at rest, the mission to kill Azazel was complete, that chapter of the Winchesters lives was over. The trunk closing was like in the Pilot. It felt like moving on. The boys could move on. The song was great for the scene.
This is where it got tough....
4. Cold As Ice - Fit the scene of Ellen being furious. Dean especially could feel the cold. lol
5. Cherry Pie- Hey, it fits a guy's stripper dream well
My top 4 I think fit really well. I had those two songs in my top 4 too.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It was a waste of the song.
