    We have to say the addition of vampire Benny was a fantastic choice. It gives us viewers a chance to experience another side of Dean who normally kills all monsters without giving it a second thought. Now he shares this deep bond with one because both of them went through hell in purgatory and suddenly things have changed for him. We are really excited about "Citizen Fang" and also love the apparent tension between the brothers. It will make for a thrilling episode all around.

    Yes, it's somewhat funny how things change. Who would have thought that Dean would ever befriend a vampire? It was easier to imagine Sam being that person, but now the writers have added such an interesting twist to the whole story line which gives us another point of view of his thinking after he returned from purgatory.

    Agree with everything except more tension between the brothers being a good thing. Benny is my favorite new thing this season. Here's hoping he won't turn evil on Wednesday. Of course I should probably add that I hope he's still alive after Wednesday.

    If that vampire ends up being trustworthy and doesn't kill humans, I don't see it any different than being friends with an angel given how angels turned out to be worse than demons.

    i mean this fight that dean complain that sam cut out off hunting bussines when dean befriended a vampire dean cant complain that sam quit hunting bussines when his friend is a vampire:))

    Didn't Sam beg Dean to just let Lenore walk away back in S2? Didn't Sam beg Dean not to kill Ruby back in S3? Didn't Sam beg Dean just to let Amy walk away back in S7? Sam is such a hypocrite.

    I was going to ignore the comment above you, but to read this suggestion that Sam doesn't care about saving people or doing the right thing - this is such a gross mischaracterization of Sam. Yes, Sam has on rare occasions argued for letting a monster go (as has Dean), but far more times Sam has came down on the side of killing sympathetic monsters because it needed to be done. Examples: Heart, the blond vampire in Fresh Blood, the tortured ghost in Yellow Fever, the ghost of his bullied friend in After School Special, the demon-possessed nurse in Lucifer Rising, Mannequin 3 (I think that one was taken out of their hands, but they didn't feel good about the death), Dean's kid in The Slice Girls, ghost Bobby.


    And in this case, I don't know where you both heard that Sam decided that Benny should be killed even if he isn't hunting humans. All I've read is that Sam heard about mysterious deaths in Benny's home town so Sam asked Martin to investigate to see if Benny was in fact a threat.

    I did not say I heard Sam wants to kill Benny, just that all the times he wanted to let a monster walk, that HAD killed people. If Benny is killing then yes he needs to be killed. All the ones you mentioned were killers and needed to be put down or were already dead..ghost.

    I think it was implied that Benny killed when he was a vampirate with his group. This question is, and always has been, whether the monster can be trusted to not be be a threat in the future. That is what Sam is trying to find out by sending Martin to investigate. You agreed with a comment that called Sam a hypocrite for looking into whether Benny was currently killing.


    The first thing he did with Amy was follow her to investigate whether she was killing. When he found she was, he was prepared to kill her until she made a case about her reasons (her son) and how she had found a way to live without killing except in that rare occasion when her son was near death. Her son was getting better, and he believed that she wouldn't be a threat in the future, so he gave her another chance.

    Yes I still say Sam is a hypocrite, he sucked blood for months, chose a Demon over Dean, but is down on Dean over Benny. I am not ragging on Sam, just pointing out he has done worse and don't know if Benny has killed anyone since he has been out...Amy was killing and he let her go.

    Sam sucked blood for months. He chose to use his powers to kill Lilith and prevent the apocalypse over not using his powers and letting Dean fight Lilith (it was never about choosing a demon over Dean - that was just Dean's low self-esteem talking). Dean chose to bargain with a crossroads demon and sell his soul over allowing Sam to have a natural death. Dean chose to torture souls and Hell over being tortured in Hell, and came to enjoy it. Dean pulls out his knife to torture demons and their human hosts whenever the demon has something he wants. Cas chose to suck down millions of monster souls, appoint himself God, and kill scores of humans and thousands of angels. None of these characters are without guilt.


    But I'm not sure why any of this makes Sam a hypocrite for questioning whether Benny is as innocent as he claims or being annoyed that Dean won't stop hassling him over his choice of leaving hunting.

    Why are you so anxious to bash Sam? You watched the show. You know that the goal of both Sam and Dean in season 4 was to kill Lilith. That seemed like the best call for the information they had to work with at the time.

    I agree with much of what you have said previously but to me Sam did chose Ruby over Dean and more than once. That wasn't just Dean's self-esteem talking in my view and by the end I never got the impression that Sam was just using Ruby until Lilith died and then was going to kill or cut ties with Ruby afterwards. They seemed like a partnership to me, especially since she was his basic source for a fix.

    I don't disagree with most of that. I think Ruby offered a means to an end that Sam had wanted since season 3 (to learn to use his powers), and he formed a partnership with her and grew to care about her, and even trust her a little. But I don't think that implies Sam chose Ruby over Dean any more than Dean working with Cas on occasion implies that Dean chose Cas over Sam.
