Supernatural - Best Episode Title - Round 1 - Poll

Dec 27, 2012

Welcome to the Best Supernatural Episode Title contest. This one is going to be short - merely a way to tide over the time until the song-to-scene contest is ready to go. Just a bit of clarification though since we did the nominations way back in August for this poll. Best episode title means exactly that - the best title. It in NO WAY takes into consideration the contents of the episode or whether that episode was any good or not. My favorite title is actually an episode in my worst 30 list. So throw out everything that happened in the episode and happy voting!

  1. Hopefully this will be a fun little contest before the intense debate of best song-to-scene begins. Please remember that this has nothing to do with the episode quality just the title.

    My picks:

The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - a really fun title

All Hell Breaks Loose - because it did, figuratively and literally

Lazarus Rising - this one was hard because I like both titles - this one was great foreshadowing

Swan Song - clever choice from Kripke for his last episode

What is and What Should Never Be - I really hate the other title. This will however be the last time I vote for this one, my favorite episode, in this contest.

????? - these are two of the best titles we've ever had so I'm going to think more on it

Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester - great parody of a pivotal preteen book

The Monster at the End of This Book - I really do NOT like this episode but it is by far the best title in my opinion. Love, love, love the Sesame Street tie in.

  2. It feels like this contest is gonna be won by the empty, funny and "meta" joke titles like the one with dungeons and dragons

  3. The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - Fun title. Makes me smile.

All Hell Breaks Loose - This was more an against than a for. It's a classic.

Lazarus Rising - I just like the imagery and the way this sounds

Dark Side of the Moon - classic! Worked for the song/album works for the tv show

What is and What Should Never Be - this was a difficult choice.

Live Free or Twihard - I am so NOT a Twilight fan but Twi-ing this title was awesome.

Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester - Not a major fan of either in this pair.

The Monster at the End of this Book - another of my favs. I just like it.

  4. Absolutely. It's a fun little contest and the meta titles and allusions will take it all if the nominations are any judge.

  7. I really like The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons tattoo, but On the Head of a Pin, is my favorite title of the whole show. I'm gonna be sad to see it gone so soon.

  10. Without a doubt my first pick is going to lose, but I love it and going with it anyway...On The Head of a Pin.
    All Hell Breaks Loose
    Lazarus Rising
Dark Side Of The Moon, this was hard had to fight to keep from voting for my favorite ep.
Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things
Live Free or Twihard, not a sparkle vampire fan, but this title makes me smile and I love the Die Hard movies.
Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester
The Monster at the End of This Book

  11. I agree with the two that are best titles the show ever had. I finally went with Live Free or Twihard. I really dislike Twilight and the show was such a poke at the books and movies. The title was so much fun.

  12. - Dark side of the moon
    - Are you there God, it's me, Dean Winchester
    - The monster at the end of this book
    - I believe the children are our future
    - Live free or Twihard
    - The man who would be king
    - How to win friends and influence monsters
    - Time after time
    - The girl with the dungeons and dragons tattoo

  13. What is with voting against On the Head of a Pin? It brings in the old philosophical question about angels who dance etc.. and torture and betrayal and is the first glimpse of how nasty the "good" angels really are. Dragaons is so lame and easy in comparison. I'm really surprised that's winning.

  14. I think some, if not most, of the votes for "Dragons" is just because Felicia Day is in the episode.

  15. On the head of a pin is one of my favorites for the reason you say. I think the Dragon is because of the movie the girl with the dragon tattoo.

  16. Can anyone answer what The French Mistake title had to do with the episode? I remember the speculation about it being a play on a movie title, but that all seemed to have nothing to do with the episode plot.

  17. arent we voting for the title not the actual episode?

    ReplyDelete
  18. But it would be a better title if there was also some profound connection to the actual meaning of the episode, than if it were just clever for its own sake.

  19. Fabulous. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

  20. This does not have anything to do with the episode at all. Just which title you like best. The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo is a fun title while on the Head of a Pin is more weird.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes, you are exactly right. This is another time when people need to separate their feelings about the episode to vote just like in song-to-scene, coming up next.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The Girl with the D & D Tattoo came into the contest as the overwhelming favorite in nominations. On the Head of a Pin has a tough road ahead of it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I also ended up going with this one for the same reason. I dislike Twilight as much as the brothers and it was fun to do some gentle poking at it.

  24. what made me shock is.. Swan Song lost to Dark side of the moon????

    ReplyDelete
  25. I voted for it because it was a much more fun title. Felicia Day had nothing to do with it although I am glad #Supernatural got such a big get and she turned out to be a fun character. Glad she is coming back.

  26. Yeah, I love the ep Swan Song, but like the title Dark better. I was torn over several because I like the ep better for the other title, but I will vote for them in favorite ep poll.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am a bit surprised at this too since Swan Song was such a clever title for Kripke's last episode as showrunner. Still Dark Side of the Moon did very well in the nominating stage so I shouldn't be too surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah! That's exactly what best title should be. Not taking into consideration what the episode is just the title.
