-Ratings Breakdown:
Minus Dancing With the Stars on ABC (which is currently in between seasons), CBS led the Monday overnights with a healthy 28 percent advantage over second-place NBC. But the home of The Voice could still be the network to beat among adults 18-49.
The Voice opened for NBC with a dominant 8.0 rating/12 share in the overnights from 8-9 p.m., which topped the evening. Next was the series-premiere of Howie Mandel-hosted game show Take It All at a second-place 4.3/ 7 from 9-10 p.m., which dropped by a hefty 47 percent from the 8:30 p.m. portion of The Voice (8.1/12). Comparably, Take It All, which is scheduled in the 9 p.m. hour this week through Friday, opened 16 percent below year-ago occupant Fear Factor (5.1/ 8 on 12/11/11). The truer test will come, of course, when the demos are released. Stay tuned.
At 10 p.m. on NBC was holiday special Michael Buble: Home for the Holidays at a second-place 4.0/ 6 at 10 p.m., which was 26 percent below week-ago special Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas (5.4/ 9 on Dec. 3).
Over at CBS, How I Met Your Mother kicked-off the night with a healthy 6.3/10 in the overnights at 8 p.m., followed by an encore telecast of The Big Bang Theory at a 6.6/10 at 8:30 p.m., which is a notable improvement over former failed time period occupant Partners. Both finished a comfortable second behind The Voice on NBC. As a reminder, benchwarmer Rules of Engagement moves into the Monday 8:30 p.m. time period on CBS on February 4.
Next on the Eye net were two original episodes of 2 Broke Girls (9 p.m. #1: 7.5/11; 9:30 p.m.: #1, 7.2/11), which dipped by 19 percent, on average, from the year-ago combination of Two and a Half Men (9.9/15 on 12/12/11) and Mike & Molly (8.3/14). And three year-old Hawaii Five-O capped off the evening with a dominant 6.8/11 at 10 p.m., which was just seven percent below the 7.3/12 one year earlier.
Elsewhere, two more editions of short-flight returnee Extreme Makeover: Home Edition could not compete on ABC with a fourth-place finish at both 8 p.m. (3.1/ 5) and 9 p.m. (3.3/ 5). An encore telecast of Castle closed the night for the alphabet network with a third-place 3.5/ 6 at 10 p.m.
On Fox, the American Country Awards 2012 was a bust at a 3.4/ 5 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. And The CW limped along with 90210 (#5: 1.0/ 2) and Gossip Girl (#5: 0.9/ 1), which concludes with a two-hour installment next Monday.

It's been great for HIMYM' ratings the last two week.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for HIMYM and H50!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for Hawaii Five-0!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOn one site it said we she take the numbers for H50 with a grain of salt as it had no competition. Why do they do that to a great show ..my favorite show!!!Im Happy for Hawaii five-0
ReplyDeleteNothing against H50, but yesterday they had zero competition (no Castle new episode, nothing in NBC) and even with a lead-in of 3.9 they ended at 2.7... in my eyes, it´s not that great, but maybe that´s just me)...
ReplyDeleteAnd, due to football, I don´t know if those are the real numbers...
Yep, we'll update the Final Adjusted numbers in our Episode Database ( http://www.stvplus.com) when they are released later tonight/tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly low numbers for H50 as they had no competition... This has me worried.
ReplyDeletepeople are just full of hate honey, dont give them the chance to make us question our fav show, H50 is a great show to hell with their hate comments
ReplyDeleteThis was easily the best episode of HIMYM this season, and deserved such high ratings.
ReplyDeleteCBS and ABC were preemted
ReplyDeleteA great ep of HIMYM and great ratings! Nothing better...
ReplyDeleteThey might be talking strictly numbers, not about the show itself. But you do have to realize that Castle was a repeat, and Revolution is on hiatus. That said, enjoy H50 and don't let other comments about it bother you! Besides the numbers are still good enough right now,i doubt the show is going anywhere. :)
ReplyDeleteWohoo Hawaii Five-0!! :D
ReplyDeleteLike I have been saying the last few weeks does anybody read what I said the numbers are always good in teh 2nd half like with last season it did go up int he 2nd half after DWTS. I'm happy but was really surprised it thrased Castle by half
ReplyDeleteLucy don't listen to the Castle fans that hate Five-0 at least we have more better written storylines and figure out the case faster than they can and doesn't have a relationship with somebody that wont probably last long and is a lot like Bones
So, you didn´t even noticed that Castle is in a hiatus and the episode aired was a rerun? Just saying, if you want to bash on Castle at least get your facts right!
ReplyDeleteIMO, Castle is way better than H50, your´s is no, that´s ok. But if you figure out the case faster, don´t you think that´s because the storyline isn´t that good? And I´m not saying that it isn´t, just pointing that your argument on that is not a very valid one...
