-Ratings Breakdown:
Minus Dancing With the Stars on ABC (which is currently in between seasons), CBS led the Monday overnights with a healthy 28 percent advantage over second-place NBC. But the home of The Voice could still be the network to beat among adults 18-49.

The Voice opened for NBC with a dominant 8.0 rating/12 share in the overnights from 8-9 p.m., which topped the evening. Next was the series-premiere of Howie Mandel-hosted game show Take It All at a second-place 4.3/ 7 from 9-10 p.m., which dropped by a hefty 47 percent from the 8:30 p.m. portion of The Voice (8.1/12). Comparably, Take It All, which is scheduled in the 9 p.m. hour this week through Friday, opened 16 percent below year-ago occupant Fear Factor (5.1/ 8 on 12/11/11). The truer test will come, of course, when the demos are released. Stay tuned.

At 10 p.m. on NBC was holiday special Michael Buble: Home for the Holidays at a second-place 4.0/ 6 at 10 p.m., which was 26 percent below week-ago special Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas (5.4/ 9 on Dec. 3).

Over at CBS, How I Met Your Mother kicked-off the night with a healthy 6.3/10 in the overnights at 8 p.m., followed by an encore telecast of The Big Bang Theory at a 6.6/10 at 8:30 p.m., which is a notable improvement over former failed time period occupant Partners. Both finished a comfortable second behind The Voice on NBC. As a reminder, benchwarmer Rules of Engagement moves into the Monday 8:30 p.m. time period on CBS on February 4.

Next on the Eye net were two original episodes of 2 Broke Girls (9 p.m. #1: 7.5/11; 9:30 p.m.: #1, 7.2/11), which dipped by 19 percent, on average, from the year-ago combination of Two and a Half Men (9.9/15 on 12/12/11) and Mike & Molly (8.3/14). And three year-old Hawaii Five-O capped off the evening with a dominant 6.8/11 at 10 p.m., which was just seven percent below the 7.3/12 one year earlier.

Elsewhere, two more editions of short-flight returnee Extreme Makeover: Home Edition could not compete on ABC with a fourth-place finish at both 8 p.m. (3.1/ 5) and 9 p.m. (3.3/ 5). An encore telecast of Castle closed the night for the alphabet network with a third-place 3.5/ 6 at 10 p.m.

On Fox, the American Country Awards 2012 was a bust at a 3.4/ 5 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. And The CW limped along with 90210 (#5: 1.0/ 2) and Gossip Girl (#5: 0.9/ 1), which concludes with a two-hour installment next Monday.
