It had the proper level of "graphicness" and darkness needed to show the street level life in the mid-1800s and the severity of the "Ripper" crimes. Some of the dialog felt a bit off or forced to me, but overall I liked the writing too. Something was lacking for me though that I cannot put my finger on. Had the episode ended after the first half I would have rated it an "A-", but my interest lessened halfway through the episode. Maybe it's just me.... maybe I was tired?
I would probably grade it a "B-" so I guess that translates to "Great" in this poll maybe....
I agree. I liked it it overall as well despite some clunky moments. Also, the opening credits and music seem ripped off (no pun intended) from Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes".
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I thought it was really good. Is it ridiculous that I think Jackson will turn out to be Jack's son? ;)
ReplyDeletelol, that thought crossed my mind too.
ReplyDeleteI really hope he is not. Just a bit too obvious for my tastes.
ReplyDeleteI guess some theories did have the Ripper being a foreigner or American and many had him being a doctor.
I liked it for the most part.
