Merlin - Episode 5.10 - The Kindness of Strangers - Dialogue Teasers

Dec 1, 2012

As there are a lot of comments this week, I have done the update in a new post that can be found here

“They fled over the borders from ****’* ****”

“It’s so long since I heard the language, let alone read it!”

“Flowers, flowers, don’t forget the flowers”

“I have a task for you”

“Enjoy your other world”

“You were grateful enough for them when Gaius cured **** *****”

“Good morning! Thou, technically, I think it’s still night”

“For only you can carry their hopes into the great battle itself”

“I would never ******* you”

“It’s a warning to the whole kingdom. Morgana has declared war”

Trailer teaser

“You know if Arthur catches her she will be killed”

  1. “You were grateful enough for them when Gaius cured your piles."?

Fits with Merlin and Arthur's way of speaking to each other.

  2. Small typo fyi: 'boarders' should be 'borders'

Even so the next episode looks really awesome - wondering whether Merlin finds out and who stabs him... obviously that's a bit too much to tell us :) I wonder if Morgana finds out about Merlin... Definitely seems like a build up for the finale...

    ReplyDelete
  3. any Arwen stuff in this one considering the bedroom scene?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Please let Morganna find out about Merlin, please!!!! We've waited so long for any kind of magic reveal. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Cheers, I've corrected it. I always seem to slip up when I'm in a hurry to post, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  6. It looks like a very interesting episode, though I doubt that we'll ever have a reveal... Did you like it overall?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not here for long, so will get round to answering some questions tomorrow. This is another cracking episode, but yet again does very little towards moving the story on, and there's plot holes you could drive a tank through!! I just know I'm gonna be biting my tongue all week on some of them, so prepare to suspend your belief when it comes to certain aspects of it.

I also feel it would have been better done last year rather than 4 episodes before the end of the series. Only the epilogue really makes it important to the ending of the show as a whole, the rest would have worked perfectly and episode or two after we first meet Alator imo. I don't know if a lot of my whinges are down to this being the first episode I saw after the announcement last week that the show is done and dusted soon. I may just be over sensitive and disappointed at what might have been :(

    ReplyDelete
  8. And one more question, if possible - will there be at least anything positive for the fans of Arthur/Merlin? Because these last couple of episodes were kind of disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Thanks for the teasers again, Sandi! :)

    One guess:

“You were grateful enough for them when Gaius cured **** *****” IS
"You were grateful enough for them when Gaius cured your queen.

    Could be all wrong, though.

    SANDI,

I have a question that isn't episode related:

Are you going to watch the finale as soon as you get your hands on it or are you going to wait until it airs live on Christmas Eve and watch it together wit everyone else?

I can imagine you are itching to get your hands on the finale *g* - but this will also be the last opportunity to watch it live with all the other fans as it airs on BBC1 - which might be really nice. :) :)

  10. Sandi,as always, thanks for any info you can share. Do we get any Arwen scenes? There is a picture for ep 10 that shows Arwen in the bedroom. Is that scene in the show, or is it just a publicity photo? Does Merlin get to use magic, preferably something more than just flinging people about. Are the knights more involved in this episode?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sandi, thanks you for the honest opinion!
I'm afraid this will be pretty much the feeling for the rest of the season. We kind of expected this season to be bigger & better and with some really good stories that would move the whole story arc, but instead each new episode was more & more disappointing that the one before and every viewer asks "why, why, why it's like this and not like that, it does not make sence."

    ReplyDelete
  12. Very close, but a different, possibly slightly more embarrassing, condition is alluded to.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think the breakfast in bed scene is the only Arwen moment, but it's a light relief scene rather than a heavy romance one. It's sweet, but don't expect much intimacy I'm afraid :(

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hmm, I'm not sure how to answer this as I've loved the Merlin/Arthur scenes this year on the whole. Perhaps if you say why you have been disappointed I might be able to better answer :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. oh... I see... thanks a lot for the info... though now I am really pissed off at the show because I cannot understand how the only married couple on the show can go a whole bl**** 10 episodes without a kiss!!!! it makes absolutely no sense!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I know what you mean, there seems to be too much filler for this point in the show. There are elements that do move this forward, but it's enveloped in huge amounts of recycled material...yet again! I've decided that I need to approach this show the same way I do The Simpsons; if I expect little to no continuity/growth between episodes then I can appreciate the material more. I mean, this is a cracking lil episode on the whole from that aspect of it, I'm just left thinking of what more they could have done it.

It probably doesn't help that last nights episode was a brilliant one either, both character development wise and performance of cast/director too. To go from that to pressing the big ole reset button and pretending that nothing happened is a bone of contention for me :\

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hmmm, good question. Thou I didn't know the finale had been moved to Christmas Eve :o I will probably watch it so that I can do the teasers, plus I *need* to know what happens, lol XD

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yep that scene is in this eppy, it does involve Merlin too thou so there isn't any great intimacy I'm afraid, Arthur is particularly sweet in it thou :)

The knights have bits to do in this episode but, mostly, nothing of real character which is a shame. There's bits of magic happening, but nothing really new...I guess the budget cuts aren't up to much magic again this year

    ReplyDelete
  19. If I'm honest I don't feel the need to see a kiss, their relationship is obviously strong and their love is proclaimed almost every week with words and in how they act with each other. That for me is more romantic, and says a lot more about how deep their relationship goes than just a kiss would be.

    ReplyDelete
  20. oh yes that is perfectly true I agree with you there 100%... it's just that I always love to see a kiss between the two just the same :) and I cannot understand how in the past we got about 3-4 per season and this year... nothing.... in any case that is just how I feel, no one is obliged to agree with me :)

Just one more question: is Gwen in this episode much? I mean, has she recovered from the ordeal or will she bed-bound?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd like to see Gwen in turmoil after killing an innocent man and wanting to do some gesture for his mother, I know she was under a spell but I want her to be truly sorry and try and do some retribution
Also I feel they have wasted 3 episodes on a plot that has got us nowhere I would have much rather a reveal and the fall out from that then 4 episodes that didn't advance the story at all, I just think the end will be rushed and unsatisfactory

    ReplyDelete
  22. Slightly more embarrassing than piles... 5 letters... warts? boils? I guess depending where they would be they could fit...

    ReplyDelete
  23. yes that is what I had in mind, whether we will see Gwen trying to remedy her actions or whether her state of mind being depressed (naturally after what happened) will be shown. I am not referring to Arwen, but to Gwen's own personality, since I must imagine she would feel hopeless knowing what she did. if that is not at least even mentioned, then I would have to agree with another comment of yours earlier on, that there are plenty of plot holes.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I agree with you, but you have to admit that it's rather weird showing a married couple without one proper kiss. Not even a peck.... It's very annoying after 10 eps.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well I can't speak for Mary but on another forum I visit a lot of people are disappointed I'm how Arthur and merlins relationship is so wishy washy within one episode he will ask merlin for advice, confide in him, treat him as a friend, then dismiss his advice call him stupid remind him that he's just a servant get him to do trivial demeaning tasks etc its like their friendship hasn't moved on since series two
In last nights episode he did all the above, he risked his life to save merlin showing great concern then a little while later completely forgot merlin existed all for a gag I think the writing is a bit off this series with regards to their banter, it no longer fits the characters

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think they are aware of both sets of fan " ships" merthur and Arwen and are trying to keep both happy

    ReplyDelete
  27. but it doens't make much sense now, the no kiss would have worked in the previous seasons not now when they are married.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Maybe Bradley and Angel are uncomfortable doing the kissing scenes?
They never look a convincing couple

    ReplyDelete
  29. couldn't agree with you more, even about your previous comment. not showing a married couple share at least one kiss is not keeping a shipping family happy, I am sorry. As Minx perfectly said, in past seasons it would have worked... but now that they are married it is frustrating...and why is it that in previous seasons we got kisses, and now not? I am sorry it makes no sense.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, that's exactly what I meant. So, Sandi, wil Arthur continue to treat Merlin like he is a lower form of life this week? Will he show at least some emotion for his supposed friend?

    ReplyDelete
  31. mmm now that's a thought... but honestly after 5 seasons, and knowing it would end... they could have dropped one or two without killing themselves. Had it been at the very start of season 1 (or two when something started showing there) I might've accepted that they would find alternatives, but not in the last few episodes of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, for example, I didn't like how Arthur didn't care for Merlin's life an well being, how he stressed that Merlin is just a servent. I think those scenes were derogatory for both characters and for their friendship. I'm afraid that with 4 episodes left, I won't see Arthur caring for Merlin at all.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's sad that Sandi always answers questions about Arwen and encourages the Arwen shippers, but fans of other relationships get nothing. It's your choice, of course, but still sad.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would never forgive you?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Umm, I've answered all the questions I can that have been asked here so not sure what you mean?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Have to agree with you there, it's looking less and less likely that we are going to see any golden age where Merlin the wizard with Arthur the King :(

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sandi always answers most people's questions if they don't give too much of the plot away, I'm not referring to you but some replies on this topic sound a bit harsh to sandi as if she is responsible for the plot, I love the teasers and all, obviously there are a few passionate Arwen fans on here who ask a lot of Arthur/gwen related questions but its just how it is I don't think anyone is ignored

    ReplyDelete
  38. I know we won't from the leaked audition tape for a character from episodes 12 and 13. I was asking about their friendship and if it will become at least a little bit visible from Arthur that he cares for Merlin. But thank you for answering anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think we've seen bits this year, but it's not worked for me because of stupid 'comedy' moments like last night where Arthur forgets Merlin as he goes to leaves after the curing. Like I've said in a different comments in this post, they more or less press the reset button between each episode and therefore we have a program like the Simpsons where there is no real character growth. It's very frustrating as a fan, but it's how they keep the target audience tuning in each week :(

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think you may very well be right - they seem much more natural when their interaction is 'chaste' like brother and sister than when they did those kisses back in seasons 2-4.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, well, that sucks. Now I'm scared that the next episode the bromance will be gone completely and for good :(

    ReplyDelete
  42. lol what? are we even watching the same show?!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Because in ep10 there are no good A/M scenes, episode 11 is dedicated to Arthur killing Mordred's love interest off, and in episode 12 and 13 Arthur and Merlin will be separated, since Merlin will be in a Crystal cave for a while. And I bet that when Arthur dies he won't be thinking about his clumsy servant either.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think it's a shame to think so negatively about episodes that haven't been seen yet :(

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'd love to think in a more positive way, but well, nothing I've read or heard from those who have seen the episodes says that I've got anything to look forward to. Even you can't say anything positive about Arthur/Merlin in episode 10. So I think it's better to be prepared and not be disappointed when they do air.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'd think so. What, you think that people who don't see the chemistry between Arthur and Gwen are not allowed to have an opinion?

    ReplyDelete
  47. We are clearly not watching the same show they have excellent chemistry and always hold the screen. Now if the trolls that are the powers that be are trying to pacify the twit faction in this fandom that is a different thing entirely but to be clear, it is highly unnatural to not have intimacy between a loving married couple. It is unnatural.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The false attempt to pacify a narrow few was a waste of time and spoilt things.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Not in those days marriage was for convenience, Arthur married because qwen would be a good queen for Camelot, if it was real he would have dumped her for wife number two now just so he could have a heir :-)
I think people who want to see chemistry can imagine it but the fact is there is none because Bradley and angel are not a real couple so there is no real chemistry
I don't see anything believable I did think it was because of the acting but both angel and Bradley have proven they are quite capable actors so I imagine the directors are telling them to keep it platonic because they want to keep all fans happy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. LOL, it is an epical dilemma for you, isn't it? I asked myself last night what I would do - and came to conclusion that I would watch it as soon as I got my fingers on it. ;) I am pretty certain I would because... my original plan was to NOT watch the final five episodes and then to watch them all in one go on Christmas.

Needless to say... I watched last night, so it's save to say that bold plan is off the table. :D I can't help myself, I just have to know stuff. I even flip forward in books at times. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. But let me guess Arthur and Merlin have chemistry cause they are a real couple that's how it work isn't it?

You seem to be too biased on your own shipping ideals to express an objective opinion on who does have chemistry and who doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You know, I'm must confess that everytime you've been telling us something Arwen related that was disappointing I've been hoping you're teasing with us, wanting to keep the element of surprise for the actual episode but unfortunately no :( :( Yes, their love and commitment is unquestionable & we've been getting dozens of proofs of their enormous affection for each other BUT...a kiss is a kiss and for fans of ship like Arwen it is important to actually see that. I would get the lack of it if there was a reasoning behind it, story or character wise but it seems to be a result of negligence and a disrespect for the ship fans and it does hurt a little bit. :(

    ReplyDelete
  53. On no. not the reset button again! I can't take that any longer. I really enjoyed last night's episode. At least Arthur was shown that magic can be good, albeit not by Merlin as himself. And he seemed to twig on that Merlin was special having all those right 'feelings'. And now nothing again - from what you say it seems that not even Morgana is going to find out about Merlin although this is what the episode is about...

    ReplyDelete
  54. I hope we'll see some good Merlin/Arthur interactions during which Merlin shows to Arthur that he is the one who always get the solutions!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm pretty sure Colin and Bradley are not a real couple either lol, I did think Arthur and Mithian and Arthur and Elena had chemistry and I was right about Elena :-) probably about Mithian too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Is he sweet towards Merlin ... ? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  57. The magic Merlin used to cure Gwen was great, I think...

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think they are going to keep the magic reveal until the final episode

    ReplyDelete
  59. Is it a Merlin centric episode ?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thank you so much for all the teasers this episode is about searching for Emrys so will Merlin and Morgana have a lot of scenes together?

    ReplyDelete
  61. You have done an AMAZING job, Sandi, so don't listen to that. You have given us just the right amount of teasers to really wet the appetite without spoiling the outcome or giving away to much (and THAT, in itself, is an ARTFORM! :D ) and you have taken the time to painstakingly go through each and every post and try and answer each and every question.

Besides: You cannot answer questions about relationships that don't exist (other than in the imagination of the respective viewer). Gwen/Arthur is the only cannon relationship on the show at the moment, so it's the only one you can talk about. Everything else is a matter of interpretation - and people in the fandom seem to forget that at times.

[Before anyone flames me for saying that: I don't ship anything and I don't mind at all people shipping anything or anyone but the dragon and the horses. ;) But let's also be fair to Sandi. She cannot talk about or give you teasers about ships that aren't real on the show, guys.]

    ReplyDelete
  62. .. if ever. The way they go, it seems there won't be one at all. And BTW will count me in on all you comments above about the chemistry and Gwen's feeling (I'm sure we won't get none here either, Gwen's screen time was all they were after. TPTB confirmed it in the closing speech)

    ReplyDelete
  63. So only people who allegedly dated each other have on screen chemistry? Woah then the actors world should be a very promiscuous one!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Excuse me, but are really saying that the only relationship on the show is Arthur and Gwen's one, and completely disregard all the other friendships, bonds and shared destinies? Because that's beyond weird.

And I agree that Sandi is doing a great job of 'wetting the appetites' of Arthur/Gwen shippers. There is no doubt here.

    ReplyDelete
  65. They dated for real, not 'allegedly dated'.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I agree the bromance between Arthur and Merlin is the heart of the show

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm pretty sure we will get one in the last episode ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm talking about real chemistry there isn't any its all pretend, only Bradley and angel don't really make the romantic scenes look believable imo Perhap they find them awkward being real friends

    ReplyDelete
  69. I wonder if Arthur has given up on trying to reason with Morgana? Bradley James said something about there coming a point when Arthur would no longer believe she was worth saving.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hmm, they don't have much screen time together iirc, but Arthur is a bit of an arse to him in that 'comic' manner they seem to love doing :(

    ReplyDelete
  71. It's sooo frustrating as a fan isn't it, even more so since finding out that this was the end of the show. On the positive side of it, the new show they are planning for next year is a subject I like too, the Three Musketeers, and Shine aren't having a hand in it afaik

    ReplyDelete
  72. lol, I'm sure many Arwen shippers are over the moon happy that I constantly disagree with them and disappoint them so often with the way the story is going :p

We've discussed bromance earlier in the comments here, it's not my fault that I'm not able to say what you want to hear. But that is because it's not what they have done in the show and is out of my control, I'm not keeping secrets and refusing to talk about their friendship on purpose, I have answered all questions about them as far as I am able to.

Therefore I do not understand the complaint, it comes across as if I am being blamed for the writers/producers decisions :s

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hmm, I wouldn't call it that; but then I wouldn't say any episodes are centric around one person in this show.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I can't really talk too much about that I'm afraid, sorry :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah, I think after hearing about how she was held captive has made him realise that she's past the point of being saved. She's become a very lonely and sad figure in many ways, I'd say she has had the most character development since S1.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yeah, and therefore you are doing a great job of wetting their appetites, right? (I don't say it in a bad way, as you've said, it's not your fault that the show is written a certain way, and you're not obligated to even answer to many question fired your way). I'm not complaining! I've just said what is true and has been for the last five episodes, but it's true only because there is something to tease them with, while apparently nothing to make other shippers intrigued about. I had no intention of accusing you of anything.

    ReplyDelete
  77. And I don't blame Sandi, but apparently I haven't worded my response well.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Ok sorry I read it wrong

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ahh, I understand you :) I wish I could be more positive about the characters, I think I'm more down on them over this last week. The actors are brilliant, and do well with what they have, but I'm finding the lack of canon and growth disappointing. Merlin tells us again in this ep that things will be different for Camelot soon and magic will be allowed, but I just find it too hard to believe at this point.

I can't tell you how p**** I am that they have tried to fob us off by saying that the missing 3 years between S4 and S5 were the golden years. I'm sure that's just spin because they were expecting a S6 to still happen until halfway through this year :(

    ReplyDelete
  80. The Simpsons are never ending story ( I do not watch it, but know it's been going forever and will be around for while I bet). Merlin is entirely separate kattle of fish. It had beginning and we were promissed all along it'll have a proper closing, but instead we are trading water in the last ever season.
I must say that after the last episode and Arthur's reaction to Dolma saying how much he owes Merlin, Arthur does not deserve to know. After all these years he is still acting like total prat towards Merlin and it sounds that the coming episode will not clear that part a tiny bit either, if not dig it even deeper.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I wish I was as sure as you seems to be! I was looking forward to that moment for 5 years and now feel really dishearted that it'll never happen

    ReplyDelete
  82. "I think we've seen bits this year, but it's not worked for me because of stupid 'comedy' moments like last night where Arthur forgets Merlin as he goes to leaves after the curing."
THAT!!!!! Agree wholeheartedly. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. At least Mordred appreciated Merlin's effort. I loved the guy for it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Funny how it matches last season. They start with a lot of scenes together, remind us that they are still friends and then part way through forget all about it. Exact same pattern this year, only there is nothing more to look forward too, so it's doubly depressing.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Please read my post again, because I was talking about RELATIONships, as in BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP and not FRIENDships. The earlier complaint was cleary about Sandi not commenting about the other RELATIONships in the show and I said other then Gwen/Arthur, there isn't any. Yes, of course there is that other area of friendshops, bonds etc. But that was not what the complaint was about, namely Sandi not fully satisfying all the other shippers like Merthur etc. I merely pointed out that these ships are in the imagination, not the show, they are not cannon, and thus Sandi can't say much about them with the context of the show. She can of course comment (and has always done so diligently in the past) on moments of friendship and bonding. So in that department there shouldn't be a complaint to begin with. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  85. ^^ THIS. That's what I meant earlier. You cannot comment about what is not happening on the show, Sandi, and you can't be blamed for it either. Too right you are, so don't worry. You are doing everything right and brilliantly so, sister. :) We are much indebted to you for all the hard work you put into this.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Friendship is a relationship between two people who hold mutual affection for each other, and you said that in Merlin 'no other relationship except for Arthur/Gwen exists'.
Also, jsyk, 'canon' is spelled with only one 'n'.
One more thing - the so-called 'Merthur' is an acknowledged by media, journalists and even Merlin Official relationship. Whether people choose to think of it as of a romantical or bromantical one is their business. There is nothing wrong with shipping it or asking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Are you kidding me?!? You are correcting my spelling? Seriously? Well just for your information (and you might have guessed by my facebook name): I am NOT a native speaker, in fact English is not my second or even third language. I'll gladly have this conversation with you in any of MY languages (six total) and we will see how well YOU do and MAYBE you will understand just how RUDE you have been just now!!!

I NEVER said there was something wrong with shipping, in fact I explicitly said there was NOTHING wrong with it, so stop twisting my words around! Other than that I won't even comment on what you said, you are clearly determined on misinterpreting my posts, so go ahead, I don't care. Just for your info: I have been in fandoms for 25 years, hun, pretty sure I know a great deal more about shipperdom, BL, Yaoi and what not than you do.

OK, I am out of here, this is just getting annoying.

Sandi, I thank you for your hard work. Sorry, that my attempt to defend you was being twisted and turned into something it is not.

Everyone else, enjoy the remaining episodes and the finale. I am done here. I want to enjoy the remaining episodes without this BS or opinionated fangirls getting in my face.

    ReplyDelete
  88. And even though she's his sister, she's made herself too big a threat. And protecting Camelot comes first.
I've been reading the answers you post here for a while, Sandi. So I just wanted to say thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  89. The producers have admitted to have included in the show what they call a "homoerotic subtext" it's there because they have included it purposefully for the fans who like it, so it's not wrong or imagined its there to ignore if you wish but it's not flights of fancy on behalf of certain groups of people so its all canon take it or leave it

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'm afraid you are wrong about that the producers have stated that they have purposefully included a homoerotic subtext to the story, therefore both relationships are canon :-o

    ReplyDelete
  91. Married couple intimacy is not what this show is about. Surely there is a lot more to develop than get the violins out again.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Colin & Bradley became close friends in life and that transferred to the screen. They obviously enjoy working together and bounce off each other very well. If they had proper script to work with the show would thrive. Bradley & Angel became good friends too and THAT is also shows on the screen, but like FRIENDS. They are perfect in humorous situations, when they tease each other, but as soon as it comes to a remotely “romantic” scene or “love declaration” it does not work very well. Sorry,
Arwen fans, you may need to come to terms that a lot of viewers out there who have no knowledge of "ships" do
not see the romance the way you see it and they are entitled to the opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yep, count me in on this comment too. Totally agree. Bradley & Angel are great in teasy situations.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'm sure we do, only different people are seeing the same senses differently. Something that for you looks like romance for others give a more friendship vibe. The same how there are dozen of reviewers all with different rating for the same episode and different things to say.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Surely you do not see some hidden agenda in true male friendship. That's what Arthur & Merlin relationship is.

    ReplyDelete
  96. You actually believe that it’s Shine who was putting the break on character development?! I’m darn sure it’s the two JJs. No one put words and their mouths and what they were & are still saying goes against everything that was implied from the get go and what the cast wanted. The idea was indeed great, they were fortunate with the cast, but the execution had a lot left to be desired.
I'm not signing up for any show with them. This is painful enough...

  97. I also think that it is Julian and Johnny who have to take the blame for what has happened to season 5. I was always left totally frustrated after they had given a Merlin interview. It is them who stalled the writers IMO!

  98. Disheartened, frustrated, annoyed, angry, furious ,..... I am with you on this one!

  99. Thank you so much for trying to cheer us up! :) Your word in their ears! I always think - TPTB still classify Merlin as a family show, even if it is darker and more mature now. Surely they cannot leave all those kids (and particularly the more mature kids :D) without what they really want????

  100. Do we have any more Gwen scenes besides the breakfast in bed scene?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well yeah, I mean the J's in particular, but Shine's history for making shows hasn't been the greatest either, lol.

  102. Oh completely with you there, I think they need either less 'Yes Men' around them, or to start listening to those that are there. They live in a bubble :(

  103. But Merlin also feels like it's a never ending story that doesn't progress towards this ending we have been promised five years ago. That's why I used the Simpsons simile.

  104. Haha, I flip to the end of books sometimes too, it's the spoiler nerd in me that just has to know everything will be ok XD

  105. :o I've not sen that, do you have a link please?

  106. You're welcome, it's great to see you post too :)

  107. The long awaited picnic happens in this episode, so she is part of that.

  108. Hi it's on the DVD commentary Arthur's bane part 1

    ReplyDelete
  109. Cheers, I'll have a listen to it. Not had chance to watch the DVDs at all yet :(

  110. In DVD commentary the JJ stated that despite a lot of pressure from outside to change A/M dynamic they “never for one second intended to do it” and without this change there was not much one could do with the character development, as one lead meant to be “deaf and blind with brain damage” all the time and the other comprise an “idiot servant” one minute and “depressed unrecognised Wizard” the next. I’ll trust you on the Shine experience!

  111. Fair enough. If they listened to their cast they could have a longer run, now all the bridges are burnt by the look of it. The only hope that it is ended with some loose ends tidied and Arthur learnt the truth. That is the only “REVEAL” I accept as a satisfactory ending. For Arthur to finally realise how much someone with magic done for him and that it can be used for good. Even if he dies the next minute, I will greave but still be happy.

BTW, sorry for going so off track again in your thread! We all hyper sensitive after the announcement.

  112. Now I'm really disappointed.I had a feeling that we would finally get a reveal this week, because of last year's let down in the "secret sharer",I didn't believe they would trick us again but after reading the comments I doubt that anyone will ever find out about Merlin's magic. I shouldn't bother anymore with this. They don't want to please their fans,or get any further with the story. So it's better for me to stop right here before I get too depressed at the end.Should probably watch a show that actually cares about their fanbase.Sorry for complainig so much but I'm extremely frustrated about this at the moment.

  113. Yeah, these writers don't care about their fans. They give the bare minimum of interesting plot just so they can get a pay check.

  114. I think we're all very frustrated to be honest. Colin's comments yesterday about how he loves how the show ends has given me some hope thou, he sounded very upbeat about it.

  115. They do really need some big revelation soon. The show is dropping off a cliff with all this filler. And the idea of Gwen going bad makes NO sense to me. They really need arthur to discover magic in last episode of this season (ie soon). They do a final season, where first merlin is shunned, but then valiantly saves arthur's life and proves himself. At the same time Morgana learns of Merlin's destiny and centers on thwarting it. Albion is created as magic is accepted back into the kingdom after a final battle with morgana.

  116. I'm Vietnamese. A woman of color right here . Can i have any say in this? The chemistry between Arthur and Gwen , whatever it is, make me feel uncomfortable all the time, even after 4 years... I thought i got used to it by now but.... Unfortunately, no.

  117. I wish Bradley and Angle was dating for real, then. Maybe that way A/G scenes are more bearable. I agree Arthur and Elena had great chemistry even if they had very little scenetime
