Too Star Trek-y. I liked the old one, from the 9th and 10th Doctors. It was more organic. So sad they're trying too hard, I think, to make this show "fancier" than it is at its heart.
I like it, actually. A good nod to the Classic series. It's a new series, new companion, new attitude for the Doctor (post-Pond), and along with it, a "new" Tardis. Doctor Who is always about change (new Doctors, new companions). I think it's only natural for the Tardis to change, too. We'll get used to it. ;)
Throughout the most of the classic series the TARDIS changes were cosmetic, they kept the console, they were strong in advanced tech and so on - even when they had a wood panelling look for a while it was still a similar layout - just the "wallpaper" changed. I believe it was RTD who suddenly decided the TARDIS was now made of spare parts and nonsense gadgets, with no real reason for the sudden change. I did like the organic backdrop and lighting, as well as the multi-levels but the spare parts console just annoyed me. So I for one love this and can't wait to see it continue to evolve w/o spare parts.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Love it!!
ReplyDeleteNot really fond of it myself. Plus I don't like the colors... and it looks rather sterile. BUT... I'll get used to it I suppose.
ReplyDeleteHrrmm, i guess it looks okay. No big problem with it. Not besotted either.
ReplyDeleteI like it! There's blue! I LOVE blue;)
ReplyDeleteI loved the old Tardis. It had a soul. Perhaps it is better in a show.....We'll see!

ReplyDelete9/10th was the best! The new ones seem so cold and unpersonal

Define "old" TARDIS, because this is more like the classic series than anything since the 2005 reboot.
ReplyDeleteA great nod to the classic era. I did love the last one as well, but this looks like a perfect design for the anniversary year.
