"DEXTER(R)" SHATTERS RECORDS ATTRACTING THE LARGEST AUDIENCE EVER FOR A SHOWTIME(R) ORIGINAL SERIES

"HOMELAND" Continues To Grow Delivering Its Highest Rated Episode Ever

The one-two punch of DEXTER and HOMELAND continues to deliver record-breaking ratings for SHOWTIME on Sunday nights, as their penultimate episodes for the season delivered both series' highest ratings ever. The DEXTER season seven and HOMELAND season two finales air this Sunday night from 9 to 11 p.m. ET/PT.

DEXTER delivered 2.6 million viewers at 9 p.m., attracting the biggest audience ever for a SHOWTIME original series, as well as the best total night delivery ever for a SHOWTIME series with 3.08 million total viewers, topping the long-held record of the series' season four finale on 12/13/2009 (vs. 2.57 million at 9 p.m. and vs. 3.05 million for the night). Sunday's episode is not only the series' highest-rated episode in three years, but is also up 25 percent from the prior week (vs. 2.1 million at 9 p.m., and 2.6 million for the night - up 17 percent). Season-to-date, the seventh season of DEXTER is averaging 6.1 million total weekly viewers across platforms, its highest rated season ever, and up 12 percent above its prior season through the same time frame.

HOMELAND delivered 2.36 million viewers at 10 p.m., exceeding last week's record-breaking episode (2.2 million) by 8 percent to become the highest rated telecast for the series ever. The total night garnered 2.6 million viewers, surpassing last week's total (2.5 million) as the best total night delivery ever for the series. Season-to-date, the second season of HOMELAND is averaging 5.8 million total weekly viewers across platforms, up 35 percent above its freshman season.

  5. they only went up because they had no competition in the same genre with dexter revenge, Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire have ended so 0 competition=Record ratings but i do expect it to go down slighly next week for both shows i predict
    Dexter - 2.55 million viewers (1.3 Rating)
    Homeland - 2.27 million viewers (1.0 Ratintg)

  6. wow tyhe first episode to beat Dexter's season 4 finale "The Getaway" which IMO was the best episode of dexter ever this is great news for dexter and was not an easy episode to beat in ratings hopefully season 8 will break more records

  7. yeah, this Sunday Dexter will have NO competition...there's No Revenge and the only hit show against it will be Survivor's Finale 3 hr show...☺....
