THE CW’S NEW MIDSEASON DRAMA “CULT” PREMIERES ON

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19 (9:00-10:00 PM)

December 4, 2012 (Burbank, CA) – The CW today announced the series premiere of the mind-bending, suspenseful new drama CULT on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 (9:00-10:00p.m. ET).

Investigative journalist Jeff Sefton has learned to laugh off his younger brother Nate’s relentless string of obsessions, especially his latest rant that a hit TV show intends to harm him. However, when his brother mysteriously disappears, Jeff takes Nate’s paranoia seriously, and in the process uncovers the dark underworld of the TV series “Cult” and its rabid fans, who are obsessed with the show’s charismatic cult leader, Billy Grimm. As the show’s gruesome plot twists begin to play out in the real world, Jeff enlists the help of a young research assistant Skye in a race to save Nate and unravel the mystery behind the TV series whose hardcore fans would literally kill to see what happens next…

The series stars Matt Davis (“The Vampire Diaries”) as Jeff Sefton, Jessica Lucas (“Melrose Place,” “Cloverfield”) as Skye Yarrow, Alona Tal (“Supernatural,” “The Killing”) as Kelly Collins and Robert Knepper (“Prison Break,” “Shameless”) as Billy Grimm.

CULT is from Fake Empire and Rockne S. O’Bannon Television in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Rockne S. O’Bannon (“Farscape,” “V”), Josh Schwartz (“CHUCK,” “Gossip Girl”), Stephanie Savage (“Hart Of Dixie,” “Gossip Girl”) and Len Goldstein (“Hart Of Dixie”).

  1. HOD as a lead in? I can understand not wanting to move Beauty esp if they want to to hold its ratings but Hart as a lead in is a piss poor idea.

They should have stuck Cult after Carrie on Monday and put 90210 on Tuesday with HOD as a lead in. While Carrie and Cult have nothing in common two new shows together would have been better than giving Cult a very low rated lead in.

  2. I hate the idea of pairing the show with Hart on Tuesdays but pairing it with Carrie Diaries would have been even worse for me, and mondays at 9 are more competitive than tuesdays at 9. They should have simply loved beauty and the beast as that is a dead show walking. Alternatively, they should have paired it with nikita on tuesdays but given it the affiliates lead-in, which is better than anything the cw has to offer that is not called arrow or supernatural:

    Monday
    The Carrie Diaries
    Hart of Dixie

    Tuesday
    Cult
    Nikita

    Wednesday
    Arrow
    Supernatural

    Thursday
    The Vampire Diaries
    Beauty and the Beast

    Friday
    90210 (Final Season)
    Arrow - R

  3. Looks like they are giving up on Cult before ti starts with this plan. Whether this is indeed the CW's death slot (as opposed to Fridays) or not, nothing good comes from this placement.

  4. Not sure that pairing Cult with Nikita does Cult any favors. For me the best plan would be to put it with Vampire Diaries and see if it does any better than Beauty and the Beast. I would have put Carrie Diaries and Hart of Dixie together, moving Beauty and the Beast with 90210.

  5. Beauty and the Beast sucks, and is unlikely to make it past season one, if The CW has any sense at all. Why not move BatB to Tuesdays, after Hart of Dixie and air Cult after The Vampire Diaries or Arrow?

  6. If they really wanted this show to succeed, they should have put it after TVD. It would be its best chance. And BaTB is pretty much dead already anyway.

  7. They should have put it on after Arrow. Supernatural doesn't need the lead-in; it has proven many times over that it will succeed no matter where you stick it.

  8. CW is insane. Hart of Dixie and Cult? What kind of pairing is that? Apparently, they haven't learned from the Top Model/Nikita debacle. Added to the fact that they haven't been able to launch a show in the Tuesday 9pm slot in years, Cult's prospects don't look good. It's a pity, since I think the show's premise is really intriguing and full of potential.

  9. I agree, Cult and Arrow together would probably be good since Arrow is their highest rated new show and I think its the second highest on the network. Then again they probably won't put two freshman shows on the same night but I don't understand how CW plans their nights anyways.
