According to sources, producers of the hour-long drama in question are looking to close out the season with a bang, and they believe splitting up this beloved couple will provide just such a jolt. Additionally, the break-up (which it’s fair to say no one will see coming) would give the series a lot of creative juice as it heads into what could be its final season.

ReplyDeleteI only watch OUAT and The Good Wife off that list, and I think both are safe since OUAT isn't likely to end after next season, and Alicia / Peter aren't even a legit couple as it is.

ReplyDeleteI actually hope it is Snow and Charming just because their 'I will always find you' rote is so freaking dull and they're such an 'external' couple, but obviously it won't be.
I don't know if you can say will they/won't they couples like Castle/Beckett, Booth/Bones or Michael/Nikita would really count based on the way they've been written.
Maybe Callie/Arizona or MerDer? Although they've gone through SO much and been SO hyped as Made For Each Other that it might be a little shark jumpy.
My gut says someone from Parenthood :(

My money is either on Bones because it could indeed be the final season or Parenthood which could also be the final season. Castle no, AM said once the bridge was crossed he isn't going to break them up. As for Greys, no Mer is having a baby, doubt it. Castle hasn't been renewed for next season, more then likely the contract will be for two more seasons. OUAT, nah it doesn't make sense to break snow/charming up, it wouldn't work with the show's formula and no, I highly doubt next season will be their last since its only season 2 and the show is huge.

ReplyDeleteI suppose we can rule out Castle because of the info that the show could be heading to its final season. I wouldn't think Castle is anywhere near the end but who knows. I'd bet on Mer/Der on Greys.
ReplyDeleteCastle is only there to create buzz. Obviously, breaking them up would be a lot more annoying than it would be "shocking" seeing as they JUST got together. It COULD be Grey's. Just because it isn't MerDer doesn't mean it can't be Calzone. ;) Is Parenthood big enough to have a couple that would send such shockwaves? And OUAT isn't heading into it's last season. Not sure who it could be...
ReplyDeleteI think the same as you about Bones. And since it came out in Ausiello ask about another "openness to the world" Brennan, I think at the end of this season will be the engagement of the two.

ReplyDeleteHowever, he also says no one will expect it and apparently none of the castle fans is expecting a break up because they just got together. Therefore, my theory is that Castle will propose and Beckett will freak out (since there have been some interviews from Marlowe and Co mentioning marriage). And that is the reason they break up and enough to freak us out over the summer hiatus. Only thing is that you probably can't base a complete season just on the break up.
In Marlowe I trust.
But honestly, I am little bit scared.
The whole " increasing (read: deafening) buzz" screams of Ausiello's usually obvious clues, but it's not ringing any bells for me... Anyone?

I don't think so. I remember reading about the Nikita-Michael split as well and it's supposed happen sooner than the end of the season. The breakup they're talking about here is (the way I read it) a season finale thing.

ReplyDeleteI can imagine it being any of the other shows other than Bones. I think Hart has messed with their relationship enough. Final season leads me away from OUaT and Castle and maybe The Good Wife, though I would love to see those 2 stay apart.
Doesn't say it happens in the finale but by seasons end and he chose to say 'may be'. It would be a cruel cliffhanger for summer but I suspect something happens on the correct show before the season finale

ReplyDeleteI hope it is Nikita. I am one of about two people in the world who can't stand Nikita and Michael (I really hope to have Nikita and Alex together. There is just something between Fonseca and Maggie that has grown. I mean, I could not stand Fonseca or her character at first and only recently has both of them grown on me) so I am sure it will cause backlash in the Mikita universe. It is so obvious and expected that Mikita drives me bonkers.

ReplyDeleteI'm not going to mind too much if it's Castle (ducks projectiles), though I don't know that they'd break them up so soon. I have faith it'll work itself out eventually, so I'm not going to whine about it. I'm a bit worried about Adam and Kristina from Parenthood, honestly. I think that the cancer might finally take a toll on their relationship. I also would probably throw things at the screen at this point if it's Booth and Brennan. They're finally in a great place, and they have a CHILD. The writers really wouldn't do that... would they?

If Shonda Rhimes knows what is good for her show...it better not be Meredith and Derek! If she breaks them up...again...then she can kiss Grey's goodbye. If they break up I will not be back to watch season 10 and a lot of other fans will follow suit! No MerDer = NO FANS!!!

What about Cristina and Owen on Grey's? It's difficult to say "I didn't see that coming", but considering the positive turn their relationship seems to have taken in the last episode, well, if they broke them up now it would still come unexpected. That would give Shonda a chance for making them reconcile either at the end of this season (in case it would be the last one) or the next (which I think will definitely be the final one).
ReplyDeletePopular drama eliminates Nikita, Parenthood, The Good wife and Castle. They have a few very noisy fans but never were popular as in ratings saying they are popular. That leaves Bones, Grey's and OUAT, that are, or at least were, popular. Considering Shonda Rhimes is the queen of stupid breakups just for the sake of ratings and because she has nothing to say since S3, my money is on GA. Calzonna.

ReplyDeleteBreaking up is not usual in fairy tales. Unless they want to add some realism. Charming's reaction to Snow when he heard that Snow did it with Dr. Whale was priceless and Snow's retort: We were under a curse was genius.
