I get that Stefan is smarting from the breakup, but Damon is trying so hard to be a good brother here. And he has no idea that he's the cause of their breakup (he probably thinks its the Klaus thing), and at the time he was trying to fix the relationship, not hurt it. So while I understand Stefan's ... let's call it "grumpiness" - I hope he gets over it soon. But my guess it won't, given that Delena might finally take their shot. And I wouldn't even blame him, because the girl you love hooking up with your brother is a bitter pill - ask Damon, who didn't handle the Katherine situation any better back in the day. Still, I can't imagine I'll have much fun watching Stefan scenes while he's ... grumpy.
It's not easy to see Stefan acting like a bitter douche but I'm going to cut the guy some slack for a few episodes regardless of how awful he behaves.
From the very beginning of this series Stefan has made Elena his entire world and it was only six episodes ago he was sitting on top of a roof with her talking about spending eternity together. Now, a very short time later, all of that is gone and the girl he loves more than anything can't stop thinking about his brother. It makes all the sense in the world that he's going to be surly, bitter, and resentful for a while.
More than anything, I feel sorry for Damon. He's trying so hard to be a good brother but he's in an extremely awkward, no-win situation.
Good for Stefan! Considering that Damon has been trying to come between him and Elena since the start, I think Stefan has every right not to want to be around him and is perfectly justified with his remarks.
Stefan threw in that line and now Damon is gonna feel guilty and he will feel more guilty when he finds out that he is technically the cause of the break up. Stefan I get that your upset and all but do you not see that Damon is trying to be there for you?
Damon has always tried to hide his good guy side because he always get hurt, first Katherine then Elena chosing Stefan. now that it is Stefans turn to be rejected he act like a true jerk. Think about it he has never been rejected, he has always been favored over Damon especially by the women.
Agree. It's hard for Stefan that she feels more connected to Damon now. But you got to admit that Stefan let her down several times now. And thru the entire last season Damon was there for her when Stefan wasn't. And Damon helped her a lot adjusting to her new life. Can Stefan really a wonder they got close within the past year? Still. No excuse for him to be mean to his brother. Damon tries really hart to make it work. For all of them. He never tried to break them up, did he? And as far as we see from promos it's Elena to make the first move now, not Damon. Besides: It was Stefan who broke up with her, not her who broke up with him. She just didn't lie. Would he prefer if she lies to him and denies her attraction to Damon? I don't get why Stefan is giving Damon a hard time. Not his fault.
The Damon/Elena situation definitely is part of the brake up. I'm not sure it's the only one. I mean, if you think back, things hadn't been so good between Stefan and Elena for a while. He keeps letting her down, is lying to her, keeping secrets, … Now he works with Klaus. There is a reason Elena trusted Damon more lately. Rethink S3. Stefan was never there for her, even after he came free from Klaus. Damon was the only one she could rely on. They all tried to make it work. Stefan, Elena. Damon never tried to get between them, never tried to break them up. O.K., you cannot compare the Katerina situation to the Elena situation. In both cases both brothers loved the same girl, true. But Katerina wanted them both and she had them both. But I doubt she loved (really loved) either of them. She played with both brothers and messed with their relationship. She didn't care if she got between them. And it only worked (the brothers didn't kill themselves out of jealousy like in the books), because she compelled them both. Elena is completely different. She made a choice. She choose Stefan and she stayed with him. She didn't hook up with his brother while she was with Stefan and she fought really hard to put a distance between her and Damon (denying the attraction between them). Also Damon never tried to get between her and Stefan. And the Elena/Damon make-out (the motel) came long after it was over between Elena and Stefan. And when she got back with Stefan, Damon wanted to leave so he wouldn't get between his brother and his girl.
How did Damon put it? "If the people see good, they expect good" I think he messed up several times in the past by trying to be good, so he gave it up. Just my guess. And of course Stefan was favored. You must admit that Damon acted like the biggest ass at the beginning of S1.
No apparently Stefan doesn't see that Damon just wants to help. All he sees is, that he broke up with the girl he loves (remember that HE broke up), cause she has feeling for his brother (and he can't handle it). But he doesn't see how hard Elena AND Damon tried to make it work between her and Stefan. Elena and Damon were so long denying their attraction. And Damon never tried to break them up, did he? He didn't even make a move on Elena while Stefan was gone for months (I still admire him for that amount of character). But I do understand that he is hurt. Still no reason to give his brother a hard time.
You crazy? Damon NEVER tried to get between Stefan and Elena. He made his move in the start of S1, true. But by that time Elena and Stefan weren’t together yet. After they got together Damon never tried to sabotage their relationship or get between them. And if you now think of that kiss in the last ep, … It wasn’t Elena it was Katerina. And she played with him, made him kiss her. The real Elena wouldn't let him come so close. He would feel her refusal and never let that kiss happen. In S2, when he told her he loves her, he made her forget. So he got it out of his system but making sure not to damage her relationship with Stefan. In S3, when Stefan was gone for months, killing with Klaus, he never tried to make a move on Elena. They got close, but none of them made a move. Till that motel. It was coming from Elena at least as much as from Damon. And by that time it was more than clear that it was over between her and Stefan (for that moment). And he wanted to leave MF if she chooses to be with Stefan, so he wouldn’t mess with their relationship.
"Damon NEVER tried to get between Stefan and Elena." I'm not talking about just a kiss. Damon has always been flirty, overly protective and open with his feelings for Elena, all the while knowing how Stefan felt about Elena AND knowing how Elena felt about Stefan. His "I will always choose you Elena" at the end of S2 is just one of his many ways to reminder her of his feelings for her. Even Elena in the beginning of S2, regarding the Katherine kiss told Damon she wasn't surprised he kissed Katherine thinking it was Elena. It's been pretty obvious. Elena picked Stefan at the end of S3, yet once again Damon interferes this season by giving Elena his blood - knowing what that would mean to Stefan. So yeah, I do think Stefan is justified in this scene. Thank God for once Stefan's sticking up for himself for what's been going on between Damon/Elena.

maybe sometimes I get confused but in S1 Damon did everything to try bring Katherine cause he loved her, but i'm not sure if it is explained in show as much as in the book made to accompany the show but when stefan show katherine's ugly side he betrayed her (not damon). Then when Damon fell for elena he did what he had to do for her and a lot of the bad I'm guessing was to justify not deserving her. And like he said in the S3 he was not going to make it easy for her to justify anymore. As for stefan who true to form when Elena stops being this perfect saint he wants to change her back. To me I like Damon more because when he does good its not about getting glorified. And to me in S1 there were things he did out of knowing the pain of what it felt like with vickie and jeramy, made think that at times he wished had died. So Stefan to me is looking for this perfection that will give him some type of redemption. Maybe that why he goes so bipolar...
let me ask do you think that now that Elena is a vampire struggling with who she is and wants. The things he made her forget had a big influence. I get the hint cause it was the first thing that happened after she turned. And i think she feels not judge by him. Also like last season when she asked he never to leave her again, she must know that she can always count on him to do what has to be done. He handles the hard stuff and he alway puts her first.
"I don't get why Stefan is giving Damon a hard time. Not his fault." Stefan is projecting. He's hurt and he's lashing out at Damon because Damon is an easy target. It's not right but it does make sense.
You're right. He never denied or hid his feelings for Elena. But he had it under control (he didn't jump her leg every time he saw her, he had other women and he was polite and keeping distance). And he never sabotaged Stefans and Elenas relationship. He never even took advantage of a give situation. Example? When Stefan was gone, or when he was in the tomb with Katerina, or after Stefan was free from Klaus and made it clear, he didn't want anything to do with her, or when Damon saved her life (like: I saved your life, you owe me, let's make out). And even, when Stefan was on his worst, Damon never said anything bad about his little brother. Like when he lost control because of the blood in S1, or after Stefan lost it after he was free from Klaus. And treated Elena like shit. Did Damon ever said anything like: "Forget him, he's an idiot. You deserve better. Let him go, you still got me." I don't think so. He even defensed him if necessary. And how many times did they talk or touch? It was never sexual. They treaded each other like friends.
Oh, that kiss end of S1. I watched it again a few days ago. They talked. She clearly didn't want him to go (of course that was, cause she needed more time – she couldn't enter the house) and they moved closer. Katerina didn't pull back or told him to stop when he first kissed her on the cheek. The bitch was encouraging him to really kiss her, otherwise he wouldn't. Yeah, Elena picked Stefan end of S3 (don't ask me why). And Damon was going to leave the town. He and Stefan made a deal. And Damon would have leave. He stayed because Elena turned and he knew she needed all the help she can get. Even, if they weren't together, they cared for each other. Would you abandon someone you care about if he/she needs help?
So, she took his blood. So what. If I remember correctly Damon told her to tell Stefan. And she refused to drink from a human. What could he do? Watch her starve and suffer? Could you? She couldn't keep down the animal blood, she refused to drink human blood and she didn't want to talk to Stefan. It was the last option.
O.K., I'm a little confused about the beginning (with the books and the show).
In the books both brothers loved her. After they believed she dies they hated each other. And then it was Damon telling her to go to hell (she said she loved him better) when she wanted to kill them all. In the show Damon fights hard to bring her back, believing (that poor idiot) that she loved him. When he opens the tomb and she's not there and he finds out she was out there, always knew where he was and couldn't care less, he's broken. Both brothers hate her in the show.
I think that, after all this time, Damon decided to fight for her, cause he realizes, that she brings out the best in him. She is good for him. She's always supporting him. And don't forget, she was the first to see his good side, to believe that there is good in him. She believed in him before his own brother did.
"As for Stefan who true to form when Elena stops being this perfect saint he wants to change her back." First, Stefan is such a hypocrite. He has no problems with Elena loving him after him being the ripper again, but he has problems with her dark side? It was one kill. It was a fucking hunter who wanted to kill them all. Second, I understand he wants her to be human again. She never wanted this (who does?) and he believes he would help her. But am I the only one that is clear of what waits for Elena when she turns human again? She'll be Klaus blood bag again. And his breeding sow. Aren't Stefan and Damon clear about that? And Elena? Do they really believe Klaus will leave them alone?
I agree that Stefan goes from one extreme to another.
This attraction between them was there from the beginning. With the time she learned to trust Damon. Believe in him. He was there for her, supported her, when no one else was. It's clear in S3 that they came way closer over the last year –year and a half (in MF time). But turning into a vampire didn't just changed her life, it changed her too. Her emotions and desires. Knowing, what he made her forget, probably showed her, how deep these emotions between them go. On both sides.
He's prove with his actions, that he would stop at nothing to protect her. Which is good, but only to a certain rate.
He doesn't want to blame Elena, and he's probably not blaming himself. Who's left to blame is Damon.
I just don't understand why he isn't fighting for her. Maybe he thinks it makes no sense. She loves Damon and he loves her back. That changes the whole situation. It would be easier if it would be single-sided. Or if she and Damon would be just friends.
I don't think Damon knows Elena feels so strongly for him. I'm sure he suspects it, but he probably thinks his hope is clouding his judgment. After being rejected time after time, I can't blame him for doubting the intensity of her feelings for him. Don't get me wrong, I love Damon and Elena together, but she really as to pull up her big girl panties and tell him EXACTLY how she feels, before it's too late.
lets put aside the fact that everything Elena does is out of a fear that is placated by the people around her and look back on her "choice".
no one at the age of 17 knows truly their own emotions let alone their sexual identity from a hole in the ground. and this girl met this much older man and not only fell "in love" with him but bedded him in the span of a week all while in an emotionally vulnerable position. she didn't really know him and by her own admission said that one reason she stayed with was because he knew he could die like her parents. that initial relationship while interesting, in the same way watching paint dry, and what many viewers pine for has a foundation that is ultimately unstable and never fully matured.
the relationship with Damon is a bit opposite. they have grow together and changed (somewhat on Elena's part, not much admittedly) together and have really gotten to know each other before committing to an ill-timed and emotionally impotent entanglement such as her previous "relationship". as for her initial choice of Stephen for season 3/4 this was again her being control by the fear she has and not any rational emotional truth on her part.
I can't remember she ever told him how she feels, so you may be right. But he has to suspect it. After all the time they spend together, their making out at the motel, and all that happened between them in these season.
Agree, she has to get her courage together and tell him. I think, that will happen this ep. And I think, she never told him, cause she was afraid. She just wanted to be with Stefan and she never wanted to get between the brothers (not after what happened with Katerina).
It won't be too late. Didn't JP promised that ep 7 would be hot and amazing? Didn't she said we should get snacks and beer …
Guess you talk Stefan? Agree that no one finds his/her true love with 17. But Elena fall in love with Stefan and wanted to be with him BEFORE she knew he is a vampire. Just as you said it, she said to Matt last season (when he asked her how she can stand being around them) that it felt safe cause they couldn't just die. But I don't think it was the reason she was with him. She wanted him before she knew about him. Agree on the part with Damon. She hated him at the beginning, but learned to trust him over the time. Lately she trusted him more than Stefan. But this strong attraction was there from the beginning. And I think she'll be better off with Damon. Seriously. How many times did Stefan let her down? Now he betrayed her by working with Klaus behind her back …
actually, she did not say "i love you" or sleep with Stephen until after she knew he was a vampire. going on a few dates before does not constitute love, a physical attraction sure, but she didn't say it or act on it still after she knew.
As I said. She fall in love with Stefan and wanted to be with him BEFORE she knew he is a vampire. She was attracted to him form the first time they met. But nothing happened (except a few kisses) till she found out the truth.
He was holding back, afraid to hurt her or that she would run away when she found out. And she was also holding back, because she knew he was hiding something. That's the reason nothing happened before.
After she found out the truth she was afraid, but became comfortable with him being a vampire, knowing he would never hurt her. Then they were both ready to take the next step.
yes, and as i said i don't think that argument holds water and as you even said it was an "attraction". you can think that if you like but again as i mentioned i don't think going on a few dates and kissing constitutes "love" or being "in love". maybe to the vulnerable hormone riddled teen mind of Elena it does and that it what you picked up on but that for me was not it and she did not mention or say it still after she knew he was a vampire.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Wow, Stefan, bitter much?
ReplyDeleteDamon's being nice to him and this is how he reacts?? can I punch him?

It's clear in S3 that they came way closer over the last year –year and a half (in MF time). But turning into a vampire didn't just changed her life, it changed her too. Her emotions and desires. Knowing, what he made her forget, probably showed her, how deep these emotions between them go. On both sides.
He's prove with his actions, that he would stop at nothing to protect her. Which is good, but only to a certain rate.
Agree. It makes sense. But it's not right.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't want to blame Elena, and he's probably not blaming himself.
ReplyDeleteI like you :)
ReplyDeletelets put aside the fact that everything Elena does is out of a fear that is placated by the people around her and look back on her "choice".
ReplyDeleteno one at the age of 17 knows truly their own emotions let alone their sexual identity from a hole in the ground. and this girl met this much older man and not only fell "in love" with him but bedded him in the span of a week all while in an emotionally vulnerable position. she didn't really know him and by her own admission said that one reason she stayed with was because he knew he could die like her parents. that initial relationship while interesting, in the same way watching paint dry, and what many viewers pine for has a foundation that is ultimately unstable and never fully matured.
the relationship with Damon is a bit opposite. they have grow together and changed (somewhat on Elena's part, not much admittedly) together and have really gotten to know each other before committing to an ill-timed and emotionally impotent entanglement such as her previous "relationship". as for her initial choice of Stephen for season 3/4 this was again her being control by the fear she has and not any rational emotional truth on her part.
I can't remember she ever told him how she feels, so you may be right. But he has to suspect it. After all the time they spend together, their making out at the motel, and all that happened between them in these season.
ReplyDeleteAgree, she has to get her courage together and tell him.
Gee
ReplyDeleteThanks ;)

ReplyDeleteGuess you talk Stefan? Agree that no one finds his/her true love with 17. But Elena fall in love with Stefan and wanted to be with him BEFORE she knew he is a vampire. Just as you said it, she said to Matt last season (when he asked her how she can stand being around
ReplyDeletethem) that it felt safe cause they couldn't just die.
Seriously. How many times did Stefan let her
down? Now he betrayed her by working with Klaus behind her back …
actually, she did not say "i love you" or sleep with Stephen until after she knew he was a vampire. going on a few dates before does not constitute love, a physical attraction sure, but she didn't say it or act on it still after she knew.
ReplyDeleteAs I said. She fall in love with Stefan and wanted to be with him BEFORE she knew he is a vampire. She was attracted to him form the first time they met. But nothing happened (except a few kisses) till she found out the truth.
ReplyDeleteHe was holding back, afraid to hurt her or that she would run away when she found out.
