Thank you all for participating in nominating character attributes for Sam, Dean, Bobby, and Cas. You came up with a lot of great descriptions, and I'll be launching the first individual character poll tomorrow.
For those who missed the previous post, what we're doing is gathering a collection of fan-nominated adjectives or phrases that best describe the four SPN characters, and then setting up polls to vote on the top 20 nominated selections for each characters. With all of the discussion on what is "out of character," this exercise is intended to see on how most fans perceive these characters and let fans rank those character traits by relevance.
The nominations are now in, but I have a few clean-up activities before we move forward. First, with both Sam and Dean, all of the attributes that got three or more nominations made the list to be in the poll, but I have a few remaining slots for each character, with too many attributes that got two votes to fit the number of open slots. So I'm posting a couple of polls to select the remaining attributes. These are not the top nominated choices - only the ones that are on the borderline of making it into the poll. With Cas, there were exactly 20 choices that got two or more votes, and with Bobby there were 18 choices that got two or more votes. I'm going to run Bobby's poll with just 18 choices rather than 20.
So vote for one in each of the following polls. These two polls will only be open for 24 hours so that we can quickly move on to the first big character poll.
I made some judgment calls to combine certain terms that were almost identical in meaning. I've listed them below. If you have strong objections to my decisions, please post your thoughts below.
Sam:
Empathetic/sympathetic
Issues with control and power and feeling deprived of those things for much of his life/ Control issues
Smart/Intelligent/brainy
Strength/strong
Dean:
Guilt-ridden/guilt complex
Insecure/self-doubting
Selfless/self-sacrificing
Bobby:
Fatherly/paternal
