-----------
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean sweep for CBS, with a first-place overnight finish in each of the six half-hours care of NCIS (10.0 rating/16 share), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (9.4/15) and recent entry Vegas (6.4/11). But retention for Vegas of only 69 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of NCIS: Las Vegas (9.3/15) and the growing older skew makes its future past this season a question mark.
Second overall was ABC thanks to the live Dancing With the Stars Results Show, which finished No. 2 in the 8 p.m. hour with a healthy 9.4/15. But the combination of sitcoms Happy Endings (#3: 3.9/ 6) and Don’t Trust the B____ in Apartment 23 (#3: 2.7/ 4) from 9-10 p.m. did not capitalize on the lead-in support. And soon-to-conclude Private Practice earned its cancellation stripes, with a 3.3/ 6 (#2t) at 10 p.m.
The positive news on NBC, of course, was The Voice, with a third-place 6.4/10 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, The Voice built by 73 percent from the first half of former time period occupant The Biggest Loser on the year-ago evening (3.7/ 6 on 11/22/11). And it will win the time period among adults 18-49. Next on NBC were freshman sitcoms Go On (#2: 4.0/ 6) and The New Normal (#2: 3.2/ 5) from 9-10 p.m., which are not benefitting against sitcoms on ABC and Fox. And Parenthood closed the night with a 3.3/ 6 (#2t) at 10 p.m., which was on par with the year-ago evening.
Elsewhere, Fox’s two-hour sitcom block -- Raising Hope (#4: 2.7/ 4), Ben and Kate (#4: 1.9/ 3), New Girl (#4: 3.4/ 5) and The Mindy Project (#4: 2.2/ 4) – continues to underperform. Comparably, the quartet slipped by an average of 62 percent from two-hours of The X Factor on the year-ago evening (6.5/10 on 11/22/11). And The CW could not compete with its combination of Hart of Dixie (#5: 1.2/ 2) and Emily Owens, M.D. (#5: 1.1/ 2).
