-Ratings Breakdown:
There was nothing unusual to report on this eighth Monday of the current TV season, with diluted ABC still tops in the overnights and NBC poised for victory among adults 18-49 thanks to The Voice. Excluding year-to-year growth of a stellar 121 percent for NBC, the pattern elsewhere was double-digit erosion.

Dancing With the Stars on ABC topped the night in the overnights with a 10.1 rating/11 share from 8-10 p.m., which was 22 percent below the 13.0/19 on the year-ago evening. Tom Bergeron and company held a 44 percent advantage over aforementioned The Voice on NBC (7.0/11 from 8-10 p.m.). But The Voice owns the block among adults 18-49 (and other key demos), and the growth from year-ago occupant The Sing Off (2.7/ 4 on 11/14/11) was a whopping 159 percent.

Castle on ABC dominated the 10 p.m. hour in the overnights, with a 6.9/12. But third-place Revolution on NBC (4.6/ 8) is the show to beat among adults 18-49 thanks to the lead-in support from The Voice. Retention for Castle out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Dancing With the Stars (10.2/15) was 68 percent. And the retention for Revolution out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of The Voice (6.7/10) was 69 percent.

Over at CBS, facing The Voice remains costly with the two-hour comedy block dipping by 32 percent, on average, from one year earlier. How I Met Your Mother opened with a 5.4/ 8 (#3) at 8 p.m., which was a less significant 18 percent below the 6.6/10 one year earlier. But the sore spot is recent entry Partners, which dipped to a fourth-place 3.8/ 6 at 8:30 p.m. And that was, comparably, was 30 percent below lead-in How I Met Your Mother and 49 percent behind year-ago occupant 2 Broke Girls (7.5/11 on 11/14/11). Chances are CBS will make a decision on the future of Partners this week.

At 9 p.m., 2 Broke Girls (which truly pushed the envelope last night) perked up to a 6.1/ 9 (#3) at 9 p.m. And that built from lead-in Partners by a hefty 61 percent. But minus The Voice in the competitive mix last year, former time period occupant Two and a Half Men was considerably stronger at a 9.5/14. Three-year-old Mike & Molly (#3: 5.9/ 9 at 9:30 p.m.) remains perfectly compatible out of 2 Broke Girls, while Hawaii Five-O finished second behind Castle at 10 p.m. with a 5.5/ 9. Year-to-year, Hawaii Five-O slipped by 27 percent.

Elsewhere, tired Bones on Fox scored a 4.5/ 7 (#4) from 8-9 p.m., which was six percent below failed year-ago occupant Terra Nova (4.8/ 7 on 11/14/11). And sure-to-be axed The Mob Doctor followed with a series-low 2.2/ 3 at 9 p.m., which was 54 percent below year-ago occupant House (4.8/ 7 on 11/14/11). The CW barely registered, meanwhile, with its combination of 90210 (#5: 1.0/ 1) and Gossip Girl (#5: 0.8/ 1). As a reminder, midseason Fox drama The Following with Kevin Bacon debuts in the Monday 9 p.m. hour on January 21. And The Carrie Diaries, the prequel to Sex and the City, bows in the Monday 8 p.m. hour on The CW on January 14.
