I loved it! Brover was adorable. All the Barney/Robin moments were cute. LOL at her realizing her aunt's good friend wasn't just a friend.
Ugh at Victoria pulling an Emily on Ted, and Ted seriously considering it. Glad he changed his mind, though. But what the hell is with these people and proposing willy nilly? Stop that.
And Nick clearly has no idea about Barney and Robin's past. Love his failed catchphrases.
Aw, poor Barney I just want to give him the biggest Brohug ever right now he clearly needs one desperately right now. The B/R moments were great it's always nice to get more on their backstory with them going to bring her dogs to her aunts farm it's sweet that Barney went with her to bring the dogs there. It's pretty clear that Robin is putting Barney above her relationship with Nick even if she seems happy with Nick now she is still there for Barney when he needs someone. Marshall was hilarious in this episode he's turned into such a girl it's funny and kind od cute. Not going to talk about the whole Victory and Ted situation I just don't care but it's a shame that they made Victoria this way when I liked her.
Of course it was. Many writers on HIMYM were previously writing on Friends. It started some time ago, and coincided with decline in HIMYM quality (it got to the point where it is only slightly better than Friends)
I really loved this episode, I loved Brover (I hope to see him at the wedding as a best man sort of thing) Marshall and Lilly funny as ever. But I loved Victoria's last line it was so great. Can't wait for next week
I am so much more fan of a Ted than this whole Barney+Robin thing. Seriously, we do know they are gonna end up with each other, but we have no clue about the mother. That's why I'd rather watch every next episode about Ted than one episode about Robin+Barney.
My thoughts exactly. Ted has made some mistakes, obviously, but I've enjoyed watching him progress through all that. He's a fallible of lovable character, so I think that makes him very real. As opposed to the entirely cliche BS that embodies the Barney/Robin relationship.
So... they totally misused victoria in these episodes. She is meant to be this great girl and was so great in season 1/2 yet we only really got cameos of her up until this breakup. Which whilst foreshadowed was really badly handled.
The other two storylines were utter balls as well, having a wing-dog streched all bounds of realism and really REALLY didn't work. There were better ways of showing Barney having a break down but this was dumb and felt like it came from a kids telly show.
Marshall was completely out of character as well for the most part. Yeah I get that he was meant to be helping Lily out but again it was ridiculously stupid yet played totally straight.
Robin was the only good thing about this episode, Ted as well I guess but because of the way they have treated Victoria this season it doesn't really count.
I know that Robin would be the obvious reason why Ted and Victoria would break up, but I really didn't want it to be. It now pretty much means at some point they're going to have to revisit Ted/Robin AGAIN and now we've watched Ted be in love with this woman for 8 years, the mother will have to be something pretty damn amazing for Ted to get over her. But other than that loved Brover and the rest of the episode!
i loved the episode. Man, I like Robin and Barney as much as the next person and all that and it will be nice when they finally end up together, but for me the show should end with Robin and Ted. The whole show, from day 1, has been about the two of them. I have grown to accept that, but I still love the two of them together more than barney and robin. But i guess the overall point is that sometimes the person you end up with is not necessarily the most important person to you, though it's the one you are able to build a life with.
Definitely. I'm fairly new to the show (like started watching reruns before the seventh season), so I pretty much watched the first 6 seasons on netflix in about a month. Since I saw it so close together, I don't feel like Ted/Robin happened very long ago, and thus find Barney/Robin horrible in comparison since it's so fresh on my mind. It may have dulled for people who've watched the show from the beginning, but I'm very much a fan of Ted and Robin's relationship (even if it's obvious they can't be together, as you said).
I have grown to like robin and barney for what it is and yeah, i want to see them ending up together as much as anyone else, but just because i know ted and robin are not an otpion. For me, ted and robin would be my end game. I watched the first four seasons straight, so it was a bit the same for me. Ted and Robin were the thing of this show. I loved season 2 when they were together, it is still my favorite season up to today. But even after that, the writers have made such an amazing job with their relationship and how they keep coming back to each other. Having said this, i do root for barney and robin, but on a much more secondary "would be nice" kind of level, hard to explain. But as i have said above, i do think the point of the show in the end will be something along the lines of "the one you end up with is not necessarily the most important one for you"
Haha okay, I'm good with a Barney/Robin fan that prefers Ted/Robin. And Robin being the most important person in Ted's life and vice versa? Yeah, I could deal with that. ;) But as I saw in another comment, they (the writers) are totally setting themselves up for failure with bringing the mother in. Regardless of who it will be, I have an EXTREMELY hard time believing she will be presented in a credible enough way for Ted to officially get over Robin. It'll very much discredit Ted and his future wife's relationship, in my opinion.
I have been watching HIMYM for the passed 2 years now and maybe more and i never got bored of ted and Robin's relationship.I always knew Robin was Ted's one true love.I ship them to death, and who says they can't end up together.Just because she is not the mother doesn't mean she and ted can't end up together.
This episode was epic. For a moment when Ted called Robin i was like scared but once again he is Ted and no matter whom he dates or what he does Robin will always be the most important person in his life and his one true love,he can never get over her. People keep saying ted and Robin can't end up together.I believe they can AND they will.I mean why else would they make ted say "I love you" to Robin almost every single season? He keeps doig things for her and they keep coming back to each other.I think Robin loves both Barney and Ted.so she can't really decide whom to choose (ughh i hate love traingles) but she did have second thought on the day of her wedding which says alot about her feelings both towards ted and Barney. Robin is not the mother doesn't mean she and ted can't end up together.
Ted/Robin fans unite! Cuz I see WAY too few of us! ;) I always keep a little nugget of hope, however unlikely. But I guess even the writers want people to keep that either nugget of hope/doubt in regards to the relationships, otherwise they wouldn't be mentioning stuff. But yeah, they're going to have to pull something extremely creative to do that well. It would completely renew my faith in the writers
Liked the Brover stuff, but Ted proposed way too quickly so that storyline was a bit naff. It's a shame there doesn't seem to be much for Lily/Marshall to do any more.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Totes dug that episode. Like a lot. <3
ReplyDeleteIt was okay. I am so sick of Ted. The scene where Barney and Robin returned Brover was cute. That's about it.

Great episode!
I can't wait to see how Barney and Robin will get back together.

Brover was so cute :) And I really enjoyed Nick's catchphrase attempts haha
ReplyDeleteHaha I didn't even consider the correlation to Friends with Ross/Rachel/Emily. It was pretty much the same situation, just played out much quicker.
ReplyDeleteOf course it was. Many writers on HIMYM were previously writing on Friends. It started some time ago, and coincided with decline in HIMYM quality (it got to the point where it is only slightly better than Friends)

ReplyDeleteI agree, Victoria's last line was awesome. Completely made the episode for me...made my suppressed Ted/Robin shipperness squee for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI am so much more fan of a Ted than this whole Barney+Robin thing. Seriously, we do know they are gonna end up with each other, but we have no clue about the mother. That's why I'd rather watch every next episode about Ted than one episode about Robin+Barney.
ReplyDeletewhy do u need more clues when we know ted meets the mother at Robin+Barney wedding Day (TRAIN STATION). what more clues u want. or wat is left.
ReplyDeleteOne of the better episodes of this season.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly. Ted has made some mistakes, obviously, but I've enjoyed watching him progress through all that. He's a fallible of lovable character, so I think that makes him very real. As opposed to the entirely cliche BS that embodies the Barney/Robin relationship.

I didn't know that some of the writers from Friends now write for HIMYM. And are you implying that Friends wasn't good?
ReplyDeleteI know that Robin would be the obvious reason why Ted and Victoria would break up, but I really didn't want it to be.

ReplyDeleteMine as well. I have always loved them, though I tend to forget that cause I know they won't end up together. But the writers make it very hard
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. I'm fairly new to the show (like started watching reruns before the seventh season), so I pretty much watched the first 6 seasons on netflix in about a month.
