What a fun fun ep! Filled with all sorts of geektastic fun and goodness for all! Loved all the bits of references whether it be from Firefly, Star Wars, Star Trek etc…. Loved Nathan Fillion’s Shatneresque ramble and his momentary breaking the 4th wall when he looked directly into the camera to include the audience in…. and nerdy Beckett and hot Alexis… need I say more? Loved it
Oh my god, can I just say that the last scene caught me completely off guard? I was ready for a sexy Caskett moment but instead I was surprised by Beckett's mask and found myself laughing on the floor for 10 whole minutes!
Really amazing episode! kinda wished Beckett reacted a little bit more to Castle bringing up kids, though.
If Molly Quinn wanted to show everyone that she's grown up...mission accomplished. I can now no longer remember her as a young teenager. Every young actress does that whole transformation thing eventually, trying to show the world that they're no longer a little girl.
And a big thank you from all the female form lovers out there. Molly is insanely hot. ;)
Well that'll teach Castle to A: mess with Beckett's fav show, and B: to never ever ever ask her to dress up for him again, lmao. Remember Vampire Weekend? Yeah Castle she's got you again XD
I'm afraid that make-out sess is a bust though, rofl poor Castle might be traumatized for a while, if his knocking into his own furniture is a sign.
Thoroughly silly, thoroughly entertaining episode, and I loved watching these guys basking in the fun of a little pure geekiness. Just awesome. Nathan and Stana especially - no surprise here - both knocked it out of the park.
I loved when Beckett mentioned to Castle that what Alexis was wearing wasn't very different from what he wanted her to wear. Way to make it that much weirder, Beckett.
I enjoyed that wayyyyy more than I should have... Kate's fangirling, Castle's protective father instincts, and maybe best of all, Castle running away when Kate came out in that mask at the end hahaha
And of course, the Firefly references at the beginning were fantastic :)
it is probably foreshadowing, essentially. It was put their on purpose so that we now know that Castle would indeed be open to having more kids, now on the other hand we still do not know if Beckett would ever want kids??? I am sure this will slowly be brought up this season, it is a pretty big issue in relationships.
I am freaking GIDDY! That is one ep I will be re-watching...several times. :-)
This was just amazingly good fun. Every moment. The leaf. LOL. One thing that stuck out to me was Stana Katic's performance. When Captain Max walked onto the ship she looked so excited and moments later the look of disappointment on her face...she nailed it all.
There was just so much wonderful stuff if I mentioned my favorite bits I'd end up writing a moment by moment recap.
I was expecting Beckett to be wearing a full creaver costume, but when her foot came out in the heels I figured I was wrong and we were going to get sexy....the mask caught me completely off guard. LOL
I agree without about the kids scene...I was surprised she didn't react, but then I realized it was all set up for the capture bit.
Don't forget they're dating for 6 months. If they already marry and have children it'd be too much at once. I want them to be married and have little kate or castle but step by step.
If I wanted to see only the best moments I would've to rewatch the entire episode. And when Castle mentioned having kids with Beckett I nearly died. BEST.VERSION.OF.COMIC-CON.THEMED.EPISODE.EVER!
I'm hoping it was on purpose but maybe I'm just making pointless connections but it was amusing to see that several guest stars and the director were/are former sci fi stars: Shimerman was Quark in DS9, Frakes (director) was in TNG, Way is a star in Alphas, Quinn was a star in Eureka, etc. Also the constant references to Firefly were awesome, especially that line from Fillion where he's praising sci-fi shows and mentions "That Joss Whedon show."
I enjoyed it, but not my favourite. It was funny, the last scene was hilarious (I wasn´t expecting that), amazing acting (like always), but.... I suppose it´s because I´m not a fan of sci-fi, so I didn´t catch most of the references. I watched "Space 1999" and "Battlestar Galactica" - the older, not the actual (yeah, I´m old, ugh), but was never a fan of "Star Trek" or "Star Wars", so this episode just didn´t click to me...
I thought it was fun! I enjoyed it. In a way, I was expecting that last scene as it was alluded to. However, I was NOT expecting Beckett to come out of the bathroom like that. So funny!
Castle !! missed you so much (What ?? it was just a week ? lol)
Loved that episode, like always, the last scene was unexpected but It was very funny (hope there'll be some sexy time later this season)
I really enjoyed that episode, I laughed a lot, and I won't forget " look at my life, my dreams come true " and " I prefer Dr Manhattan, the blue skin, brings out your blue eyes " =)
Still, I think that this episode was under the first five, a very good episode but a little bit under them Can't wait to next week again (love beckett's look !!) with the camera, it's gonna be great =)
I thought it was the weakest episode for far this season which overall has been awesome. That being said it did have me laughing a lot. While I love the funnier episodes, the steampunk one is a personal fave, it boarded being too silly. I loved all the Firefly and BSG references, specially since Nathan is friends with so many of the BSG cast and they've had BSG guest stars. I also liked that as syfy episode it had a guest from Eureka and Alphas. I was hoping Nathan would make a Captain Tight Pants joke and I couldn't believe the boys didn't reference Star Wars in the bar scene. I had mixed feelings about the end, it was really funny though. I just cant decide if it was really Stana under that mask, on one hand it seems like something they could have had her double do, you dont usually tell your super hot actress to put on an ugly hot mask, and I had noticed a few times in the episode it seems like lines had been dubbed in after the fact. But at the same time Stana is crazy and she has a very recognizable figure that I am not sure even her double can mimic that well. I also thought the reveal of the murderer was very Thin Man of them.
It's kind of funny that almost all the comments indicate how awesome this episode was, yet the result of the poll seems to be the lowest since season 5 started.
Anyway I really liked this episode though I felt like there was something missing. I'm pretty sure I didn't catch every sci-fi reference in this episode but it still was funny, the interactions between Castle and Beckett were great, yet I want more. I mean there was too little of Ryan and Esposito. No Martha and Alexis was in 2 short scenes. They used to have a bigger parts, their own storylines and now they're kind of forgotten. And without her and Martha we barely see Castle in the house, which I miss very much. Often, scenes in his loft was epic to me. Castle is unique character with interesting ideas and habits so I was hoping to see how he and Beckett deals with each other at home. And if we don't get to see scenes like that, I wanted some kissing/sexy time at least. I'd be perfecktly happy with this episode if it was before Caskett get together but now it's not enough.
And one thing I loved that Perlmutter was back! I love Lanie but he's so funny. His line "and non-detective Castle" - awesome! I wish Lanie and Perlmutter, both could be series regular.
Edit: I watched this episode again and liked it more this time. So my complain above is more of a season 5 in general than this particular episode.
These are the sort of Castle episodes I enjoy the most - light-hearted and fun. I could have done with a little more Ryan and Espo but overall I really enjoyed the story. Also, loved seeing Perlmutter back - "non-detective Castle" - lol!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI cannot recall a time where I laughed so hard as I just did. That was FABULOUS!

fun episode. Beckett scared me in the end, i was hoping for a little bit more romance ;-)

ReplyDeleteLeft me wanting more...
ReplyDeleteReally funny!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wished that too. But maybe we'll have more baby and wedding talk in the "meet the parents" ep. I can't wait for that one.

I think she doubled the number of shots he's going to take to drown that image of Alexis.
ReplyDeleteBeckett dishing it out to Castle at the end was the best payback prank ever!!!! And he deserved it for all the heckling he gave her. So fantastic!

ReplyDeleteyeah it may not have actually been all of her
ReplyDeleteI have one word for that episode: Shiney!
ReplyDeleteI still prefer the payback she gave him during that halloween episode a while back where castle "gave her the bird."

ReplyDeleteAwesome episode. Especially loved the last scene :D
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think the idea of bringing that subject is to be developed later:)

ReplyDeleteLaughed all the way through. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteLoved it!
ReplyDeleteTwo things - "Shiny" and when Castle said, "good sci fi show like that joss whedon one"
That is all.
.....AWESOME...out of these world.....FUNNY..and the last SCENE...JA,.JA,.JA
ReplyDeleteHas it been 6 months in Castle time already?
ReplyDeleteMe too. I loved this episode to bits, but my favourite will always be "Vampire Weekend". ;]
ReplyDeleteThat's the first time they've even broached the subject, so I don't mind it was a short scene. I'm sure we'll get back to it at some point.
