ABC
Once Upon a Time 4.3
Revenge 3.3
666 Park Avenue 2.4
CBS
The Amazing Race 3.0
The Good Wife 2.0
The Mentalist 1.8
For the top 25 markets only
For comparison Cancelled Pan Am had premiered with a 3.1 in the same slot as 666
These numbers mean that 2.4% of adults 18-49 in the top 25 markets (which is only part of the US) watched 666 Park Ave. Upcoming demo numbers will be based on the whole nation. Hence there are variations, usually between 0.0 -> 0.5 difference between these numbers and the pending demo numbers. For example CBS tends to increase 0.3 from these number so expect maybe a 2.1 for The Mentalist.
worse than I expected for The Mentalist O____O
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, OUAT actually did the best. Can't wait to see the ratings!
ReplyDeleteOMG, OUAT 4.3¡¡¡¡ YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ReplyDeleteIs this a series high for OUAT? Woohoo!!
ReplyDeleteMentalist- :( (hope it's not cancelled...)
ReplyDeleteIf these hold, it's truly amazing or Once Upon a Time and Revenge. That's a series high for Revenge actually (tied with a november season 1 episode), although it's obviously likely to change in the finals. I don't think that's that bad for 666 seeing how bad the 10pm hour has been the past week. Apart from Revolution and Elementary, no show broke a 3.00 and only Vegas and CSI got a 2.5. Let's wait for the finals though. But I hope Once and Revenge hold up.
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist what?! Oh God. This is not good.
ReplyDelete4.3 for OUAT? Nice!!
ReplyDeleteGood for OUAT and Revenge. CBS has several shows falling apart this year. I mean they couldn't reign supreme forever, but with H-50 and now Mentalist dropping, they have to be worried.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy with Revenge and OUAT sorry for 666 P.A !!!
ReplyDeleteGreat for Revenge and The good wife... I don't watch OUAT but those were amzing ratings...
ReplyDeleteI was shocked by H50 ratings. The Mentalist free-fall was very expected for me though. Horrible timeslot (delays, lead-in), plus being moved (almost all shows hurt), plus said move being to a 10pm (lower viewership) plus the declines the show already had... The extent of the fall was debatable but I was expecting something around a 2.0 to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI love The Mentalist, but the fact that they never manage to hold the Red John is already tiring. Arrived at a point that they need to clarify that, for the show go on! I hope the author look at this and change to the show do not run the risk of being canceled!
ReplyDeleteI think we are calling 666 dead too soon... ABC's 10pm dramas this past week:
ReplyDeleteCastle: 2.1
PP: 1.9
Scandal: 2.1
This makes 2.4 quite acceptable. Depends of course on how much the strong falls, but if Revenge did that well, it seems it has a good lead in, in a timeslot where the competition is more and more fading away, so maybe it pulls a Scandal and does not fall that much. I agree it does not have a lot of leeway to fall from, but it's not as bad as we are putting it.
Once Upon a Time did very good In the market.Revenge was actully better than The Amazing race.666 Park Avenue Is defently the weak link In ABC's sunday night timeslot but did better than season premieres of The Good wife and the Mentalist In top market.ABC may have more patience with It than If It aired on CBS.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is not about the plot because if they shoot a great episode for RJ it's okay, it's always good to watch. The problem is CBS and its bad moves. You cannot move a hit serie on Sunday and condamned it to death!
ReplyDeleteTotally agreed !! But for comparison Cancelled Pan Am had premiered with a 3.1 in the same slot as 666 !! I think that the episode was good i personally liked it but i want to see how it goes on!!! As for the numbers i agree that is acceptable . I didn;t see that 3.3 for Revenge coming maybe it was all about lead in but i wish 666 have done something better !!! I give this series a chance becuase of Terry O'Quinn but i pretty much liked it !!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with that, comparing it with Pan Am makes it look bad. But if we compare, then we should also compare this. Year ago's premiere numbers:
ReplyDeleteCastle: 3.2 (down to 2.1)
Private Practice: 2.8 (down to 1.8)
So, you see, this shows lost around 1.0 from their year ago-premieres. This means that the drop from 3.1 to 2.4 (if this holds, of course) in this timeslot would be acceptable.
2.4 for 666 park doesn't sound that bad to me. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteActually it's not that bad but i have to say i was kind of dissappointed i was expecting something better maybe a 2.7-2.9
ReplyDeleteOh I agree with you that. Disapointing for sure, I was also expecting more. But in terms of the show's renewal prospects, judging by ABC's very weak 10 pm hour, i would not pronounce it dead right now. We need the finals anyway ;)
ReplyDeleteIf 666 doesn't pick up its bye,bye and really would it break anyone's heart? Nah!
ReplyDeleteABC's sunday is strong enough !!! i don;t know if those numbers happened because it was season premiere but i hope it can be improved there is competition but there is a very strong lead in for 666 P.A !!!
ReplyDeleteRespectfully, SpoilerTV really has a lot to learn about ratings. Especially considering their preliminary 18-49's seem to always end up being wrong. Wait for tvbythenumbers.
ReplyDeleteWhy are these wrong Connor?
ReplyDeleteThese are the Official Top 25 Market Numbers?
I don't think you understand this very well.
Okay, I'm a little confused because the other article about the ratings only has Once as an "honorable mention", but here the demos are 4.3 which is great. I know that they probably aren't completely accurate, but I just don't understand why the other article doesn't have it as a "winner".
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to ask the author of the article.
ReplyDeleteAhah touche. I love this website, but I completely ignore the ratings analysis that you guys publish everyday because I find them a complete non-sense. I don't understand the point of doing an analysis based on te overnights, they are not telling enough and could often be quite misleading.
ReplyDeleteThat is based on total viewers actually households and not demos
ReplyDeleteWhich means? Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe networks make their decisions based on the % of people on the 18-49 age group that watch their show. Total viewers for a show are completely irrelevant nowadays (hence the cancelation of shows such as Harry's Law, Unorgettable and the "hit" status of shows like New Girl). This % in the 18-49 group is what people refer to as the demo. Although there are many demos often mentioned by press releases by the networks, the common consensus is that this is the only demo used when deciding whether or not to renew the show, as this is based on this demo that advertisers decide how much will they pay (rumours exist that there are special instances in which advertisers pay for a very specific demo, such as the cw and teens, good wife and high income, but nothing is known for sure). Any analysis that does not account for this demo is, therefore, quite irrelevant for the show's renewal prospects. Hope it helped.
ReplyDeleteIs this good for The Good Wife? The season premiere only came in at 2.0. Too bad. It was a good episode.
ReplyDeleteFor a premiere I would think ABC wanted over 9 million viewers with a 3.5 or higher demo. Last year in the same time slot Pan Am had 11 million+ viewers and a 3.1 demo as a comparison. It dropped so quickly after its premiere it was running on fumes until cancellation.
ReplyDeleteIf 666 Park Ave drops to 5 million and under 2.o demo it will be on borrowed time after just its second week.
Am gonna watch me the first episode right now and after reading some reviews it looks very promissing!!! ^^ ♥
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time did well :D and it will keep on doing well :) what a season premiere!!!
ReplyDeleteYour mentalist mark is wrong. In your full ratings table, it says it was 2.1 for the 18-49 and 10 million or so total viewers. The Good Wife is the one that was 1.8 and didn't do so hot in that category.
