  1. This is one of my favorite episodes, tbh. It was really good and I loved it!

But what the fuck at the end.

  2. David Morrisey makes a good addition to the series. His Governor is sick and twisted, and I love it.

  3. Great to finally see Woodbury and the Governor namely Phillip...dont know why he didnt want to say his name....but where was his arena with the life and death fights with the walkers?...he doesnt have his walker daughter in his house....the ending didnt suprise me, its in the comics but its sure SICK....lots of changes in Woodbury from the comics but i will take it, lol.....☺....

i hope Rick and company are well rested up cause i want to see more of them next week....the sneak peek was so funny when they caught glenn&maggie having sex up in the tower, lol.....☺...

  4. Awesome as always! The Governor seems like he's going to be an excellent character (I've not read the comics). That ending was terrific. This guy is gonna be a total headcase.
    Merle seemed... nicer?
    Michonne is awesome.

  5. Pretty good episode, I don't think it was as good as the previous 2, but still awesome. This governor seems more suave than the comic book version and I think I like that about him, he's more deceptively wicked than his comic book counterpart. The ending, if you read the comics, wasn't a surprise but still twisted. Was kind of expecting to see his daughter in there though, but alas maybe they're saving that one. Look forward to his influence on the season

And Merle, did he seem nicer? Or at least not so willing to kill anyone who threatened him? I guess they're downplaying him so the governor can rise up as the ultimate evil.

  6. I knew they would have to drop some stuff from the comics because it likely wouldn't transfer well onto TV and the zombie arena was definitely one that didn't expect to be on TV. Still, I expected to see his daughter. Perhaps the arena will arise later when/if the Governor starts messing with Michonne and/or Rick's group.

  7. Very nice episode. The Governor is very crazy. Michonne don't trust him and she is right.

  8. Am I the only one who thought Merle kind of cowered in the governor's presence? He's really got his claws in him.

  9. - Fun to see Michonne use her pet walkers as beasts of burden and then lop off their heads without a second thought in an attempt to stay hidden.

    - Welcome back old pal Merle! XD
Nice to see Merle dealing with his anger issues. I guess he still has a ways to go.....
Is that a stiletto arm or a switch-blade arm? Either way it is simply the height of Zombie Apocalypse fashion! XD

    - I like Morrissey as the Governor, but at times his accent faded in and out and bothered me a bit. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

    - The science geek is an odd little fellow isn't he? XD
Observant and quite smart but socially awkward to say the least!

I suspected the Governor and his men would kill the military group and take their possessions. Just enough suspicious activities in Woodberry to make me feel that way. The pregnant women, the curfews, hidden underground labs, strict rules, the Governor's man following Andrea and Michonne. Made me think that the Governor will keep the number of men down in Woodberry... Killing off new groups of men and taking their supplies thereby eliminating most possible future threats and bring back women for breeding. Sounds like the perfect foundation for a new beginning as run by a dictator.

I really like the uneasiness just below the surface of Woodberry. A mad man's Utopia is a perfect setting for drama in this world.... and makes for a nice change of pace to the wandering. Having a dictator with a calm facade who has great social skills makes them that much more dangerous too. Crazy-ass brutes like Merle are not nearly as dangerous to me as calm and collected thinkers that can kill and lie without breaking character... or breaking a sweat.

This episode did not have the intensity and action of a lot of episodes, but the story development was awesome.

  10. i loved it! good to know Michonne does not trust the guy. She shouldn't
Wonder when will the Governor and Rick meet.
    the ending was so good.

  11. Merle did kinda seem like a dog that just got clipped didn't he? XD
I think Merle is enjoying the perks of his situation and position with the governor more than actually neutered like it appeared.

  12. Oh yeah....
I had an odd thought tonight while watching the recap...
Merle cut off his hand to escape from the roof and the hand looked like a normal hand when the gang returned to the roof to free Merle.

Why didn't that hand reanimate or "zombify"? Shouldn't the severed limb die off and turn?

If the heads in the fish tanks were still animated and "living" I don't see why Merle's hand would not have turned as well. It seems like it should become dead tissue and turn.

Does the entire body have to turn first for severed appendages to stay reanimated? If so, why?

    ReplyDelete
  13. just a guess, but I assume that reanimation requires a brain, which is why heads will still be animated and severed limbs (at least so far) wont

  14. Good ep, not as good as the previous 2, but great story development. I love the pervading unease that "everything looks way too good to be true" there in the utopia that is Woodbury, coupled with the fact that the man who can bring Merle to heel must be a even worse monster. Looking forward to the forthcoming eps

  15. I thought we had seen some severed limbs moving around, but maybe it's just my memories of various other zombie movies etc.....

I guess the bodies were still on the slab in this episode even as the heads moved around so that makes sense..... If a brain is required to reanimate a body or keep a walker "undead" then it ties into the brain "death" kills the walker too.

    Thanks..

  16. The scientist from season one explained it as being the brainstem working to reanimate the body, although at the time we were withheld the info that everyone is infected and will turn after brain death. But yeah since the hand doesn't have the dead then reanimated brain attached it will just lie there. You cut off the head and the body drops in its place, but the head keeps snapping at you. That is why you have to destroy the brain to stop them.

  17. Yes! I'm liking Morrisey as the Governor very much. There's this unspoken threat around him that is perfect for the character because that's what he is - he creates a paradise in the middle of hell, using that very hell to do it.
Great episode, Michonne is my favourite.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I do vaguely recall that being mentioned at the end of Season 1 now.....
Guess that's what happens when I watch shows in the early morning when tired.... I think my brain stem was turning my body into a zombie! . XD

That and maybe it's time I actually do a re-watch of the series some time.... TWD is one of the few shows I like a lot, but have never done a re-watch for....

  19. I wonder if the heads in the tanks are more than just post-apocalyptic decor?....
Could each of the zombies be significant? Almost akin to serial killer trophies or like photos taken at special events. XD

I mean the two walkers of Michonne's showed the Gov how to be camouflaged in the wild and the pilot led his crew to a sizable stockpile of weapons and rations. Hell maybe his daughter is even one of the heads! XD

  20. Good episode, but I preferred the first two.

Michonne was a real stand out though. Love her already.

  21. Yep. Zombiology 101. "The head shot's the only true stopper!" You have to destroy the brain. A severed hand doesn't have a brain.

  22. Enjoyable episode, though I prefer Rick and co. I don't see the big fuss about Michonne - she just sat there looking grumpy the whole time. But I am glad that she is there, because we need someone who doesn't trust the Governor, and that someone is clearly not going to be Andrea. That bint is thick as two short planks.

  23. this episode was strange. I enjoyed it and all that, especially because I like Andrea quite a lot and I have been missing her on the group, and I also thought the governor was mysterious enough. However, I always feel that these safe-heaven type of storylines that always have a twist (falling skies, battlestar), is a bit "been there, done that". It's still ok and I enjoy it, but I prefer rick and company much more. I hope they have both stories connecting soon (no comic spoilers please). Also, I never cared much for Merle, so it was pretty meh seeing him again. I still enjoyed the episode though, just felt much more like a walking dead spin-off..

  24. I think the arena still may show up. There was a pointed silence when Andrea commented that no one was around. It's more than just a curfew that keeps people safe, it's the distraction of the arena, too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I didn't even consider that as the reason why no one was around. Good thinking, hopefully that comes to fruition.

  26. I Love Michonne...but i felt the same way...."Mute" M didnt say a word this epi...but the words she did say were Tough words...i hope we get to see her take care of the Governor the same way she did in the comics which was "Awesome", lol...☺...

  27. I feel that when they were given the Tour in the daytime by the burnette they would've seen the Arena if its there...the town isnt that big and surely it could've been seen....the Arena is Huge with large spot lights...so we shall see...☺...
