The best bit was Lisbon making Jane realize that he had a "gift" and could use it for something truly good. That was interesting, it was like the idea had never even occurred to him. From the beginning she was the one who has been like a guiding light, even as he's stepped further into the darkness.
We can see why Bruno Heller named her Teresa after Saint Teresa, the patron saint of people who need grace.
Just an ok ep for me. Some pretty good tidbits, like where the old comfortable couch came from, how Jane started dressing in 3 piece suits, etc, but it really felt flimsy that Manelli would let a civilian tag along on an active investigation just to distract/appease him enough to not sue. And , other than a few scenes, Jane didn't feel to me like a broken/damaged man. It felt a lot like the regular Jane trying hard not to act like himself but not very well.... Still, a decent ep and interesting development at the end insinuating that even though we know RJ has a contact in the FBI, what if he is in fact the FBI head honcho or someone in a very powerful/prominent position....
You know the actress is pregnant right? They are hiding it on the show, that is why she is getting very little screen time, and why we always see her behind a desk, or file, or in a big coat.
Well they couldn't exactly do much about that given that she only joined the team in the pilot and this is years before. The bit at the end with Rigsby and the file was nice.
Since the beginning? Well, yeah, since Jane got himself involved on the talkshow, but we already knew that. Agreed that it was a fantastic episode, perfectly written.
I kept forgetting to look it up, but as soon as I saw him I knew that had to be the guy who played Sam Weiss on Fringe! I hope he turns out to be Red John because I've missed him not being on Fringe.
It was nice to see another Fringe alumni on The Mentalist and in the same episode, no less! Kirk Acevedo and Kevin Corrigan are sorely missed on Fringe for me.
Was the Red John in the limo? He used one in last season finale, but it turned out to be just his voice. I think it was another one of his friends. I don't think this guy gets his hands dirty unless he absolutely has to. He has created a safety net around him. But a really great episode. That final reveal was great. It puts sort of a new perspective on things.
It will be interesting to learn more about this new Red John ally. He's been there from the beginning.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm still reeling from that final bit with the FBI...what did that mean?
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing this episode I have the strangest urge to see The Pilot .. better yet, do a MAJOR Mentalist marathon at least with season 1-2

Maybe has to do with Red John having someone in FBI informing him or something?
ReplyDeleteSo is the dude in the limo Red John?
ReplyDeleteI wish they would have given more time to Van Pelt. It was a good show.

ReplyDeleteThe mystery man at the end is the actor Kevin Corrigan playing to Robert Kirkland. Also appears in episode 507 "If It Bleeds, It Leads"
