Cheers to Jules for requesting this poll. If anyone else has an idea for a poll please use the Submit Scoop link in the start menu or leave a comment below :)

There has been some online fan speculation that someone may die this season, if true who do think it could be, and why? You can choose two options and we'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.

  1. I went with Gwaine or Percival, mainly because they have new pilots. Thou that does kinda rely on there being a season 6, which I do realise is probably just a pipe dream at present :( lol

  2. As good a theory as any I guess...
I think Percival is one of the longest living Knights of the Round Table according to Arthurian legend if I recall, but of course the series does not have to keep with Arthurian legend....

  3. That is true, they do twist it to their own ends to keep up a certain element of surprise from what is essentially a well known tale

Good to see you a Merlin post Darque, I was thinking that maybe you hadn't watched this year as I hadn't seen you comment. I know you had problems with the last season...mind you, I think we all did in some ways, lol.

  4. I went with Gwaine but if this is the last season, i'm torn between him and Arthur.

  5. I said Gwaine because EVERYONE thinks that and I also said Mordred because, EVEN THOUGH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH, I don't see how they can keep him alive if they are going to save Arthur...

  6. Having to download them and watch when I have time has kept me from making any comments in the episode posts since I am a few weeks behind. .

Lately I have been in a real heavy drama phase and re-watching shows like Deadwood, Breaking Bad, Justified and archiving the lighter more escapists series in the meantime....

I still enjoy Merlin for what it is, I just find it more escapism than great drama... Quite a fun series over all though.

  7. I hate to say Gaius, I adore him! But Merlin is becoming more and more independent and I believe there will come a time where he will have to manage on his own without a guiding hand. It would be sad to break Merlins heart like that again but how can he become the legend that he will be if he always have someone to run to whenever he is scared or concerned?

  8. I know where you're coming from, I'm so glad SoA, Homeland and Dexter are back on to satisfy my heavy drama side atm. I've been watching loads of lighter stuff during hellatus, including getting round to finally seeing Relic Hunter...god know why it's pretty dire, thou seeing Pierrefonds being used in another show so much is fun! lol.

Just finishing up on a The Shield re-watch with a mate who hadn't seen it before. We had decided to go thru Sopranos as our next old/cancelled drama series, but we've seen the first half dozen or so and it's not really living up to it's reputation yet for us :(

  9. It took me a season or two to get into The Sopranos too. I still do not rate it as one of HBO's best dramas, but I respect it for really being one of the forefathers of Cable TV series I guess.

It took me 3 tries I think to get thru The Sopranos honestly. I watched Season 1 and stopped, then years later watched Seasons 2 and 3 and then stopped..... and then I finished up the series later. I never re-watched previous seasons when I started up again and honestly I don't plan on ever doing a full re-watch of the series either. XD

  10. I'm pretty sure Elyan's going to die...

  11. Obviously it is going to be Merlin and Arthur. It is kind of a British tradition to kill off their title/main characters. Look at Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Robin Hood, just to name a few. It won't even prevent them from having a season 6.

  12. I love Gaius too, but...

That is what I thought at the end of season 2 when it looked like he was going to die. The last couple seasons Gaius has turned into Merlin's assistant. We no longer see Gaius ordering Merlin around to do menial chores. Instead, Gaius is always preparing things for Merlin.

  13. Haha yeah, he was my fav member of the team :( It's nice seeing Ronnie and Dutch in Last Resort thou, tbh they are the only reason I'm still watching that, I really want it to be good because those two are in it XD

  14. In the pilot we had Tommy from The Shield too.... Matt Gerald.

On the shield he played the cop who was friends with Julian and Danny and later in the series killed himself in the parking lot of the cop shop. On Last Resort he was the Navy SEAL who took the pressure valve to the head and died instantly.

I think he has been in most every Shawn Ryan series honestly.. I know he was on The Shield, and The Unit, and now Last Resort. Maybe Matt Gerald is to Shawn Ryan as Greg Grunberg is to JJ Abrams! XD

  15. Robin Hood was not the same without Jonas Armstrong though....
I like Clive Standen and enjoyed him as Archer, but the feel of the show was just off to me without Robin Hood I guess.

Some shows can continue on with new leads and be as good or better, but some just suffer on until cancellation.

  16. I agree that Merlin would suffer greatly without Merlin and/or Arthur, that just doesn't seem to be a reason not to do it for the Brits.

Being Human has been entirely recast. Misfits has only 1 original character left. They just don't seem to hesitate to do these things.

I don't actually expect them to kill off Merlin or Arthur, but it wouldn't shock me if they did.

  17. I think Arthur should die. It would do Merlin a world of good and he would finally get to do more things for himself...

  18. I really do not think that they are going to kill off Merlin OR Arthur. They were not sure whether they would continue with a season 6 or with films by the time they finished filming (or at least that is what they let on..) If they are doing either (another season or films) they still need the two main characters.
Saying that - it looks at the moment that Arthur is in freefall, heading for his and Camelot's destruction. Sigh.
