Supernatural - Ultimate Episode Round 4B - Polls
21 Sept 2012
Polls SupernaturalConsider my prediction brackets busted. Yesterday's polls were brutal on me as the hardest choice I made went against me. Moving on to round 5 will be Bad Day at Black Rock, Swan Song (by 8 votes), Changing Channels and All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2. This means we say goodbye to Death's Door, Mystery Spot (sniff), The Monster at the End of This Book, and The End (sniff). Today's polls are bound to cause some difficulty to both my predictions and my hopes too as again some of my favorite episodes are competing against each other. I guess either way I'll win in those polls, but the final four is going to look wildly different than what I expected. How are your predictions going? Hopefully better than mine as we get ready to head into round 5. Don't forget quotes for Good God Y'All, an often overlooked season 5 episode and as always happy voting!

All easy choices, not all easy votes. A Very SPN Christmas, What is and What Should
ReplyDeleteNever Be, The French Mistake, In My Time of Dying. At this point I expect 2 of my choices to
lose and one of them I won't mind if it does - the two episodes are that good.
Ha! I voted exactly opposite today. But I'm not going to be too broken up about any of my losses, to be honest. They're all some pretty amazing episodes.
ReplyDeleteOnly Death's Door didn't pass of my choices.
ReplyDeleteLucifer Rising, Lazarus Rising and Point of no Return. I can't choose between The French Mistake and Meet the New Boss.
Holy crap! Why?
ReplyDelete1. Lucifer Rising - Again, love the brother scenes in AVSC but a season finale comes first. Better villains. More intense.
2. Lazarus Rising - I think I'll cry if this doesn't go through. lol Torture, as WIAWNSB was great too, just not LaR great to me. Brother hug! Impala! Bobby! Pam! Castiel's entrance! Come on!
3. Meet The New Boss- Will never understand love for meta of any kind.
4. Point of No Return- Ah IMTOD was soooo good, but PONR is my king episode of action and angst. Sorry comedy lovers. I like the serious stuff. And hey, at the end Dean got his drive back!
As long as TFM doesn't win, I may survive. lol
ReplyDeleteHaha... I do enjoy The French Mistake, but I know it doesn't need any more help than it's already going to have. It was also super strange choosing between two episodes with such different tones. And I'm hoping for a Changing Channels upset, honestly. I love it, but it's a pretty predictable winner, I think. I'd like to see something else on top.
ReplyDeletewow! can't believe mystery spot is out!
ReplyDeleterelatively easy choices again today even though i do love all of these episodes.
i voted: a very supernatural christmas, what is and what should never be, the french mistake and in my time of dying.
doing all this has made me really want to rewatch season 2 again
we voted the same! there's also one where i don't care who wins, meet the new boss or the french mistake, i really love both of them
ReplyDeleteSPN Christmas, Lazarus Rising, The French Mistake, and In My Time of Dying.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, three of the four episodes I voted for are in my Top 5 of all time...and only What is and What Should Never Be versus Lazarus Rising was actually a choice that I had to think about.
I adore Lazarus Rising and after In My Time of Dying I think it's the second best season premiere the show has had (so far...I have high hopes for season 8!). "What Is" just can't compete with that, which is unfortunate because I'd trade The French Mistake for What Is any day.
My mood about The French Mistake seems to waffle quite a bit as I chose it over Meet the New Boss this time around. Not that it matters to me because I don't consider either of these episodes to be anywhere close to the best of the show, so whatever they meet up with next go round will likely be what I choose.
I think I've waxed poetic about most of these episodes, so I'll just make note of one or two things about my choices I particularly like...
1. A Very Supernatural Christmas; honestly, this entire episode is pretty damn near perfection (hence it's placement in my Top 5!), but I particularly like the scene in the Christmas shop, with Dean teasing Sam and making him describe the wreath to the shopkeeper. I laugh so hard every time. A lovely, brotherly moment. And? The last scene with The Carpenter's playing. Heart = broken.
2. Lazarus Rising; THE HUG.
3. The French Mistake; When Sam and Dean (as Jared and Jensen) arrive at "Sam's" house and see Gen for the first time. That entire exchange is just brilliant.
4. In My Time of Dying; The entire thing. This is my absolute favorite episode. One scene that really touches me is when Sam and Bobby get the Impala and after Bobby suggest scrapping it, Sam says something to effect of just because it's broken doesn't mean we give up. It's so obviously a parallel to Dean's situation and it just breaks my heart for that poor kid!
Even with my predictions busted I do not see Changing Channels winning this at all. I'm not even convinced it will win the next round. The winner will be a mytharc or a drama. At this point I think that side of the bracket will be finale vs finale
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly expect WiaWSNB to lose today, but if it's going to be beat I hope Lazarus Rising takes the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely happy with that result. I just seem to remember Changing Channels getting a lot of love on here, and while I agree that it's a great comedy episode, I don't know if I'd call it the best of the series.
ReplyDeleteIf any comedy can make it to the finale it will be French Mistake but I honestly don't see comedy winning over all.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call In My Time of Dying a comedy by any stretch. There's a lot of drama in that one with the reapers and the fights and the dying.
ReplyDeleteOf all the battles in my predictions, the hardest decision I made was choosing Mystery Spot over Swan Song. I wavered between them over and over again. I'm not happy Mystery Spot is out (predictions or not) but I'm not entirely surprised either. People here tend to prefer the heavy drama episodes to the ones with comedy in them.
ReplyDeleteLucifer Rising because it's a season finale and because I loved it start to finish.
ReplyDeleteYou can't ask me to vote in the second poll, I love both those episodes, they are both part of my all-time favs.
The third poll is another tough choice, but I find it alot easier to lean toward Meet The New Boss. I wasn't expecting Cas to go from 'God' to killing all sinners and what not, to massacreing a room of people, to repenting, to controled by Lieviathans all in one episode. (most likely spelled five or more words wrong in that sentence.)
As for the last poll, Point of No Return, easy. I really liked that episode, loved In My Time of Dying to... but it doesn't compare.... at least not in my book.
Back to the second poll.... This is such a toughie! In one corner we have Lazarus Rising, Dean's return, his reunion with Bobby, Sam (the hug), the question of what brought him back (all the demons scared out of their wits) and finally meeting Castiel (I love it when Dean stabs him and Cas doesn't even flinch, and when we get to see his wings!)
In the other corner we have What is and What Should Never Be we have Mary, Jess, Dean in a normal life, and the near end scene when Sam, Jess, Mary and Dean's girlfriend (pretty sure her name began with a C) all try and convince Dean to stay. I love how apple-pie life Sam's scream and real Sam's scream fit together when Dean stabs himself/wakes up. ......
I think my vote has to go to Lazarus Rising.....
Oh,dear. So disappointed about Mystery Spot. It deserved to win the whole contest, in my opinion. However!
ReplyDeleteI voted for AVSC- ------ One of the many perfect episodes of the series.
X
Lazarus Rising........It deserves to win, even if it was just for the long unparalleled hug, although I love the other ep. too :)
X
Meet The New Boss-----------I utterly dislike TFM.
I didn't need to be reminded so blatantly that Supernatural is just a tv show, with rubber knives, false guns, scenes shot over and over due to bad acting, and incomplete sets like Bobby's house, etc, etc. Even the dialogue was cheesy.
X
In My Time Of Dying---------Another great episode, although I love Point Of No Return too
..MY FAVORITES ALL WITH THE HIGHER SCORE BUT THE LAST ONE I VOT FOR POINT
ReplyDeleteMade things easy for myself this time, and just voted for the episodes with Cas. :)
ReplyDeletea very supernatural christmas because it shows us how dean got the neckless and shows us how much they love each other....what is and what should never be ...meet the new boss....point of no return
ReplyDeleteLucifer Rising, Lazarus Rising, Meet the New Boss and In My Time of Dying.
ReplyDeleteIn the two toughest polls, Lazarus Rising vs WIaWSNB and The French Mistake vs Meet the New Boss my strategy today was just to go with the mytharc episodes. I usually prefer those to standalones. Or you can say I decided to go with the reality episodes over ultimate reality episodes.
LOL, Only one of mine is doing well today. I vote for Lucifer Rising and this was the hardest one for me as I LOVE A Very SPN Christmas. What Is And What Should Never Be, The French Mistake and Point of No Return, I loved Dean saying yes and then killing Zac, Cas beating Dean to keep him from saying yes.
ReplyDeleteWell heck, I just had a senior moment and got Lucifer Rising and Lazarus Rising mixed up, should have voted for A Very SPN Christmas instead of Lucifer Rising and Lazarus Rising instead of WIAWSNB. That will teach me to stop and THINK before voting.
ReplyDeleteGood God Y'All Quotes:
ReplyDelete15. Sam: "I'm in no shape to be hunting. I need to step back cause I'm dangerous. Maybe it's best we just go our separate ways." Dean: "Well I think you're right." Sam: "I was expecting a fight." Dean: "Truth is I spend more time worrying about you than about doing the job right. I just…I can't afford that you know. Not now." Sam: "I'm sorry Dean." Dean: "I know you are Sam. Hey you uh want to take the Impala?"14. Dean: "You know you're way around a gun at all….Hmm, where'd you serve?" Austin: "Fallujah. Two tours. Got back a little over a year ago. It takes one to know one. Where'd you serve?" Dean: "Hell." Austin: "No seriously." Dean: "Seriously. Hell."13. War: "Save your protests for your brother. I can see inside your head and man, it is one-track city in there. Blood, blood, blood. Lust for power. Same as always. You want to be strong again, but not just strong, stronger than everybody. Good intentions - quick slide to hell buddy boy."12. Dean: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow your roll. This is not a demon thing."11. Ellen: "My daughter may be an idiot but she's not stupid. "10. Priest: "Wait. Just back up. It's the Apocalypse." Dean: "Sorry Padre."9. Sam: "No listen. This is important. I…I know you don't trust me. Just now I realize something. I don't trust me either. From the minute I saw that blood, the only thought in my head…and I tell myself it's for the right reasons. Uh, my intentions are good and it…it feels true you know but I think underneath, I just miss the feeling. I know how messed up that sounds, which means I know how messed up I am. The thing is the problem's not the demon blood, not really. I mean I..I…what I did. I can't blame the blood or Ruby or anything. The problem's me. How far I'll go. There's something in me that…it scares the hell out of me Dean. In the last couple days I caught another glimpse."8. Dean: "I went to Radiology. Got some glamour shots. Let's just say the uh doctors are baffled." Sam: "Holy cr**." Dean: "Yeah well Cas carved you one too."7. Ellen: "What's your instinct?" Dean: "My instinct? My instinct is to call Bobby and ask for help. Or Sam." Ellen: "Well tough. All you've got's me and all I've got's you so let's figure it out."6. Bobby: "Enough foreplay. Get over here and lay your damn hands on. Get healing. Now."5. Jo: "Pipe bombs won't kill a demon." Rufus: "Right but in my experience demons come at you slower if they're in a body with no limbs." 4. Dean: "Cell phone Cas. Really? Since when do angels need to reach out and touch someone?"3. Dean: "You're going to go out there again?" Sam: "Well cr** doesn't hit the fan with coffee breaks."2. Dean: "God?" Cas: "Yes. He isn't in heaven. He has to be somewhere." Dean: "Try New Mexico. I hear he's on a tortilla." Cas: "No he's not on any flatbread."1. Dean: "So, pit stop on Mount Doom?"
All my favorites are in the same bracket (yesterday) these are like eh, whatever. :( I probably need to start liking the serious episodes more.
ReplyDeleteA Very Supernatural Christmas, Lazarus Rising, Meet the New Boss, In My Time of Dying.
ReplyDeleteQuotes:
Dean: "God?" Cas: "Yes. He isn't in heaven. He has to be
somewhere." Dean: "Try New Mexico. I hear he's on a tortilla." Cas:
"No he's not on any flatbread."
Jo: "Pipe bombs won't kill a demon." Rufus: "Right but in my

limbs."
lucifer rising...one of my favorite finales.what is and what should never be cause i loved the whole what may have happened idea even though lazarus rising is a great episode.the french mistake cause i loved the humor and the way that they even made fun of themselves and point of no return cause it moved the story forward and it dealt with the whole vessel thing in a wonderful way!
ReplyDeleteLucifer Rising, because as I stated before I don't like AVSC - for unknown reasons.
ReplyDeleteLazarus Rising, because I didn't like WIAWSNB.
Meet the new boss - That was a tough one. I'm not terribly fond of it, but it's much better than the french mistake, although I still enjoy that one. It still kills me when I see the part where Dean and Sam are "acting"
In my time of dying, because it was a good episode and not because I didnt like point of no return. It was a tough decision, they're both great episodes.
I'm not very fond of Good God Y'All- the ending kills it for me.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when the brothers separate in such a bad way. Sam looked so sad when Dean agreed that it was better for him to go away on his own.
The only good moment was when Sam cut off War's finger!
Funnily enough, I don't find any of the quotes particularly captivating either, so I'll go with some Jo and Ellen ones.

[Ellen: "My daughter may be an idiot but she's not stupid. " ]
and
[ Jo: "Pipe bombs won't kill a demon." Rufus: "Right but in my experience demons come at you slower if they're in a body with no limbs." ]
As for the Good God Y'all quotes, what can I say, Cas rocked the episode with his short appearance at the beginning.

Austin: Where'd you serve?
Dean: Hell.
Austin: No seriously.
Dean: Seriously. Hell.
#2
Dean: God?Castiel: Yes.Dean: God Castiel: Yes. He isn't in Heaven, he has to be somewhere.Dean: Try New Mexico, I hear He's on a tortilla.Castiel: No, He's not on any flatbread.

Castiel: I killed two angels this week. That's my brothers. I'm hunted, I've
rebelled, and I did it - all of it - for you. And you failed. You and
your brother destroyed the world. And I lost everything, for nothing.
seriously, I just LOVE Misha's acting in this scene.
Welcome to SpoilerTV. Glad to have you. Thanks for sharing your choices. I loved the back story on the amulet too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't calling it a comedy. Definitely not to me. Though maybe you were laughing when John died, I was very sad. :P
