Before we get to see Season 5, I had the chance to talk to Sons of Anarchy star Kim Coates about the new season. What’s in store for Tig this upcoming season? See what Kim had to say:
Adam: Last time we saw Sons of Anarchy, Jax took reigns as President of SAMCRO. Where does Season 5 kick-off? How much time has passed since the events of the last finale?
Kim: Jax is President, Clay is fucked. It has been about a week since the shit hit the fan last year. Welcome to season five.
***
Adam: What a crazy Season Finale we had, and Tig was right in the centre of the shit-storm (laughs). Last we saw him, he accidentally killed Damon Pope’s daughter and saw his Sergeant-at-Arms position given to Chibs. Starting Season 5, what kind of mental-state will Tig be in?
Kim: First of all, let’s remind everyone that Tig ripped his own patch off. After the events with Clay and Gemma, Tig couldn’t stand the position anymore and if our viewers remember, Tig went to see the ‘ole man and handed him his patch. So the likely successor for Sgt-At-Arms for the new Pres. Jax was Chibby boy. At the start of season five, Tig is unstable at best. He’s completely off the leash. No holds bar. All hands on deck. The viewers will not believe what transpires in the first few episodes. It’s Tig chaos.

Adam: There’s no doubt going to be some sort of repercussions for the death of Pope’s daughter. What can you tell us about Damon Pope?
Kim: Damon Pope is the gangster’s gangster. No one scarier. Ever. In the history of gangsters. I think he smoked 40 cigars in our first scene together. Excited yet…?
***
Adam: Tig has always been loyal to SAMCRO. He lives for the club. But how does he react to a new leader (Jax)? Is there going to be some tension because he didn’t choose you as Sergeant-at-Arms?
Kim: Again, I have to make this point. Tig ripped his own patch off. Even in the final scene of season 4, Tig forgets for a minute that he did this, and when he goes to sit in his chair, Jax the new Pres., says “No, you sit there. You turned the patch in. It’s Chibs for now.” I loved playing that moment. You know, it is the club for Tig, but he is his own worst enemy at the end of season four and start of five. Jax and Tig need to sort out a bunch of stuff. The journey to do that between the two of us has been tough and fun at the same time.
