Pretty Little Liars - Season 3 - Why Toby REALLY needs to be on the A-Team

Okay guys, did anybody else gasp audibly and shout out "WHAAAAT?!" to their TV when this reveal was made? I mean seriously, Oh. My. Gosh. It totally blew me away! Unlike the MonA reveal at the end of season 2, the revelation of Toby being a member of the A-Team surprised me and really shook things up. They totally pulled a Scream and had Spencer sleep with the bad guy! Or wait...is he a bad guy? There seems to be some speculation on that, given the fact that he's pulled away from Spencer on more than one occasion in attempt to find out what's been going on with her. Personally, I'm hoping that this is a legitimate situation. Why, you ask? Well allow me to explain.

This is the first time in the show's entire run that we have crucial information that the Liars don't have. I mean sure, it's mildly sick and extremely twisted to see Spencer loving up with someone who's actually working against her. But it's also insanely awesome and extremely genius. Can you imagine the consequences this will have once it's revealed? The fallout from this will be absolutely delicious, and I have no doubt that Troian Bellisario will knock it out of the park with that material. The fact that she's sleeping with the enemy? Oh my lord, will that ever turn her world upside down! Hanna's best friend Mona was bad enough, but Spencer's boyfriend? That's a whole different ballgame.

I also think it would be incredibly interesting if it turns out that Toby has been the bad guy and Jenna the good guy all along. But because we have always seen things from the Liars' perspectives, it hasn't seemed that way. In their eyes, Toby is on their side because he's Spencer's wonderful boyfriend, so why should they suspect him? And Jenna seems to be acting shady, and certainly has an ax to grind so why shouldn't they suspect her? Having the Liars' POV removed and seeing that Toby is, in fact, a villain was very refreshing and will definitely change the way I view things going forward. In fact, it's already made me question if Jenna really is perhaps a good guy, just misunderstood by the Liars because of their paranoia when it comes to her.

My personal theory is this: Toby is on the A-Team, has been from the very beginning and he sought out a relationship with whoever he could get his hooks into. Emily didn't work out because she's a lesbian, but Spencer certainly fell for his act. Maybe framing him for Ali's murder was part of the A-Team's plan all along to make him look sympathetic and have one of the girls fall for him. And now he's in their inner circle, helping out his devious comrades in taking them down by getting crucial information. It all makes for one seriously sinister scenario, and I really hope the writers have the courage to go there. It would make for some awesome stories if they do.

What do you guys think? Do you think Toby should be an actual member of the A-Team? Is Jenna really a good guy? Leave comments below, and of course, feel free to connect with me on Twitter @carlroberson!
