  2. It was sad but not as sad as I thought it was going to be. All I wanted was for Amy and Rory to be happy and together even if that meant they couldn't see the Doctor and River again and well that happened. They got to live till their 80s and I think that Amy finally got to move on from that little girl who waited.

I'm really glad they didn't make her and the Doctor have a big fall out over something (as some people suggested perhaps she would find out he knew how River was going to die) but nope they left on a sad note but she got to let him know how much she loved him via the book.

Have to say that it was a good way for the Ponds to leave, it was bitter sweet but in a way a much kinder departure than someone like poor Donna who lost her memories.

  3. It was so stunning and heartbreaking- I still can't stop crying.
    It was very good.
........I'm crying even more writing this

  4. Best ending Amy&Rory could have had...
It was amazing and heartbreaking episode. That's all I'm able to write right now.

  5. I feel like an emotional dude reading your comments. It was emotional and I got goosebumps, but the floodgates didn't open for me like during "Doomsday".

All in all it went on like I speculated. Maybe I didn't get that emotional since I watched all Pond episodes in the last 4 weeks. Still a great episode, and MOFFATT....!!!

Am interested to see if River pops on and off in the rest of the season like during the last one.

  6. So rubbish! So predictabley crap, and so craply predictable. I was expecting better. Perhaps there was too much expectation, but I still dont expect much from it. Great to see River back. It was good up until the Paradox. Roll on Christmas...

  7. It was a good end for the Ponds. I'm glad they ended up living their lives together. The episode had just the right amount of River - she had to be around for her parent's departure. However, there were a few niggles. I was disappointed with Rory's abrupt ending - whether it was a reunion scene between Amy and Rory or a mention from the Doctor, I would have liked a little more about Rory at the end. His scene with Amy on the rooftop was fabulous though. Also, I hope there's a mention about Brian later on - poor guy won't be able to see his son or daughter-in-law again. Also, the episode felt a little rushed. However, I like how it came full circle at the end with little Amelia. Great performances all round as well. Wasn't a massive fan of Amy at the beginning but I've warmed to her and I've always loved Rory - I'll miss the Ponds.

  8. It was okay. I had some issues with it:

    1. There were plenty of times where the characters took there eyes off of the Angels and... nothing happened. The Angels should have got them. / On the opposite side of the issue, Amy was taken when 11 and River were looking right at the Angel.... and yet it moved.

    2. Why must the show constantly tell us how pathetic 11 is. "Oh, don't let the Doctor see any you age or any bad things because he is oh so sensitive." Go away River.

I did like all of the Amy/Rory/Doctor scenes though. I love the friendship between the three of them. I loved the P.I. at the beginning, the Amy/Rory scene on the roof (even though the Statue of Liberty should have zapped them the second neither of them were looking at it).

I will miss Amy and Rory. There were more entertaining to me than 11 is, and they are far more entertaining than River Song ever was.

  9. My favorite parts of the episode were actually with the Doctor and River. I cringed at the part where River broke her wrist. :(
I'm SO glad that Rory and Amy were able to live out their lives together. That was beautiful.

  10. For the record. One should never enter a building or room where the doors open on their own. Nothing good ever happens. :-)

The Angels remain the freakiest monster in the Doctor Who universe.

I hope I'm not the only person who was balling their eyes out at the end of the episode.

  11. I felt like, once again, Moffat robbed the episode of any emotional weight it could have had. The perfect ending was when Rory got zapped back in time after they thought it was all over. It was tragic and heartbreaking but they just couldn't leave it there.

  12. The statue of Liberty being an angel came off as a useless gimmick. There's no reason why that couldn't have been a regular weeping angel waiting for them on the rooftop, and it just raises the question of how nobody in the city noticed it with it's giant, booming footsteps.

  13. I agree, if he stopped it right then and there at the cemetery the viewers could have figured it out themselves that Amy and Rory had an enjoyful rest of their life with her name appearing on the tombstone.

ASAIK "Doomsday" also ended cold after the goodbye scene at Bad Wolf Beach.

  14. have to be honest, i was much more interested in the return of River and seeing how she and the Doctor were together . . . I LOVED their scenes . . . i truly hope there will be more River soon and as often as possible.

  15. So sad for the Pond's goodbye...

  16. You're completely right in point 1.I thought the same thing all the episode. It seems like these angels only attacked people in complete dark or when they were afraid....

  17. Honestly? I was expecting more.
I mean,it was a good ep But,for god's sake, this is Amy Pond's departure. It should be more than good. They did such an AMAZING job keeping the plot of Asylum of the Daleks a secret...yet,I knew exactly what was gonna happen in The Angels Take Manhattan.I guess thats what screwed the ep for me...though nothing was confirmed,I had heard the rumours,I had seen the pics and the BTS footage...and when I watched the ep,I was prepared for it. Part of me,a big part of me,hoped that Moffat would pull an Oswin and make this big, amazingly depressing twist for the Ponds. But he didn't. So,hate on me,but I think the Pond's last farewell should've been sadder than the series premiere, and, from my point of you,it wasnt.
    Anyway,overall: it was a good ep,but I expected more.

  18. The weeping angels are still awesome ; if I was still a kid, I would have nightmares about them. I found the departure of the pound sad but not heartbreaking.
    Always happy to see River.
I don't like when the doctor is too openly emotionnal; it doesn't make sense for me that the older the doctor is; the harder separation with companions is too. Shouldn't it be the contrary?

  19. I'm still recovering. It was sadder with Rose, Tenth Doctor, Ninth Doctor... but this episode is very tragic too. Still confused why they couldn't go back or how was it "fixing the time". There are only 2 thing I am going to complain about. Rory didn't have a proper goodbye! And Ponds had to live all alone without parents and friends, just when they started to enjoy it... The ending was beautiful. A nod to "The Eleventh Hour", "Amelia Williams"...
