Emma's pretty new to him so I can understand how she might have thought that the guy who forces girls to sell their babies, kidnapped a man so he could beat him almost to death and tried to burn down town hall in an attempt to manipulate more power might have only wanted to help her save Henry out of the goodness of his heart. But Snow and Charming have known how often he's screwed people over and that he just wants more power, and magic would give him that power.
What? As an audience member we don't even know. And Snow has no back story about Rumple, she isn't privy to all the information we have. So it seems like a legit, if slightly rhetorical, question that we are all asking.
Well in the actual story they are called Snow White and Prince James...here's where calling them Charming because some posters get their panties in a bunch about James' name. xD
It was meant to be a humorous remark. I know that he has a real name, but I find it funny that they end up being called "The Charmings". People will probably keep calling them that even after we find out his real name and surname.
But don't they know about Henry's book? Now that they are aware of FTL they must know that the stories in the book are true and that Rumple is super evil.
They for sure know he's evil. But, since I'm not sure exactly why he brought magic back, it's a pretty good question. In fact it probably is the question at the top of everyone's mind.
My point was they aren't called that in the show they are only called that by fans...so the "even for fairy tales" didn't make a lot of sense to me. Sorry. I didn't understand.
You'e never seen the show The Charmings? It's a show about Snow White and Prince Charming being transported through time and space from the enchanted forest to 20th century America. Sound familiar?
Is it? Snow knows that Rumple is a villain. They all heard countless stories about him being the most powerful man in their land, someone who screwed over her friends and someone who was dangerous enough that they locked up.
I would find it weird if there was a character called Evil Queen or Snow in any other show, but for fairy tales, that's a valid name. I mean that even when the show is about fairy tales, I find the fact that people call them "the charmings" pretty weird.
For his own gain IS an answer. And obviously he's not going to answer and it is rather stupid of them to ask it because he's never told them anything genuine when he asked in either world. But Emma also asks what a sword is, so I'm not surprised.
Why do they think he's going to answer now if he has never answered before? When he's only ever lied and or imparted information when it was in his best interest it becomes naive and stupid to assume he would suddenly tell them evvvverything just because they wanted to know.
I see what you are saying. But that isn't an answer for me. And of all the stupid things Emma (the rest of the cast) has done, asking Rumple a question that he may or may not answer isn't ranking for me.
Can't hurt to ask. He's answered them in the past, sometimes, such as everything they know about the curse came from Rumple. He answered Snow in the dungeon. He's actually helped them quite a bit--more than anyone else. He might answer if he doesn't think they can or will screw up his plans, he might not, But from my view, it can't hurt to ask, he might let something else slip along the way.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Much better, thanks! Gold continues to be amazing!
ReplyDeleteEmma's hair continues to need a brush.
Can't wait...CAN'T.WAIT.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor dumb Charmings. Why do you THINK he brought magic back? Seriously.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I must say it was sort of dumb to ask that.
ReplyDeleteOh, Rumple/Mr. Gold you are my favorite character.
ReplyDeleteEmma's pretty new to him so I can understand how she might have thought that the guy who forces girls to sell their babies, kidnapped a man so he could beat him almost to death and tried to burn down town hall in an attempt to manipulate more power might have only wanted to help her save Henry out of the goodness of his heart. ReplyDeleteI really can't wait.
ReplyDeleteYep, poor dumb Charmings. First for being so stupid. Second for being called "The Charmings". That's lame even for fairy tales.
ReplyDeleteRumple 4 ever!!
ReplyDeleteSoooo want to watch this episode - I always love the Rumple/Mr Gold and Emma scenes!.
ReplyDeleteOoowww Rumple! Gotta love the guy!

ReplyDeleteOh Rumple!! We're in for one helluva season!

ReplyDeleteI didn't get the joking part...?

ReplyDeleteI don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to know that he brought magic back for his own gain.
ReplyDeleteThat's not an answer. Why? What is he getting out of it? Answer: We don't know.
ReplyDeleteWhat does any of that tell them about his plans at this stage?

ReplyDeleteReally? There was a show called "The Charmings"? I thought you were joking, but I found it on wikipedia. Now I'll search for it in youtube, hehe.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. If he is evil and did it for his own gain, why on earth would he explain his motives? There is no point in asking him.
