So, are they still using their Storybrooke names? This is the second time they refer to Rumplestiltskin as "Gold". Is it because they are still used to it or maybe because "Rumplestiltskin" is such a mouthful?
Emma is surprised and never possibly imagined that Snow and Charming (or MM and David) were her parents? Even with Henry telling her every five seconds? Come on, you thought about it. When you moved in with MM, when she gave you advice and made you cocoa, you thought about it. Well maybe your hair thought about it because sometimes that is what passes for your brain in this show, but some part of you had to have considered Henry's story even as a joke. Yeah, totally out of left field. Erg, I thought they were gonna make her smart again this season. I hope using stupidity to service the evasive storyline is just a writer's cramp and we move past it...quickly.
I love the way Snow keeps looking and reaching to Charming it is so cute.
I vote because Rumplestiltskin is a mouthful or the writers got tired (really fast) of typing it. Also, cause Emma doesn't think of them in their FTL identities.
I think Emma sometimes thought about Mary Margaret beeing her mother since she moved to Storybrooke. There was Emmas conversation with Jefferson for example. But in the 28 years before Storybrooke she has different thoughts about her parents. And 28 years (or mabye 26 years since she was no baby anymore) are much longer than the few weeks in Storybrooke.
I agree that she had to have thought about both things: what she wanted if she ever found her parents and if Henry was right. So the totally shocked oh my god I can't comprehend I'm just so surprised what do I even say stuff is silly and either writers needing to postpone and doing it badly or writers continuing to write Emma as an idiot who can't stay with a train of thought and come to a conclusion and act on it.
I love how easily Charming and Snow seem to accept seeing their daughter about the same age as they are. Such good parents. I can also understand why Emma is so defensive and guarded at the moment. This obviously wasn't the family reunion she was always expecting, but, I think in time she'll come to accept it. I LOVE THE CHARMINGS.
I'm so with Emma on this one. I mean, I get the Charmings viewpoint, but you think about your birth parents a lot growing up in that kind of situation, and them turning out to be your age, not to mention your best friend/roommate and the guy your best friend/roommate was having an affair with has got to a head turner. Finding out they're fairytale characters might just make your head explode.
For the other clip, I can't decide if I want Rumpel all angry and revenge-y or not. If he is, it'll be fun to watch because he always does the best schemes. On the other hand, I'd like him to start becoming a little bit better of a person, because that way I can properly ship him and Belle. Part of me hopes a bigger evil shows up in OUAT eventually so he can put his wiliness to good rather than evil. Ah, decisions, decisions.
So glad we got a Charmings sneak peek it's one of the big things of next season - I know it sounds dumb but even though they are the same people there is an obvious distinction between MM and Snow and David and Charming they are great actors!.
Seriously?! if you were told by someone that one of your friends, the same age as you, was your parent would you really believe them? Of course you wouldn't. Emma has grown up in this world, she did not know magic or fairy tales are real. She would think the same way you or I would think. just because she saw everything and now believes, she still needs time to understand it all and let it sink in. It would have been far more unrealistic of the writters to make her BELIEVE before all the curse breaking stuff in my opinion.
I wouldn't believe them but the possibility would have entered my consciousness. She managed to adjust to the concept of magic and still function. I expect the same here. She's been prepped for an entire annoying, frustrating season of her being willfully blind. I expect the writers to not continue to make her so dumb.
I am worried the names thing is gonna get really confusing really fast. Cause if I were Snow or Charming (I really hate calling him that, but I'm not allowed to use James), I would be furious if someone called me Mary Margaret or David. I'd be like "I'm sooooo not them!!!"
I saw these in the topic for sneak peek #2. I must say that I love Emma's reaction to what has gone down. I get the feeling that Mary Margaret is going to need a crowbar to get her daughter to open up about things. She's not exactly the sort of person who freely shares her feelings about stuff. (unless those feelings are angry feelings. She's good with those.)
Emma isn't writing as an idot. She is not the academic type but she's not dumb. That she asked "What is this?" when she saw her daddys sword (I think that's a point you mentioned) don't mean that she's unable to identification a sword generally. She was just surprise to see such a weapon for the first time and she wanted to know what the sword has to do with all the stuff. Sometimes you see a strange car or a uncommon sign and you ask yourself "What is this?" That doesn't mean you can't recognize a car.
I agree with you. Just because you thought about how you would react to something doesn't mean you will, because sometimes their is nothing that can prepare for the actual experience of it. -Let alone in this case, as Emma stated, she never imagined that her parents would be character's that her "world" recognizes as fantasy or fiction.
I think we are suppose to find out Charming's birth name. I don't have a problem when people call him James, because despite who's name it "was" it still is name he takes....It's like getting mad at Lost people whom after "Sawyer" kills "Sawyer" (Anthony Cooper), getting mad at them for still calling him that, just because he metaphorically killed his darkness and became "James". I think as long as people put the character in context, then it shouldn't be that hard to know whom anyone is talking about.
But...but...but! She has to have "imagined" it at some point because Henry's been telling her it is so since the beginning. She didn't even need to come up with the idea herself, she read the story, she SAW the story in the flash when she decided magic was real. Coming to even minimal terms with Henry being right was all part of the finale--she accepted Pinocchio and Evil Queen and Rumplestiltskin, and killing Maleficient dragon w/her Father's Sword, but still didn't even "imagine"? She picked up her father's sword but didn't think hey that's the dude I know as David! Come on, of course she did. So why erase that for a bad rationale to postpone having the family convo and crappy writing to introduce the concept that she isn't gonna be over the moon with Snow as her new tiger momma? IMO opinion they just made her look empty-headed and that wasn't really needed. That's just me. They could have just as easily said she was overwhelmed by the magic/curse breaking/just now believing thing or they have lots to talk about but let's do it privately or yes, she has questions but the whole purple smoke thing seems like it should be top priority. But no, they have her say she came up with all these scenarios but the one that was force-fed down her throat like baby carrots never entered her head. :(
Yes, because Emma didn't really read anything except Alice in Wonderland as a child... This is only a few hours after she breaks the curse. We can understand from her childhood experiences that she didn't often let herself believe in anything bigger than herself, nothing spiritual, nothing magical, so she would have never envisioned her parents as beings of that variety. Especially characters (in our reality) that embody love, happiness, family and goodness...Really Emma was "cursed" too, she wasn't able to believe in anything except Justice, if it wouldn't have been an "innate" love for Henry and a fear of "death", then she wouldn't have broken the curse, but to say that she should "magically" not have issues with the truth, because of what she actually went through, let alone MM's belief that she should just chime in as her mother, with out letting Emma having time to process it, is a little naive and unrealistic IMO.
When she picked up Henry's storybook in the hospital she had a flash of "memory" and she saw the whole story.
Then she beat up Regina and sometime the next day all this happens. I agree with almost everything you are saying about coming to terms with the situation. I don't think she should have come to terms with it yet. HOWEVER, that is not what the writers wrote for her to say. She says of all the ways she imagined this going that this wasn't....sputter sputter sputter. It is the writing that I have a problem with. Either she was so dense that for a season of being written in a very frustrating manner to prevent her from believing, she never even in an off-hand joking way considered Henry was correct and she totally blanked on the implications for the last 12 hours including the time when she grabbed her father's sword and carried it around OR she has imagined it and they are just trying to make her sound silly here. Either way it is a crap writing that makes Emma look dumb and thickheaded. Imagining and coming to terms are different things.
I finally got to see these... the Rumpbelle scene... SOOOOO cute. And I´m so glad that they will talk about the fact that Snow&Charming are Emma's parents. I can't wait to see the rest of both scenes.
I don't understand why some people take Emmas words so literally. When she says she has other imaginations about her parents she means the two decades before Storybrooke. The few moments in the past days she thought about Mary Margaret could be her mother are not that relevant. Nobody seems to take Snows words about waiting so long on her daughter such literally. In fact, Snow doesn't wait long because in the last 28 years she doesn't even know that Emma exist.
Because as an audience for as long as we've known Emma, we've been imagining this very scenario. I don't know how they are going to handle the memories of the 28 years in Storybrook. It's possible they do feel the weight of those years. It could be an allusion to the fact that they haven't seen her since she was born and they had a good amount of time to wait and hope for their child before the curse. MM certainly craved children in Storybrook. It could be a plot hole. I don't know yet, so I'm not annoyed yet.
Yay for the Charming family reunion. Even if this was possibly not the actual reunion. I highly doubt that that scene would be released as a sneak peek :)
And I hope that Rumple doesn't stay evil and mean. Just long enough to get revenge on Regina. Because if there's any show where getting revenge on a deadly/dangerous level would be OK and legal, it's this show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I just love how Snow&Charming immediately started behaving like Emma's parents. Aww!
ReplyDeletelove the charmings, it's gonna be an amazing season

ReplyDeletedid anyone notice tht belle's hair were brown in season1 and in the same scene they are black now
ReplyDeleteLove the Charmings!!
ReplyDeleteAh! So they want to go to Mr. Gold's to confront him first, but the shouting of the mob leads them to Regina's.
ReplyDeleteDidn't notice that but I did notice that her hair looks fabulous. :)
ReplyDeleteEmma is surprised and never possibly imagined that Snow and Charming (or MM and David) were her parents? Even with Henry telling her every five seconds? Come on, you thought about it. It's still brown, it's just darker and more evenly dyed. She's also lost weight. All the perks of being a regular now.
ReplyDeleteI vote because Rumplestiltskin is a mouthful or the writers got tired (really fast) of typing it. Also, cause Emma doesn't think of them in their FTL identities.

ReplyDeletePoor Belle....but hell no, let Gold be all "reveng-y" because it is much more fun!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes... it must be very very weird for Emma. Really creepy.
Go Emma! Don't let MM push you around too much!
ReplyDeleteThis^ Although I think there will be times when all names slip and it may be a matter of "so and so's" perception of any given persons identity.
ReplyDeleteSnow and Charming with their girl.....my heart cant wait fror this season!

ReplyDeleteI love me some Emilie de Ravin.
ReplyDeleteFinally a sneak peek focusing on Charmings! Can't wait to see more. The season is going to be amazing!

yeah they did!!
