A little ways down the road...
Ted sits on a bench and when a old woman walks up to him, he says he doesn’t feel like talking about the wedding he just came from but this being Ted, he soon launches into the story.
Robin had called him into her room to tell him that she can’t go thru with her wedding to Barney mere moments after Barney attempted to go out the window under the pretense of getting a tie. Robin realizes that her's is the same window Victoria climbed out of when she left her fiancé and that Ted tried to climb back into. Of course the audience gets the feeling that the wedding won't be delayed long.
Now...
While Barney and Quinn go to the kitchen to go have sex, having said that they want to get champagne, Marshall and Lily are having trouble understanding Robin telling them... something. It was all garbled.
Quinn asks Robin and Lily to be her bride’s maids because she only knows strippers who might object to dresses with backs.
In the car, Victoria tells Ted that she didn’t leave a note for Klaus, her fiancé. He tells her that she needs to go back and leave one so that Klaus can have closure.
Quinn and Barney are already disagreeing with a few of the things they want for the wedding. When Robin asks Barney why Quinn isn’t bothered by the fact they used to go out, she realizes that he hasn’t told Quinn yet.
Victoria dictates her Dear Klaus letter to Ted and his girly handwriting before his commentary on her words causes her to take the paper back. She then tells Ted all the reasons she’s choosing him over Klaus before she asks him to climb in the church window to deliver her note.
Back on the sofa, Robin is asking Barney why he hasn’t told Quinn that they used to date. Barney tells Robin that he’s destroyed every piece of evidence that they ever dated. (He replaced Robin with a tiger in one photo). Marshall and Lily continue to view their friends as if they live in an aquarium.
Ted tells Victoria that he can’t climb up the drain pipe because of his past trauma in gym class. She gives him the key to her dressing room so that she can deliver the note and then her German bride’s maid, Klaus’s sister, gets in the way. Ted says that it’s too bad Barney can’t seduce her over the phone.
“Challenge accepted!”
And it worked. Ted delivered the note, got back in the car, and realizes that he left the keys in the dressing room and the door locked behind him.
Lily is offended that Barney thinks she can’t keep the secret from Quinn. She also calls Marvin the prettiest girl in the city. (Don't you mean the world?) Lily of course spills the secret and just when they think there’s no way for Quinn to have heard it, she steps out from behind the door which they should have remembered because they invited her back to see Marvin. New parenthood is not as easy as it looks.
Barney then goes into his :60 recap of the whole series to explain how he and Robin used to date. He wasn’t lying when he said he’d tell her the whole story. (Lame!) Unfortunately, that didn’t work. Quinn leaves. Of course the only thing Marshall and Lily got from that story is that she allows Barney to fart in front of her. Quinn then goes to confront Robin.
Ted then tries to get the keys from Victoria’s room. On his way, he runs into Klaus who is also ditching the wedding. Ted then has the idea to switch the notes and absolve Victoria of all blame.
Quinn says that she’ll always be wondering if Robin has feelings for Barney. Robin then calls her boyfriend Nick and Quinn agrees that it’s unlikely.
Robin tells Barney that it was hard to hear how easy it was for him to erase her from his life. He gives her a key and an address. What do you think will be in it?
Ted then runs into Klaus who tells him that Victoria is close to his perfect lifelong treasure but not quite there. It has to be something that happens all at once, it doesn’t happen over time. “You feel it in your hands, in your heart, in your stomach, in your skin... Have you ever felt this way about someone?”
“If you have to think about it, you haven’t found it.” Robin opens the storage locker and finds all the original photos of her and Barney. And Over Voice Ted says that Klaus was right. And then you see the mother getting out of a taxi, grabbing her bass guitar, and standing on the raining street corner with her yellow umbrella covering her face at the bus stop where future Ted sits.
