Game of Thrones - Season 3 - Odds and Ends
5 Sept 2012
Game of ThronesI thought I would do an odds and ends post to share some of the lesser publicized Thrones related material in the last few days. Enjoy

Over the weekend George R.R. Martin was in Chicago for WorldCon and did a 70-minute Q&A sessions with Maureen Ryan and Peter Sagal. Topics discussed range from the casting of Mance Rayder, Martin's script for his Season 3 Episode, why D&D have eliminated most of the prophecy from the series so far, the differences between the book characters and the series characters, and much more. A very insightful podcast!
You can Read Mo Ryan's article about the interview here. You can listen to or download a podcast of the Q&A here or from iTunes.

The Hugo Awards were held during WorldCon this year and Game of Thrones won Best Dramatic Presentation (Long Form). It was up against Captain America, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2, Hugo (oh the irony!), and Source Code.
Here is Martin's acceptance speech where he, along side Ron Donachie (Ser Rodrik Cassel), accepted the award on behalf of HBO.

Two small casting notes from the last few days....
Michael Shelford has been cast as "Lord Torturer" according to his agency. It is likely a fairly small role , possibly one of the Bloody Mummers. I assume this means he will play a man torturing a lord and not a lord who tortures people, but who knows! XD
Also, Lisa Walsh has been cast as one of Craster's wives according to her agency.

Lastly, you know Game of thrones has hit maximum pop culture saturation level when sportscasters are making A Song of Ice and Fire references in their broadcast. XD
Watch the video below to hear it.
Wow, nice find! Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, great reference. lol
ReplyDeletecongratulations to GOT a great show.
ReplyDeleteOMG the reference! hahahaha great!
ReplyDeleteSo Talisa is meant to be someone completely different hmmm wonder how this will effect the big book 3 event.
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering that too.
ReplyDeleteI had suspicions Talisa was not Jeyne Westerling of the books since she is more like Nymeria Sand of the books, but I still have no idea how it will play out in Season 3!
RW can still happen without Westerling involvement and be just as dramatic of course, but it could change who was ultimately behind it all.....
More intrigued than ever by how they are going to deal with the RW stuff, I still think it will make a great cliffhanger to S3 but they have a lot of plot to get through...
ReplyDeletedont tell me im just reading book 3 now im on chapter 2
ReplyDeleteOh boy we got ourselves a Lord Torturer! Maybe Joffrey will get his spanking,or beheading.
ReplyDeleteHa! the announcer,its 'very sharp'
Changing Jenny Westerling to Talisa doesn't change anything important. It still means Rob broke his word to Lord Frey and the RW will still happen the same.
ReplyDeleteIf season 3 is half as good as book 3, it's gonna be more than epic. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Next he needs to say that Western's head coach should send a raven to his Offensive Coordinator.
