Terminales is an adaptation of the Mexican drama series created and produced by Miguel Angel Fox. Described as “Sex And The City if Carrie Bradshaw was dying of cancer,” Terminales follows a young woman’s life after she is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Lionsgate TV and Kapital Entertainment are producing; Aaron Kaplan is executive producing; Paul Presburger is overseeing for Televisa, which owns the format.
ABC Family originally put the project in development in August 2011. In April, it brought in new writers — Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz, creators of the HBO comedy pilot Washingtonienne – to write a new script, which received the pilot green light. This is the third pilot order for Kaplan in the past month, along with Instant Mom at Nick at Nite and HR at Lifetime. He also received a series pickup and Nick at Nite for Wendell And Vinnie and pilot production commitments at NBC and ABC.
Phys Ed is a half-hour multi-camera comedy about a high school’s star jock who returns to teach at his former alma mater only to find that even though he’s changed, nothing else really has. The pilot is written and executive produced by David H. Steinberg (American Pie 2). He is repped by APA and Jewerl Keats Ross.
Continuing Fred, from comedy veteran Bill Daly (Mike & Molly), is about twentysomething Winifred “Fred” Harris, a newly graduated slacker with an overbearing family who surprisingly finds purpose when she begins to teach at a local elementary school. Daly is with UTA.
