The AMC Western might not earn the same kind of attention as Breaking Bad and Mad Men, but that doesn't mean it's not worth your time.

  1. I tried to catch up. But I feel like there's no plot and almost no characterization. I was distracted most of the time I had it on, so maybe somebody can help me out. I like the tone, I like Anson Mount--enough that I can forget Crossroads and take him seriously as don't-cross-me, out for vengeance rough and tumble guy, which I thought was saying something, enough to give the show a second try. Colm Meaney is constantly reminding me of Far and Away, but it's kinda the same role so that doesn't bother me. I just don't feel like I know any of them and nothing is happening. Am I missing something or is it just a slow day-in-the-life period piece with nice art direction and a gruff taciturn lead and gitty/Western violence?

PS. It's on Netflix now if that helps anyone.

  2. I watched the pilot, but it was so boring... I get it though, there is an audience for this, there are people who love this genre, and I am sure that part of the audience really liked it...but I am not one of them and did not really find this show interesting... I didn't expect to like it going in, but I was hoping that a compelling plot or some interesting characters will hook me in, but I found neither... I think this is probably AMC's first failed show... Even The Killing managed to give the very few viewers who stuck around for season 2 a good, solid ending...
