I've always liked this show but the RJ arc is getting tired. They could take a page from SPN and kill the myth arc and start something new . I need Jane to move on from this and be happy. Unlike most procedurals, the case of the week almost always entertains me, even if I know who did it within the first 10-15 minutes, I always like to watch it unfold. I'm sure a lot of people feel that way (aka don't leave me out here on this limb alone).
Jane to move on and be happy? How boring. I want him to ultimately be happy, but that's end game. Having emotional turmoil up to then is THE WHOLE FUN OF IT. I love the Red John arc, LOVE IT. I respect your opinion though.
Thanks BH, now you've thrown the conspiracy theorists a bone. How is Jane RJ if RJ killed people while he was tied up and had a conversation with him? Jane can't be two people at once! Besides, making Jane RJ would be like flipping all of the fans who have watched the show from the beginning and rooted for Jane, the bird.
I agree with you as even though the chase has been entertaining, it (for me) has felt dragged out way too long. I think that the writers could be talented enough to create another myth arc beyond the RJ line (unless you follow the theory that Jane is RJ, however implausible seeming). I'd like to see a new developed myth arc for the show, but have doubts that will ever take place, imho.
It's really great to hear there is going to be a quantum leap forward. Red John, has another friend in FBI (he should start running his own version of facebook considering how many 'friends' he has :D) so I can understand Jane's problem with letting the FBI take custody of Red John's accomplice. Hope Red John's friend does not kill her before she gives up some valuable information. It's kind of weird that these 'friends' of Red John's are so expendable and yet he has to trust them to do some really important things. That is, for me, one of the biggest mysteries. How he gets so many people to do his bidding and can trust them to look out for HIS best interests at all times (liking falling to your death instead of being captured).
I know what you mean that's why every show has its expiration date. After years you get bord with story line and you think there should be a move forward. i do think they can reveal red john. Just because we know who red john is doesnt mean we have to know where red john is. And maybe while hunting RJ new small story lines are getting revealed or touched.
Politely disagree. Red John arc is what maintain the tension, every story needs character angst. The mentalist is a drama show. I will concede that we should move a little forward in the RJ story but in no way end it.
I think there is a lot of happy, funny moments in the show already. Jane may be obsessed by RJ, but the consultant hang on on the bright side of life despite all that happened to him. I like that mix :-)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteHe's just teasing. He wants to leave all possibilities open to get the fans talking.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to put my money on Jane. Seriously. ... Please don't let it be Jane? Pretty please?

ReplyDeleteJane is a variant of John.
ReplyDeletePatrick is from Patrician, Romans allowed to wear Red sandals.
