In yesterdays polls we saw relatively easy wins for Game of Thrones and Fringe, as Pushing Daisies and Firefly failed to provide the challenge that we had seen of them in previous rounds. As such, the two winners will face off in our first Quarter Final.
Today sees our second of the four day of round three, and whilst some may feel this quarter of the draw lacks a huge show to challenge for the final victory, there is still undeniably four shows capable of providing a shock result on their day. We firstly have The Mentalist taking on Gilmore Girls in a poll that is tough to call. The Mentalist has proven to be a giant killer so far, taking STV favourites Chuck and Nikita out of the running in the previous rounds, whilst Gilmore Girls have proven itself with victories over Scrubs and The OC.
We also have NCIS challenging Prison Break in a day that is likely to be tough for the latter. NCIS has taken two of the biggest current shows out of the competition, Homeland and The Walking Dead whilst Prison Break has over performed to take out Dollhouse and Arrested Development. It remains to be seen where this battle will go.
If you want to see the draw for the rest of the competition, and see which show will take on which other show then head HERE for a look.

The Mentalist and Prison Break get my votes today! :)
ReplyDeleteNCIS for me, not seen the others.
ReplyDeleteEasy one for me: The Mentalist & NCIS
ReplyDeleteMe toooooooooo
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls and NCIS for me!
ReplyDeletethe first poll easy the mentalist but the second a criminal and cop fight both good series, excellent cast ,strong base fan and also my favorite but my vote go to NCIS.
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls and NCIS!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist and NCIS! :D
ReplyDeleteVery easy today - Gilmore Girls and NCIS. The Gilmore Girls had a quirky charm and the awesome mother-daughter relationship. The Mentalist tied The Walking Dead for the worst show I watched last summer, mostly because the lead character annoys me so much. I haven't seen much of Prison Break but I got hooked on NCIS thanks to USA marathons and it has one of my favorite characters in Abby Scuito.
ReplyDeletePrison Break, because the dullness of procedural's like NCIS (and every flavor thereof) just put me to sleep with their lack of creativity; also, I prefer serialized television so...
ReplyDeleteAlso, Prison Break (aside from a horrible season 3) was really great TV!
I've never watched the other shows.
..DAHNE....Gilmore GIRLS....I dont see you like a strong fan of a woman oriented series is very refreshing but little ODD.
ReplyDeleteThe most difficult choice. The Mentalist and Gilmore Girls are my 2 favorite top shows of all time. But my vote went to The Mentalist cause it's still on. But GG is always in my heart. ;)
ReplyDeleteNCIS bores me to death - and I loved Prison Break, so that's easy. Gotta go Gilmore Girls as well - I've been forced (this is accurate, but not meant as an insult) to watch the show thanks to my wife and it's deserving amongst the two IMO.
ReplyDeleteI like a lot of strong women characters on TV - Fiona Glenanne, Parker and Abby Scuito being my favorites. What I don't like is emoangsting, love triangles, and soap opera level drama. Unfortunately that knocks out a whole lot of female-oriented TV for me. I like my drama mixed with a healthy dollop of action and humor, a show not tell based story. While Gilmore Girls lacked on action, the rapid fire banter, snark, and quirky charm made up for it and the two leads were genuinely likable for the first few seasons. I dropped it when they stopped being so.
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls without a doubt. Come on, it's a classic. Don't watch either Prison Break or NCIS enough to bother voting on that one, though.
ReplyDeleteEh, still sad that Firefly lost, that show was one of the kind..
ReplyDeleteAnyway, yet again a very easy poll.
The Mentalist hands down in the first poll, because its clearly a superior show and a quality tv.
Prison Break(just barely, despite the last seasons) is also a no-brainer choice for me in second one over NCIS.
The Mentalist and Prison Break. I don´t watch any of those CSI kind of shows, and Prison Break was great the first season and ok entertainment season 2 and 3.
ReplyDeleteI will have to go with The Mentalist and NCIS. While i don't think The Mentalist is going to win this competition,i have not seen The Gilmore Girls.
ReplyDeleteAlthough i found Prison Break to have a fantastic first season, and maybe even half way through the second season it just couldn't sustain that tension....maybe if it wasn't up against NCIS i would have gone for it,honestly i don't know..anyway my vote is in!
Oh those USA marathons got me too! haha. =]
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls and NCIS =]
ReplyDeleteMentalist (even so it was really hard to vote against Gilmore Girls :/ ) and NCIS !
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls for me! Love that show even after all these years. Fun to watch old episodes with Jared Padalecki as Dean.
ReplyDeleteHaha I always forget how much that confuses me... when I was scrolling down, all I caught a glimpse of was "Jared Padalecki as Dean" - and I was like "No silly, Jared plays SAM..." His switch from "Dean" to "Sam" on Supernatural confused me for the longest time :)
ReplyDeleteThey suck you right in and before you know it 3 hours have gone by.
ReplyDeleteFirst one is easy.Never watched The Mentalist and Gilmore Girls was always entertaining with a lot of snarky dialogues, always a plus for me.
ReplyDeleteThe second poll is a lot harder.Even though I do like NCIS I don't watch it regularly,it's one of the shows I catch up on during the summer. But it's always fun with cool characters(I love both Abby and Tony) and it has kept a steady pace during the years, with no dramatic variations in quality.
Unfortunately,I can't say the same for Prison Break.I do believe that season 1 is a masterpiece and season 2,while not quite as good,is still pretty great. But I was so incredibly disappointed with seasons 3 and 4 and it's really hard to get past that.So I'm gonna go with NCIS.
NCIS because it's one of my favourite shows, and Gilmore Girls because I didn't mind it whenever I caught an episode and also I dislike The Mentalist so much that I'm having trouble thinking of a show I wouldn't vote for instead of it.
ReplyDeleteOh, you mean like now,lol....
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls & NCIS
ReplyDeleteAre they marathoning on USA again? I swear they do those all-day marathons more than stores have sales. At least they give theirs cool names. I was too busy finally watching/tweeting about the latest White Collar. This season has been stellar so far.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way. Since, unlike a lot of people on this site, I have no problem with crime procedurals I thought I would love The Mentalist but it was all I could do to finish season 1. I thoroughly despised the main character and I can't follow a TV show if I want to throw something at the screen every 2 minutes. I put The Mentalist in the same category as House. Some great elements overshadowed by an obnoxious lead character.
ReplyDeleteYep,NCIS is still having the marathons but not everyday like they were, but almost! I have been loving White Collar!! Yesterday my cable box had to be switched out with a new one,i swear i could have cried,i lost W.Collar,Suits and S4 of Fringe and all the last episodes of all the shows i watch, and whatever else was on there, needless to say i was a little depressed. Guess i will have to start from scratch...
ReplyDeleteAre you working on a recap of WC?
Sorry to hear of your TV loss. That's a lot to lose. I don't own a DVR and I didn't get a screener of this episode of White Collar so I will not be recapping it. I may try to go back and recap previous episodes instead since I can use my DVD's. I'll also do a tweet fest of the new episodes as they air.
ReplyDeleteI already follow you so i will just have to remember when WC is on,usually i don't tweet while i'm watching but i'll check you out, next time! Oh,come to think of it are you on EST?
ReplyDeleteI'm CST so I tweet during the east coast airing instead of the west coast one. Unless I miss it for some annoying reason and then I stay up for the west coast version.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe they are on this week,if i remember i'll catch you next week when they are back.
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls and NCIS.
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely off this week. I tweeted Ted Linhart about why they took this week off instead of last week. Last week there was so much going on in the Olympics. He said it was impossible for them to know what was going to be hot at the Olympics and didn't want to chase the schedule. I still think choosing to air during Phelps' historic swim meet AND women's team gymnastics finals was a huge mistake but I guess they aren't as flexible in moving programs as say the CW.
ReplyDelete*Scratching head* they didn't know, the first week of the Olympics, with Phelps no less? Well, gee,i think i'm a little dumbfounded....Lets hope the show is around in 4 years,if so i doubt he would make the same mistake...i think!
ReplyDeleteI really was wondering why they were on last week,i watched it when they repeated it later that night, oops, early the next morning..Nice that he got back to you about it!
Of all of today's shows, the only one I've watched is NCIS. Although I'm not such a huge fan any more, there was a time when it was my favourite show and so I voted for it today
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist, never watched GG, and Prison Break because it was a white knuckle show for me. Love both NCIS shows, but just does not have the tension that was in PB.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit puzzled too especially since the Phelps and Lochte rivalry was promoted well before the Olympics. I too skipped the regular airing last week but unfortunately NBC's coverage forced me to watch during the late airing too so I had to wait until today to watch it. Next week I will be using the late airing too because I have to work late on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteYesterday tough choices, today not so much. The only show I watch/watched of the 4 is Prison Break and I hated how the ended that, so don't really like any of them!
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls and NCIS. How is the mentalist beating Gilmore Girls...GG its the best female lead comedy/drama that i have ever seen. i watch it over and over again and it never gets old. And i still dont understad half of their references...lol
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if you saw the movie as well? It made me appreciate the ending so much more.
ReplyDeleteGG is the only one of the four that I've watched, so easy vote here - great show that I never expected to enjoy nearly as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteCould have used a more recent picture for NCIS....
ReplyDeleteWhen I first heard Supernatural was starting I was like Dean on another show? I have to watch this! But I think I was kind of scared by it lol so I kind of forgot all about Supernatural till a few years ago when my friend told me to watch it.
ReplyDeleteWell I hope you've found your way back! Jared's come a looooong way since Gilmore Girls, and as a whole, I think the show is worth a watch. Granted, it got away from itself a bit in seasons 6 and 7, but I have faith in season 8.
ReplyDeleteI definitely have! Started SPN when they were on season 5 and caught up for season 6 live (actually watched Swan Song and 6x01 back to back so I didn't have to experience any withdrawal symptoms between season 5 and 6 =P)
ReplyDeletethe mentalist and ncis my vote
ReplyDeletewhat in the blue hell is going on. I mean that shows like lost are defeated by once upon a time and castle????????
