Hey folks,

In the last day of the competition Supernatural and Smallville easily won their battles over House and Veronica Mars and have taken their place in the next round. It will make for an interesting battle to see the Winchesters and Superman do battle once again!

Today sees a couple of comedy shows trying to make the third round, but How I Met Your Mother has to overcome the tough challenge of taking on new hit show Once Upon A Time whilst Friends has to take on the critically acclaimed sci-fi hit Battlestar Galactica. Both polls could go either way today, which should make things interesting!

  1. T'was a tale of two comedies for me today, with HIMYM and Friends getting the votes...

    ReplyDelete
  2. Gotta go with Friends as my only votes today, not seen any of the rest, but even if I had, nothing compares to Friends.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Once and BSG

I must be the only person who hates Friends

    ReplyDelete
  4. Noooo! Four shows that I love. Why do you have to do this to me? Didn't vote ;)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Once Upon a Time for the first poll.Last year's best new series for me.
And as much as like Friends,Battlestar Galactica is one of my all time favorites,so it gets my vote.

  6. Once again sorry for the short delay before todays posts, but you'll be pleased to hear I've already drafted out the next few days so there will, 100%, without fail, be new polls over the next few days! :)

  7. this one's prettty easy for me - HIMYM and Battlestar Galactica

    ReplyDelete
  8. how is OUAT beating HIMYM??? you can't compare 7 great seasons to 1 season!! my votes were for HIMYM and Friends!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Never liked FRIENDS.
I think it is probably the most overrated sitcom in my lifetime.along with 30 Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Voted for the both more fantastical series, namely Once Upon a Time and Battlestar Galactica.

    ReplyDelete
  11. IT may not have a chance against Friends - but SO SAY WE ALL - BSG all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think it's overrated - the only sitcom I remember really loving growing up was Home Improvement and Saved By The Bell.

    ReplyDelete
  13. OUaT and Friends.

    ReplyDelete
  14. HIMYM vs. OUAT was cruel, and I'm still not sure I made the right decision. I went with Friends, though.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Have to go with OUAT and Battlestar Galactica - yet again both choices are obviously superior to the competition.

    OUAT is already classic.

BSG is pretty much unrivaled classic of science fiction and one of the most magnificent, beautiful and touching shows of last decade or two.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Not the only one. Friends is overrated. Don't get me wrong, its a brilliant sitcom, but so many shows, including BSG just blow it out of the water.

    ReplyDelete
  17. How is OUAT beating HIMYM?

    Latest OUAT Season: Flawless.
    Latest HIMYM season: not flawless.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Had to go with Once & Battlestar!

    ReplyDelete
  19. yeah, I get that, but... let's see OUAT in season 7 if it gets 7 seasons! :/

    ReplyDelete
  20. Only Battlestar Galactica.
Such a great sci-fi show and the title music was just so haunting and beautiful. The only little flaw for me was the ending which I wasn't fussy on.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Same. I don't get how BSG is losing against it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. How I Met Your Mother. I gave OUaT more chances than any other new show last season with possibly the exception of Ringer but my interest in Regina and Mr. Gold couldn't surpass my utter annoyance with Henry and Emma. I don't watch HIMYM on a regular basis but I always laugh when I do. Since I have never seen BSG and I'm fair weather about Friends, I'm not voting in this one.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oncers are pretty loud, aren't we? Though I like both shows, OUAT makes me more happy than HIMYM, there's less of a feeling I want to punch characters in the face. I still get it in both shows at times, but HIMYM there's a moment of face punch need in nearly every episode.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hell, I even LOVED the ending because of how everything fit (like the "dying leader not reaching a promised land" bit)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Friends all the way. best comedy show ever...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Easy ones for me today,OUAT and BSG.

    ReplyDelete
  27. HIMYM and Friends.

Come on guys, vote for HIMYM so it wins.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Finally, a competition where I have an opinion on both polls. Voted OUAT in the first one for originality. HIMYM always struck me as a remake of Friends. Hesitated on the second because there was a time when I loved Friends, but went with BSG because it was such an awesome show and worthy of winning the competition. That, of course, means that it won't.

    ReplyDelete
  29. You now seem to be arguing against yourself with this argument, because I totally agree that one season of mediocrity can ruin the entire show. HIMYM dipped down in quality for last few seasons A LOT.

By this point OUAT remains flawless and pretty much amongst the best shows on tv right now, together with Revenge and teen Wolf.

Can it change? Can writers mess up horribly at some point? Well obviously, a lot of shows do. A few horrible decisions here, a few badly written characters there and the show goes down. That's what happened to Vampire Diaries, That's what happened to Supernatural and Heroes and a lot of other shows. such a danger is a reality of every tv show.

So far OUAT has not given us any chances to worry about its future quality because the show has been very consistent in its awesomeness.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm abstaining from the HIMYM / OUAT vote. I'm so dejected by the collective decision by the studio and the network to milk every last drop out of HIMYM that I can't make an objective choice. I'm extremely tempted to vote for OUAT.

I voted for Friends over BSG. It's a vote out of respect rather than from being a fan. I prefer BSG but it's rare that a show like Friends comes along that has such longevity, commercial success, and high creative standards.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, the dying leader part was okay but I don't think they should have gotten rid of the technology. It could have given the new civilization a better chance especially in a medical field, nor did I get them all splitting up as there were so few of them left; safety in numbers and all that.
Then some things were left hazy as with Kara.
Anyway I don't want to say more as there are probably people who still haven't seen it, and I've spoiled them enough.
In any case, it was a terrific series and the music was beautiful. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Battlestar Galactica. One of my favorite series, and the most deserving of praise today. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Once Upon a Time and Battlestar Galactica. Because neither How I Met Your Mother and FRIENDS are my things, and OUAT and BSG are faves of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think it depends on your taste as well - a good show that had hour long episodes (much more content to fill - and keep quality) versus a great sitcom - I take the good show.

I don't generally find it easy to vote a sitcom better than a show like BSG.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Tough choice between BSG and Friends, but ultimately... it's Friends. And OUAT of course.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm here on the same boat as you. Always hated Friends, that humour does nothing for me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I chose BSG over Friends. I love BSG, but I also hate Friends so I think I'd literally choose ANYTHING over Friends. (Maybe not CSI:Miami though.) The first poll is... weird. I watch OUaT and don't exactly watch HIMYM, but I chose HIMYM. That's mostly because I want to punch every damn character on OUaT and HIMYM makes me laugh (when I actually get around to watching it).

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't think this last season was mediocre, weaker than the others but not mediocre... but hey, that's me. Everyone can have an opinion and mine is that, and I don't see how am I arguing against myself... :/

    ReplyDelete
  39. Easy one today. HIMYM and Friends, no doubt for me.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Are you freaking kidding me!!!!???? Once Upon a Time is NOTHING compared to HIMYM amazingness! Are you guys crazy?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Season 7 of HIMYM was the best in my opinion, and therefore it had the highest rating among all the other seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Surprised that HIMYM is losing to OUAT

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not that surprised. OUAT is one of the most popular shows here on SpoilerTV :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh no Sharon, your not the only one.!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would hardly say that OUAT is flawless... I mean the entire premise of the show is built around an enmity that shouldn't even exist...

    ReplyDelete
  46. I really enjoyed season 7, but I think season 6 is the best in recent memory... I don't recall much of seasons 1-4 anymore... I have to watch it again to make up my mind, but I really liked season 6... I know that most people would say season 6 was probably the worst, but I don't get it... I thought it was awesome...
But there were some episodes in season 7 that were great... I like HIMYM for it's inventive narrative structures and 'The Burning Beekeeper' is probably one of the best, if not the best, episodes of the show... Hope they can keep it up...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow. 8th place...Now I get it the poll standings... I like that Castle is the most popular... It's an awesome show!

    ReplyDelete
  48. BSG *---------* always, sorry Friends. HIMYM is others easy choice.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm not hate Friends, but I love BSG more.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I liked season 6 too, the mystery wedding was a great addition to keep the audience hooked. My favorite episode from season 7 has to "Symphony of Illumination".

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm probably not able to choose my fave season,at least not now, I should rewatch them, but I think it would be one of the firsts... but I really don't know right now! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Friends...The best one!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Friends, even after close to ten years, is still one of my favorite shows of all time (right up there with Smallville, which I'm psyched won this last round). So definitely a vote there. And even though I was (am) less than pleased with some of the occurrences in HIMYM, that's a completely personal preference and I still love the show. So yeah, Friends and HIMYM all the way. However, if both make it through, it's gonna be Friends all the way

    ReplyDelete
  54. OUAT over HIMYM - I think OUAT had a better season than HIMYM...for me at least.

Never a Friends fan (It's one of that group of NBC sitcoms that leaves me desperately trying to figure out what the critics find so funny...and whether they're getting paid until the table or not) So easily Battlestar Galactica.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Friends was must watch TV (haha) when I was in High School and College. It and Home Improvement on ABC are the only sitcoms I've ever really loved and watched for their entirety, even when they were less than stellar. So, Friends all the way for me.

I've never watched any of the other shows (well, I've seen HIMYM a few times. It's mediocre humor IMO), but BSG is on my Netflix Instant queue I just haven't had the time to watch yet (and I'm trying to distance myself from things I've heard over the years so what I might have known at one time as a spoiler I no longer remember, if that makes sense).

    ReplyDelete
  56. It is amazing how much a bad series finale can color an entire show. I loved BSG, but it is hard to fight for it without tons of caveats. Most important episode of a series.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Same - aside from Starbuck's poor ending, I was fine with the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Easy choice today. Once upon a time and friends. I loved how I met your mother but it's not the same today as I used to be.
    And I've never watched BSG

    ReplyDelete
  59. How do they match up GoT and BB before quarters or semis? How can one say OUAT is flawless when you can watch a pilot and finale and not miss anything in between? Heck, the worst episode of HIMYM is better than most of OUAT....Mentalist of course is through for reasons unknown...Stupid polling

    ReplyDelete
  60. "not miss everything in between"? I am sorry, you must have been talking about shows like vampire diaries.

If there's something OUAT does FLAWLESSLY, its build-up and pay-off. There has yet to be an episode that did not develop characters or did not matter in the grand scheme of things.

As for mentalist? Its through because it also happens to be a damn good show. :) Certainly better than a teenage remake of la femme nikita :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Excuse me... OUAT is boring and cheesy. You can watch the pilot and the finale and still not miss anything. Plus, the remake of Nikita is way better than anything you could ever watch.

    ReplyDelete
  62. ONCE UPON A TIME .... I CAN NOT WAIT TILL IT'S BACK ON AIR
