  1. The Chick who plays allison doesnt have the acting chops to pull off this warrior bad ass sh*t. Its laughable

  2. Holy shit that ending. And LOL at Finstock quoting Independence Day.

Ugh at Allison. She's turning into Gerard and Kate. Good for Chris!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Funny thing about "acting chops". Few people are naturally good at certain roles with any prior training or experience. As far as I know, she's never had a role like this before. She's not going to get those "acting chops" until she has more experience with the role.

People keep giving her crap about her attempts to act like a badass, completely ignoring the fact that it's an acquired skill and not a natural one.

  4. Yeap, that's what's happening, but did Gerard took Stiles?

And the creator of the serie said that one of the principal dies on this season, who would it be?

  5. I hate Alison. I hope she feels like shit, and I hope Scott gives her a good moral, verbal beating.

    ReplyDelete
  6. A big LMAO at Xena-Allison, she just can't pull that off. I hope Jackson is the one who dies, never liked him.

  7. i hope its not Derek, Stiles, or Scott.

  8. OMG, I had my heart in my throat from the time Erica and Boyd held hads after figuring out where the werewolf howls were coming from, until Erica begged Allison to stop...

    ReplyDelete
  9. I completely agree with you, Allison is turning into the bad guy. Scott shouldn't take Gerard's offer, he wouldn't want This Allison....
I can't really believe her as being "badass" though I can hate her for who she's become.... All of Derek's family burned and he didn't turn into sadistic villain who is yet to become a murder....

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh, yeah, I would hate it is Derek or Stiles died... But if I have to chose between the two, I'd rather Derek live... They can't kill Scott, he's the main protagonist... they can't kill the main protagonist... I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Actually, I wouldn't mind if Allison was the one who died... Even Chris has standards.... morals... Isacc is a good person, and I don't want Erica or Boyd to die either...

  12. Tonight episode was like Awesome! Alison was pissing me off really bad and i don't want Stiles my babe to die he and derek and isaac are my favorite characters .i wonder what happend to stiles :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. So true! Not buying or liking this psycho bitch Allison. If she dies along with Gerard, I'll be a happy camper.
I kinda don't want Jackson to die though, but that's probably because I don't like to see fictional orphans suffer (I blame Harry Potter) and also I think it'd be interesting to see him trying to redeem himself.
I really hope they make Daniel Sharman a regular for next season. The way they've been treating the character lately is as if they're opening up the possibility.

  14. The start scene with Stiles just being depressed and feeling hopeless was fascinating and hurt like hell to watch. Here you have one normal person of the whole cast and he is feeling just so...defeated and wrecked by everything.

Scott's loss of hope and complete helplessness against Gerard was painful too. The poor boy just tries to do whatever he can to protect people he cares about, without crossing the line, yet every enemy does not care about no lines. Scott might be clueless, but at the same time he is both wise and brave and is a moral compass of the show right now. The show is clearly building up him as Alpha somewhere latter down in the show, with the Isaac valuing his advice and the similar scenes between the pack and him over last few episodes.

Don't are about sexist hate for Allison that the fandom has for her, but this episode made me Allison fan for life.

I am infinitely fascinated by her psychological profile and by the sheer complexity and multi-layered nature of her character. Her journey into the dark is fascinating, relatable and thrilling and C.Reed pulls off Badass Allison in such a fantastic way.

If there's one person to hate in all of this its not Allison. Its Gerard. Allison is someone who is grieving and is seeking approval and comfort from her family, namely Gerard and Gerard is using it to a full extent to ruin her and corrupt her.

I frankly hope that Allison gets to kill Gerard, that would be a fitting end to him.

Not feeling any sympathy for Derek though. The downfall has been long-time since coming. Everyone he used, distrusted or hurt is starting to leave him in times of crisis and yet he is unable to learn so far and if he listens to Peter, then he deserves whatever fallout of his own ego that he will get.

Overall another great episode worthy of being called a "season finale material" - and its not even a season finale yet. this show just fascinates me so much.

  15. not to mention that her "trying to be badass" fits character of Allison.

Allison is a teenager. Unprepared, young. She has been thrown into this crazy supernatural world just about a year ago, so moments of badassness with a mix of sense of fragile teenagery uncertainty fits her character.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ..ALLISON situation is really bad became a senseless killer not good we hope the writer dont charge this storyline for so long

    ReplyDelete
  17. I gotta disagree. She's an actress, this is her job, and she's not doing it well, ie, she's not believable in the actions she is performing. If she couldn't prepare herself for the role then they needed to cast someone who could. I'm not interested in watching "learning experiences."

    ReplyDelete
  18. The wolves, Matt, others were supposed to be scared of her. It was laughable when she had the two wolves on the ground and they just pleaded instead of ripping her head off. Coming across as fragile and unbelievable in those scenes undermined the dramatic storyline. Teen Wolf has its campy moments, but the fights are the fights. And they are usually well done. In this episode the guidance counselor with her unknown ulterior motives was much more threatening than Allison with a cross bow (which I highly doubt she is strong enough to even cock) and the writers at her back.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good episode. It felt more transitional than standalone, but it kept me really excited for next week. Stiles was great (as always, but where is he and is he okay!?!?). It's sad how defeated the boys felt and how happy Isaac was that he could do something nice with his powers, and then he came back to help Scott. And Scott's poor mom just wanting it to end. I kept waiting for Scott to tell her what Gerard wanted were innocent teenagers so he could kill them, but she came around in the end anyway.

The secondary characters ruled the show. Stiles' dad's reaction to Stiles' starting the game, coach and his Independence Day speech. Peter who was psycho and helpful. Danny pulling Jackson out of it in the locker room.

Poor Derek, he is so lost and alone. He knows he has to fight but nothing else, and his pack leaving him. :-( It's funny because they all want connections and they just can't join together.

As far as the Allison thing goes, humphf. I get reason for the plot, and it's intriguing, but it's not coming through for me. It would help if she could shoot a bow (or at least pretend to aim it), or there hadn't been continuity problems with the number of arrows in her quiver. if the werewolf could catch arrows, why did he just stand there ten feet away like a pincushion? Eh. I hope we move past it.

  20. Then watching a TV show full of actors who have little experience in their new roles is clearly not for you. Acting is ALWAYS a learning experience for EVERYONE. Especially for shows like this.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am having trouble understanding your argument. We are watching the 2nd season of a professional television show, right? It's not a high school play. Should the actors not be judged on a professional level? Actors pick up new and different characters and inhabit them in a believable manner. That's the job. IMO the only one who is struggling is Crystal Reed and she's only distractingly struggling at pretending to be a power player in the Teen Wolf universe. She's not a child to whom to say "hey she's trying." She's 27 years old and this is her profession--not an internship. As a viewer, I expect more, the rest of the cast is certainly delivering.

  22. It was a good episode. Honestly, I don't get why everyone is hating on Allison/CR. Allison is hurt and is being emotionally abused by her own family, who she counts on for support. Sure she came into the first season sweet and caring, so why is it so hard to believe she has a naughty side….don't we all. Also the feeling of not wanting to be weak runs in the family, she doesn't have to be a good fighter or a good shot, she wants to show she can get back up without anyones help…she's not gonna get kick ass ninja skills in a day. Despite how crazy Kate was, she was killed in front of Allison, she still loved the aunt she thought she knew. Then, her mother committed suicide in her own bedroom on her bed…you're not human if you don't react to that without a little insanity. I'm sure if Stiles or Scott went into a blood rage, there wouldn't be as much hate from the audience. I get that some people think Crystal cant play bad ass, but thats not necessarily what she's playing, she's playing a emotionally abused teenager who has lost family members both from werewolves, and is looking for revenge or retribution, whether they deserved it or not doesn't really matter to her.

On a different note, Stiles was awesome this episode. I was cracking up when he started playing then started scoring the goals, with Lydia watching. I love Scott's mom and Stiles's dad, their great characters. Also, I love Coach. I keep thinking of ways that Gerard's life is gonna end, whether its this season or next…preferably this season. He's just playing dirty, why doesn't he care that he is actually ruining teenagers lives. If anyone that needs to go its Gerard.

  23. amazing episode!! I'm going to be soo sad when this season ends! the opening scene with stiles was just amazing the acting was incredible and it was just heartbreaking and in the end when his dad was looking for him was so sad! also i thought when he was talking to scott before the start of the lax game it seemed like he was going to ask to be turned! allison was so mean this episode!! it was so sad what she was doing to erica and boyd! and i hope erica boyd and isaac stay on the show because they have defiantly became more interesting characters especially isaac! the lacrosse coach was hilarious this episode!! and last thing I really hope they don't go back to the jackson and lydia thing! it seems like they might but i hope not!

  24. The difference is that acting is an art, not science. You don't just get things right away. And don't compare her to the other characters, none of them at any point in this season has had to take on the role she has right now.

You want a good example? Pretty much every female character, and a few of the male characters, in the Buffyverse. It took a lot of time for Sarah to actually get into the role of a badass vampire killer. She didn't ace the role right away, there was a learning period.

How about Willow? You'd NEVER guess that anyone that sweet and adorable would flay a man alive with magic. The actress had to work up to playing the role of a badass witch.

How about Cordelia? A rather bitchy high school cheerleader who started out on Buffy, then gradually became more and more badass in Angel. A LEARNING PERIOD. Joss Whedon is very good at building up his characters so it took time. But it was more for the actress to ease into the role than anything else.

But Crystal didn't have that learning period. It literally happened in the span of a single episode. Speak to any actor who has played an extended role as a character and they will tell you they had to learn how to be their characters. It doesn't matter how good of an actor you are, you don't know shit about your character until you be that character.

It's the same for Crystal. She's only had a couple of episodes to learn her new role. I've seen more experienced actors take entire seasons to get into a personality shift for their character.

That's my reasoning, and I feel like it's a good one. You have this unreasonable expectation that people need to be good at whatever role they're given without any prior experience. That hardly ever happens.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I didn't get the sherif's reaction to Stiles playing.... Didn't Stiles play in season one? His dad kept telling him he was going to go watch him play, but then in season two he seemed surprised his son was even playing the game.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think you are confusing character development with professional development. Yes, character development does take time. It took Willow time to change into BAMF witch, but it shouldn't take Alyson Hannigan time to show that effectively. If she had struggled, it would have hurt the show. It would have been like when Willow pretended to be her vampire self in the one episode. Instead Alyson Hannigan convincingly put on and took off both Willow's (vampire Willow out for blood and human Willow in the normal universe).

In this case the show is telling us (and has been for several episodes and even a bit last season) that Allison is a force to be reckoned with--her arrows thunk into very precise shots; she knocks men to the ground just by grabbing their hand; she twirls knives; she slow stalks out of the fog; werewolves cower in fear before her. If the arrow is hitting the target, the actor needs to make the shot look believable. If that means the actress needed to spend the off season taking lessons then so be it. She can't slowly get better at archery if she's already supposed to be good at it, it ruins the verisimilitude of the show. No, I don't think her job is easy. But Scott and Jackson and Derek and the three baby wolves have to do stunt work and come across as strong. Lydia has to be convincingly crazy and haunted. Colton Haynes can't spend a season trying to figure out how to look like he knows how to play lacrosse, because from the start Jackson is supposed to be the best player on the team. This is why actors prepare for roles--they take lessons and lift weights. Crystal Reed looks frail and acts frail, but the show is telling me Allison isn't.

The show keeps telling me she is supposed to be strong and fierce and I'm supposed to be scared for the pack because she is out for blood. Instead of that dramatic tension coming across, it is funny and starting to get frustrating. IMO that is a negative for the show. Does her performance have to be perfect? No, she's never gonna be an action star. But she has to give us enough that with sound and cinematography we can suspend disbelief on the rest.

  27. The sounds like more of a problem with how quickly the writers threw her into a role she's not ready for than with the actress herself. You're putting ALL of this blame on her. You criticize her inability to act like a badass despite the fact that she's never had to before, and you give her crap for not LOOKING like a badass despite the fact that's a problem with the writing and directing not the actress.

For another example, lets think of Summer Glau. She's in perfect shape but lets face it, that girl looks like a strong wind could blow her away. And yet in just about every role she plays, she's kicking somebodies ass.

Not only her experience or talent as an actress contributes to that, but also the writing and directing.

Teen Wolf is a good show, but damn does it like to skip over stuff. You can also blame that on the short seasons. Allison's transformation should have taken three or four episodes, instead it happened in just one. They haven't allowed time for a believable character development to allow Allison to seem like a badass. That's not her fault.

Now don't get me wrong, if her badass attitude continues past the season finale, and I don't think it will, and she still doesn't improve then that's totally on her. But right now, your expectations on where Crystal should be as an actress after just two episodes is incredibly unreasonable. This stuff takes time, and you aren't giving her any. People started complaining from the first episode when she changed. That's crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, I am blaming the actress for not doing a good job acting her part. The writer's built up the story, the story is believable. It's her job to bring it to life.

This isn't a live improv show--it's taped and CGI'd. She doesn't have to hit the shot, she just has to look like she possibly could. That's on her.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The coach (the speech from Independence Day..and on an unnecessary speaker system to boot? hilarious) and Stiles (my son is on the field!) were awesome tonight.

I knew the 'new pack in the area' thing was a scam. But the beat makes me think that the writer ignore the wolf/werewolf analogies (unless it's convenient.) In this instance...the concept of territory. In that respect Derek's reaction to the idea of another pack near by was just odd. But I 'm willing to ignore that cause the rest of the ep was so good.

I think Daddy Argent just realized he lost control. He really should have figured that out when his Dad arrived in town. I was hoping, at the beginning of the season, that he was seeing trouble ahead (he seemed to) and was coming up with competencies. All that rambling is to see I chuckled at the expression on his face when Allison opened her mouth to be...someone else's kid entirely. I wonder how long it is going to take him to really get the fact that the biggest villains in this piece are his relatives. He needs to grow a pair and really take charge of his little band of...what are they? :-)

I say again...the playing with the pill box was a little heavy handed.

When Scott saw the Kanima holding his mother by the throat I decided that scene was a dream...until Gerard started issuing threats. Yeesh. This guy is definitely NOT surviving the season.

Loved the scene in the clinic with Issac. Did NOT expect the victim at the game to be Jackson. Not a fan of Lydia being the one to save Jackson.

I love the whole element of Jackson's identity begin at the heart of his Kanima issues, but Lydia being the focal point of the fix seems weird. Maybe because I don't think other people give you your identity. This is one of those spots where I think the extra eps may not be a bad thing. Scott and Stiles have figured out that identity issues are a thing for Jackson and, maybe if they had 24 eps this season they would have had the room to let Jackson figure out who he is. This would, in turn give Colton Haynes more to do. This season he's been playing mostly one note and his character's pretty much only been a puppet. It would have been nice to flesh that identity issue out giving Jackson his own story line working under all of the kanima stuff going on. That would have made the solution Peter proposed stronger for me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Agree with you completely about Allison. But I think they're going to redeem her by the end of the season (or at least make her come to her senses) She's at the center of the "love story" that I'm betting the show runners don't want to let go. That relationship is, I think, at the core of the series definition. IMHO because she's both suffering from grief and being manipulated I'm guessing we'll have some type of reset. (and I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with Gerard threatening Scott and/or Stiles)

    ReplyDelete
  31. They won't kill off Siles...at least not permanently. That character and actor are a MAJOR draw to the show.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I completely agree with you about the opening scenes of the ep. They were awesome. I loved that when Issac asked Scott for advice Scott admitted that he almost never has a clue what he's doing. Derek was right...Scott is already an alpha.

What you mention about Derek's character is one of the things I really like about this show. All the faults the fans have been discussing about the character have come home to roost. They weren't just there to make a superficial 'is he a good guy or bad guy' character. He's facing some consequences for all of those faults. The question is will he learn and grow or just return to the guy he's always been. I hope they go for change and grow cause I think ti would be really interesting to see him get smarter, more clever and maintain the edge the character has always had.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hmm, it wasn't a problem for me. If she'd been facing Derek in that scene I would completely agree. But she was facing a couple of scared teen wolves, who'd just discovered they'd fallen for a fairly basic trick and think just fired arrow after arrow into them without break.

I won't argue that the actresses inexperience was visible as Badass Allison, but for this scene that shakiness was well within what was going on with the character (I think a piece of Allison knows she's not on the right path; that's why she's not talking to Scott.) I think that's why it all worked together enough NOT to kick me out of the story and made the sequence work for me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think Stiles was second string. He was finally moved to first string (I think at the tail end of season 1) but didn't play in that first game because he wound up at the hospital with Derek when they found out about Peter.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You can't dance well without training and prior experience. You can't paint well without training and prior experience. You can't operate heavy machinery well (or safely) without training and prior experience. You can't sing, play sports, practice medicine, join any branch of law enforcement, be a teacher, fly a plane, work for a company, shoot a gun, perform, be a model, or anything of a million other things in this world very well without training and prior experience. And training can come from anywhere, just someone teaching you.

But somehow, this actress is exempted from all of that, an actress that has no experience in the role this show has suddenly thrust upon her, and isn't allowed the needed amount of personal experience to become better at her role because you don't have the patience to watch her grow as an actress?

I've seen a lot of bad actors become a lot better with time. It's not only her job to act the role, it's her job to learn the role. Which no actor is ever going to do within the span of two episodes. It's just not going to happen.

That's why I'm choosing to be patient and not complain. If she continues on like this for too long, then yeah that's not good, but it has been TWO EPISODES. People need to calm the hell down.

  36. OMG did u guys see the new extended promo there was a part where it looked like Derek was getting hurt by the kanima im so worried for him

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh. Hmm, that still doesn't explain why his Dad seem to be so surprised.... Or maybe it does...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Really? Nooo, I don't want Derek to die! Where did you see this, on TV, or on this site?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I just liked that he immediately went to Stiles is doing something he shouldn't and is screwing something up, but then realized that in fact Stiles was starting and he was supposed to be doing it and it was a good thing. And then dad stiles was so proud. I thought it was cute.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It hasn't actually been two episodes. They had her get all Rambo'd up at the end of season 1. She's had a couple of "training" scenes in prior episodes. The last straw for me was at Lydia's party in fact (which was three episodes ago). I get that you are still willing to cut her some slack. That's fine. I'm not. She's had her time, it's the second season, they would have told her to prep for the part and she's had weeks of filming to get it right or at least closer. I've hit the point where she's breaking character for me, and it is the low point of a great show. I'm not going to change my mind and decide that I'm being too hard on a professional actress. She should have already been trained in how to act before she auditioned for and got roles at her age.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah, for a while now the Allison is a strong fighter scenes have jolted me out of the story. I can see what you are saying about the "shakiness." I'm not sure it was intended to be that way, but I can see how it would mitigate some of the problems. If Boyd hadn't come all BA and caught the first arrow, then I would have been more accepting, and as I said above the CGI and continuity problems hurt as well. It all felt like the show was forcing the point on me instead of it being, "Wow Allison you rock girl, get your vengeance on, but please don't kill Boyd or Barbie wolf."

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hey, that was pretty cute. I liked when he stood up and cheered, even though the game hadn't started, that "His son was on the field!" or something like that.
