Once Upon A Time has found its Captain Hook. Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue (The Rite) will play the recurring character on the upcoming, magic-themed second season of ABC’s fairytale drama.
He's attractive, but he's also young. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I will wait and see how they're writing his character, but I would have liked Captain Hook to be a little older and charismatic, played by another Robert Carlyle type of actor.
Meh. I'm not sure I like going young for this character. They should have asked Ian McShane. He'd probably say "no" but it would have been worth a try.
Fair enough. Going young for this character does bug me though. It seems like they're trying to be different just for the sake of being different. It doesn't sit right with me.
Well, I never really pictured Captain Hook as eye candy... That'll certainly be weird. What is wrong with casting some not so pretty, creepier fellows? "Rumple" is a proof that unconventional looks can be a hell of an asset.
A far cry from the Disney's version... should be interesting. Since the writers are putting their own twist on the classic tales I wonder whether his rivalry with Peter Pan will have something to do with either Wendy or Tinkerbell...Cannot wait!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
A VERY attractive Captain Hook indeed!

ReplyDeleteNot sure I agree with you about Ian McShane but I do agree about going young for this particular character.
