Merlin - Series 5 - Colin Morgan Teases Magic Reveal

Aug 16, 2012

“We left Merlin at the end of the last season tipping over into a darker side, and I think that’s a reference for me for the rest of this season,” Morgan continues. “I think he is so confident in himself now, and in who he is and what he is destined to do. He has a resilience and power that drives him for this season. He gives as good as he gets.”

This, apparently, is going to lead us to some of the “most important scenes there has ever been in terms of Merlin’s magic.” Could this mean that the secret is finally coming out? Morgan teased: “Arthur is forced to confront magic a lot in this series, and that could change everything, for Merlin and for everyone.”

  1. It *has* to be this year surely, I think it's gonna piss a lot of fans off if they leave it another year. Part of me is hoping that they don't have Merlin poised to spill the beans, and then Mordred is revealed and almost kills Arthur (as per legend) so magic is banned all over again :\ We need to see it this year!!

  2. If they leave it to the season 5 finale or later I'm going to be super pissed. I hope they do what they did with Uther dying, and have it relatively early in the season so we see the fall out.

  3. This is great news. This will change the whole dynamic of the show and it will bring a great amount of adventure, characters and a lot of new stuff that will make this series even more great!

  4. I think that a whole lot of fans (me included) would be severly, seriously annoyed (that's putting it mildly) if there was no reveal this year. I am not really sure if this interview hints at it - but I would love to believe it. I think a reveal opens a huge scope for more decent character development for both Arthur and Merlin as well as a platform for a huge range of new adventures and stories. IMO hanging on to the current situation means stagnation. Changin the dynamics with a reveal opens a lot of new opportunities.

  5. As much as I agree with you I have a funny feeling they have not had a reveal by episode 6 (That is going by all the interview they did at ComicCon) - purely my ipinion, by the way) As they don't seem to know what happens after season 5 they are probably keeping the reveal for as long as they can. Seriously hope that I am wrong -- I cannot stand the waiting any longer!

  6. You're probably right, but I'm still hoping for a reveal before episodes 8-13, really want to see Arthur, Gwen etc realising Merlin is not just some cross dressing clutz (I recently rewatched Freya :P), but the most powerful warlock who ever lived.
