Thanks to laura3341 for the heads up.

NBC has put in development Hench, a high-concept drama from Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey’s Film 44 and Universal TV. Written by Alexandra Cunningham, Hench centers on a regular guy who, in order to support his family, gets jobs temping for super villains.

  1. NBC might actually be on the right trace,it will take awhile for them to build back up but it can be done. This sounds interesting!

  3. Hilarious premise! XD

I'm not sure that it will translate well to the TV screen, but I do love the premise.
I think for a superhero show to have a chance on network TV it has to be done in realistic manner. That is to say it has to be grounded in our reality and not too comic-book-like in style and not have fanciful comic-book-like villains and heroes (like the debacle that was The Cape).

  4. I also love the premise!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that they don't butcher it. As you wisely said: "The less villain make up the better".

  5. As long as they don't "cape" it, this could actually work.

  7. Interesting premise but superhero shows are very hit and miss, still always hoping its an Heroes S1 rather than a Cape.

  8. I like Peter Berg and I like temping for super villains. If it has a sense of humor about itself, it might be a really fun premise.

  9. It sounds like it could be fun, but the concept is waaay out there and could crash and burn. At least NBC is trying to be original and different.

  10. I'm sure I heard about this a few years ago, but it was gonna be a movie and directed by Peter Berg, not just from his studio. It's a very cool concept, and looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

  11. There was an interview somewhere I think with Jon Favreau about Revolution that there is more room/money for telling middle of the road (not small indie, not big blockbuster) stories on TV than film. So maybe this is a switch over project based on studio budgets? I wonder if it will be sustainable if that is the case?

  12. The premise made me recall the old Fox show (as well as the cartoon) "The Tick" where the side kick was a disgruntled accountant... lol I'm guessing this will be humorous in nature
