Ever since reading the snippet about Karev at TV Guide, I'm looking at these castings wondering which one will end up with Alex as his "true love" as Shonda Rhimes has indicated. I'll believe it when I see it.

At this point, I think they should just let him keep on his growing path but without a serious love interest until the end, so that they have Izzie coming back at the last couple of episodes to get them back together. He's my favorite character so I am all in favour of more screen time for him, but I thought the growth path they had him on, with Arizona and all, was pretty good. They could expand on that, and bring in his father etc. I would rather see that than some inorganic love interest thing
ReplyDelete"so that they have Izzie coming back at the last couple of episodes to get them back together."
ReplyDeleteWords cannot express how much I disagree with this. Alex Karev has been Grey's Anatomy's whipping boy on and off for the entire series and full-time since George was killed. Getting Alex back together with Izzie would be a punishment for him, not a reward, and Alex has had enough punishment on this show already.
It depends on how it is done. To be honest, and even though it wasn't meant to be their final scene, I kind of like the end of Alex and Izzie as it is, because if they had to end scenes, I like that it was him realising that he became too good for her and not the other way around. As such, if they made it so that he had her as a "reward" for his growth and all that rather than a punishment I would like that to be endgame. I just hate when they introduce a character with the point of being the love interest for someone in the middle of a series. I think it is contrieved, not organic. It works much better when we have the characters inserted on the show without that being the purpose and see how things evolve.
ReplyDeleteBesides, I was (still am) a hardcore Alex/Izzie fan, it has always been my favorite romantic relationship on the show.

ReplyDeleteI agree.

Again, I agree.

I Strongly disagree. Any way in which they attempt to get Alex and Izzie back together would be not just a punishment but a slap in the face to Alex, as he has finally grown into a person who is good and decent enough to deserve someone much, much better than Izzie.
Well... agree to disagree then. I get your point. But i just liked Izzie and Alex way too much to believe that the show would be able to organically make us believe his happy ending is with someone else. Maybe having Izzie coming back for a 3-4 ep arc that would show that she was ready for Alex, rather than the other way around (I agree with you that Alex should be rewarded, not punished at the end)
ReplyDelete"Well... agree to disagree then."
ReplyDeleteAgreed. :)
i agree 100% with you. It'll be great for Izzie to come back for the final episodes of the series. But if they're casting a "true love" for Alex then that means Shonda doesn't want what we want. :(
ReplyDeletegeez another one? this show's already got too much cast in it!
ReplyDeletehaving a "crowed" cast means great deep storylines won't be written. Instead they'll write short and boring storylines.
I finally figured out why Tessa Ferrer looks so familiar... The eyes & chin came from her mother, Debby Boone. Her nose is from her father, Gabriel Ferrer, whose brother is well-known character actor Miguel Ferrer. Their parents were actor Jose Ferrer & singer, Rosemary Clooney. Which means Tessa is also related to George Clooney.
