Game of Thrones - Season 3 - Returning Cast

Thanks to Jason for the heads up.

confirmed to be returning in season 3 include:

- Josef Altin as Pyp. Pyp was left behind at Castle Black when the rangers traveled beyond the Wall in season 2.
- Luke McEwan as Rast, the Night’s Watchman who antagonized Jon Snow and Samwell in the first season.
- Ian McElhinney, as Ser Barristan Selmy, the dismissed Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.
- SweetSigma was kind enough to let us know Kate Dickie‘s agent has confirmed that the actress will be returning in September to film scenes as Lysa Arryn. If Dickie is in, then Facioli most likely is, after all! Very interesting info, considering many thought we would not see the Eyrie again until season 4.
- Clive Mantle, who plays the Greatjon, has been confirmed as not returning to the show for the third season.

  3. I will miss the Greatjon needing 8 men to pin him down at RW... sigh.

Glad Barristan the Bold will be back... or will he come back as Arstan Whitebeard? XD
It might be hard to pull off Whitebeard in a visual medium like TV.

  6. RW isn't going to be until season four. It's already been said by the producers.

  7. I would love that to be true, do you have the source where you saw or heard D&D say that?

Everything I have read and seen points to the Red Wedding being in this season around episode 3x08 or 3x09 and the general consensus on most Thrones sites is that it will be in Season 3. Many even think the Purple Wedding will make Season 3!

I am sincerely hoping this year will end just prior to the RW, I would be disappointed if they use 66-75% of Storm of swords honestly. I think that the book has enough for 2 full seasons especially when supplemented with Book II content left out of last year like some of Bran's story and some of the Riverlands story with House Tully. Then add in the Iron Islands parts from Book IV to Season 4 and it should be two full seasons to me!

  8. From what I recall Thrones did not get Clive Mantel under contract for Season 3 in time and other projects came up for him. I hope they work around it and do not recast the role. Mantel was perfect as the Greatjon!

  9. I'll have to check the LJ community for the book/television series. I'm certain that's where I saw it discussed. The producers were asked about it and they'd responded with something like, "We're not doing RW because we want to keep **** and **** around for as long as possible, we love working with them." With ten episodes in season three, it's a really short trip to the RW by the finale.

They've also stated in this interview (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/11/game-of-thrones-third-season_n_1416386.html), it doesn't matter where something falls in the books. This isn't straight adaptation - things from other books showed up in seasons different than the books being covered and some things were dropped, pushed to later seasons. So even if RW falls at a certain point - the middle of SOS - it doesn't mean it'll be the S3 finale. According to their reasoning in the huffingtonpost.com interview, at least.

  10. I've read the stuff about events not falling where they do in upcoming books necessarily. I have not read anything about the placement of the RW in particular... at least not that I recall.

Thanks for the link and I await more info on the RW from D&D!!

  12. Wow!! This is beautiful! and even the cover with its intricate and delicate artwork on the cover, how did they do that? It doesn't look like it was burned in,its so light. The puzzle itself is also amazing, gee this is something to behold!
