Backstrom - CBS gives Pilot Order to Hart Hanson's new show

Bones creator/showrunner Hart Hanson is staying on the crime beat with another hourlong project based on the work of a real-life crime expert. CBS has bought Backstrom, a drama based on the Backstrom books by renowned Swedish criminologist and novelist Leif G.W. Persson, with a pilot production commitment — the biggest commitment for a pitch so far this season.

Person’s book series centers on Evert Backstrom. Sometimes described as a detective version of Dr. Gregory House, he is an overweight, offensive, irascible detective as he tries and fails to change his self-destructive behavior. Hanson will write the script and executive produce the project with Persson and his Scandinavian literary agent Niclas Salomonsson.

    I'm happy H.Hanson is getting another shot at another crime show. I don't believe he was given a fair amount of time,or exposure with The Finder, due to the backlash from Bones staring so late in the season, then going into hiatus so soon after their return due to the birth of Emily's son.

    It will also be interesting seeing this on another network,can't wait to see what night they put it on and time slot,i for one am looking forward to it!

    I'm sorry, but as much as I really like CBS and still like Bones I will never watch another show, or anything else, with HH's name attached to it.

    Well, its a put-pilot commitment, which means the odds are that it will be going to series, unless something terrible happens during the casting or production process.
