Arrested Development - Season 4 - Filming has commenced today
Aug 7, 2012
Arrested DevelopmentOn the seventh day, God rested and watched Arrested Development to relax, and came to ask this question at the end of His viewing : "Jesus Christ, who in God's name dared to cancel Arrested Development?". Jesus didn't know the answer. Meanwhile, Satan was developing 'Til Death for the next season.
But now, the show has resucitated, Arrested Development is officially reborn as shooting of episode 4.01 has started on this very day ! Jason Bateman is on set right now.
'Michael Bluth' is shooting his first scenes and he took a photo (touch it with your mouse if you want it to get bigger) :
If I'm not wrong (I'm never wrong), the guy with the moustache and the guy with the black shirt are Anders Holm and Adam DeVine, two of the three stars of Workaholics, the Comedy Central series which ended its third season last Tuesday. If I have to guess (I always guess), I'll say they play ticket officers at an airport (which would coincide with characters getting back together, since season 4 picks up a few years after season 3 and explains in part what happened in that timeframe).
First picture, first glimpse at TV stars (on a Comedy Central series, admittedly, but still) accepting what appears to be very small roles… Being on the long-rumored revival of a show as cult as Arrested Development will definitely attract people (next thing you know, Carl Weathers will beg to have a cameo (in exchange for a plate of stew, obviously)).
With these 10 new gifts coming up in early 2013, we won't have to blissfully smile and laugh at various lines and extracts on Youtube or have to rewatch for the hundredth time the whole series on DVD in order to have our Arrested Development fix.

ReplyDeleteExciting stuff!
ReplyDeleteI am curious to see how this each episode being about one character turns out. Will each episode center on one Bluth (or Bluth Funke) with other family members playing minor parts or will each episode be entirely about one original character only?
The thing that made Arrested Development what it was is/was the cast chemistry. I'm a little worried a new format with one original cast member in each episode will not play as well, but I trust the writers (and the narrator too).
At first that was the idea (having each episode focusing on each character) but I think it was told that each character wouldn't be confined to his episode. If Will Arnett will be in multiple episodes (he confirmed that a few days ago), it's a safe assumption to think that other characters will be in numerous episodes (if the premise of this new season is bringing the whole family back together after they had gone their own way for a few years, Michael seems to be the pivotal element and thus the most likely to appear in many episodes).
ReplyDeleteWhat I think we will have is mostly obvious pairings (George Michael & Meaby, Lucille & Buster, Gob & Michael, etc) and one or two family scenes once in a while. Maybe it's not just about logistics (not being able to get the whole cast at the same time) but more about money (not being able to pay each of them on all 10 episodes, Netflix isn't a big network like FOX).
(does Gob's chicken dance in excitement....)
ReplyDeleteLucille 2 please!
ReplyDeleteLife is good, real good right now.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably the best news all year!
ReplyDeleteI think they decided against one character episodes. I think they're still themed about each character, but with whatever cast members needed included.
