The 2012 STV Favourite TV Series Competition - Day 20 - Homeland vs. NCIS & Prison Break vs. Arrested Development

Jul 25, 2012

Hey folks,

On the previous day we saw The Mentalist and Gilmore Girls score victories over Nikita and The OC and move into a third round battle against one another. The Mentalist has now defeated Chuck and Nikita, and continues to impress and surprise with its strong performances. It now stands a real chance of making the final eight.

Today we have the Golden Globe winning Homeland taking on the ratings behemoth of NCIS in a battle that will be tough for both parties. We also have Prison Break and Arrested Development calling for their very different fan bases to get them the support they need to face a stern test against one of the current shows also competing today.

If you want to see the draw for the rest of the competition, and see which show will take on which other show then head HERE for a look.

  1. The first one was easy, Homeland by a mile. A much higher quality of show.

The second was tougher but Arrested Development was consistently top quality, whilst Prison Break was half brilliant and half poor. So Arrested Development gets the vote!

  2. In the first poll I voted Homeland. I never seen Prison break or arrested development.

  3. Easy first one, NCIS without even thinking about it. I do think that Homeland will knockout BOTH NCIS shows, when Homeland looks absolutely awful, and even if it wasn't, BOTH NCIS's are still better.
Never seen either of the second two, but I hear Prison Break is pretty good, so I'll go for that.

Still can't believe that Homeland is so popular, don't like the look of it.

  4. Easy one, NCIS!
But since Breaking Bad can't win the competition it's like something is missing...

  6. Prison Break v Arrested Develeopment
I thought everyone was gonna vote for Arrested Development... I liked both shows and thought someone should vote for PB, and voted for it only to see... PB has 80% of the votes! :O

  7. NCIS, have never seen Homeland, and Prison Break.

Is this poll going to be over by Oct? Going way to slow for me to really get into it. Don't remember it being like this last year. Maybe I am just bored from lack of new eps of SPN.

  8. All polls are open for voting for 24hrs.

  9. Homeland for me as well. It had to be one of the most smart written and best new dramatic series. Haven't seen the other 3 shows.

  10. Easy, easy today.

Homeland for half of Season 1 was some of the best TV of the year. Even if it got cliched and went downhill in the second half of the season it was still leaps and bounds beyond what NCIS is.

Arrested Development. No more need be said.

  11. Arrested Development (easily) and NCIS (reluctantly).

I voted for NCIS over Homeland because while the first season of Homeland was fantastic it's only one season. NCIS has almost a decade of shows under its belt and has been a phenomenal success. If Homeland can maintain its quality for 2 or 3 more seasons, I'd have no problem voting for it over NCIS.

  12. Same reason why I voted for NCIS.

  13. Homeland - easy vote, PB was only good for a season for me, AD was great for 3... AD in an easy one as well

  14. Homeland and Prison Break for sure.

  17. Can someone explain to me the appeal of NCIS? I am not trying to criticize the show, I am trying to understand... I watched about 4 or 5 episodes last season and I don't get it :(

  18. I would've voted NCIS for the same reason, but poll is closed! :P

  19. my two favorites win.YEEEEEEES..!!!!

  20. Basically, it's brilliant. It has the drama you'd expect in a crime drama, and it's funny. I thought what you thought, but I watched one episode (S0507; Requiem), and I enjoyed it. I'm now right into it, seen all of S8 and S9. Try watching that one, because I think it is a really good episode.

  21. Glad for NCIS, thought that Homeland might beat one of my favourite shows, so I'm happy. I do see NCIS having a struggle against Prison Break, people really like that.

  22. Will watch that episode... The episodes I watched were the last 5 episodes of some season, all the episodes were basically about one case...

  23. Yeah, and I think if you were already an NCIS fan you'd have enjoyed the storyline. That episode definately got me into it, certaintly enjoyable.
