Thanks to Philomina for the heads up.
Eion Bailey aka August talks "Once Upon a Time" and also about Ben Mercer from "Covert Affairs"
1. How much did you know about your role on "Once upon a time" when you auditioned?
Nothing more than what was stated in his entrance, a stranger, rides in on a motorcycle, typewriter inside a wooden box. I created my own character history from that information, and then I had to change it all when I found out who my character was four episodes later.
2. At what point did you learn about your fairytale character? And do you hope to be able to play your character in the fairytale world sometime?
I caught a false statement in the text, something August said that I knew to be untrue, I asked the writers about it and they decided they couldn't keep the secret from me any longer. They had an interesting plan, they were never honest with me about anything, as far as I can tell, which on some level, they must have thought was a clever way to deal with the actor playing Pinocchio.
3. Do you follow the fan theories about the characters and storylines? Do you and your cast mates yourself spin some theories?
Sure, sometimes, I'm happy to hear someone's theory, in person, I like seeing people excited about their own ideas and all the ways it reveals how they see the world, but online there are just too many, it confuses things.
4. Fans of the show pick up every single detail. Does that affect your work as an actor?
"God is in the details" or the devil, take your pick.

It says in the article that you're only allowed to post the first two questions and then link to the site. It was small and easy to miss, but just figured I'd tell you!
ReplyDeleteAnd why did it take me this long to realize that he was also Ben on Covert Affairs?
I hope his storyline on Covert Affairs will wrap up sometime soon, because it seems he doesn´t want to come back to the show.
ReplyDeleteWow, is he really that much of a dick? The guy CAN'T ACT!!!! He had no chemistry with Piper, he had no chemistry with Yvonne Strahovski in The Canyon. Seriously, he better get a clue before he ends up on the cutting room floor.
ReplyDeleteAnd i feel differently than you, sure he isn't the greatest actor in the world, but i don't think he is as bad as you make him out to be...I saw chemistry between him and Annie,i think we good in Band Of Brothers,i have no idea what The Canyon was....That's the one thing i love about this site, everyone has a different opinion..
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that second point - when I saw in the description that he was commenting on Ben, I literally said "Ohhhhhhhhh..." I didn't realize it until now, either :)
ReplyDeleteWell, given his character broke Annie Walker's heart and was the impetus for her joining the CIA in the first place, and that his character decided to disappear again rather than reunite with her, I'd say it's a little cocky of him to think Annie would still follow him all over the world. She should have dropped him like third period French.
ReplyDeleteHa! Third period French, nice one!! Wait, wasn't Annie already in the CIA when they were on the beach playing honeymooners, not really and yes misspelled. I'm pretty sure she was already in it when he left her there on the beach. And if i'm not mistaken, when he was shot while the two were running after the hospital he went on assignment again,at there request, should say urging....Maybe i just don't remember as well, but these is how i saw it unfold.?
ReplyDeleteI wish the interviewer would have asked how soon it would be before his character jumps back into the story in season two. For all we know, he's still a decorative hunk of wood.
