And the Hollywood Reporter has a story about the cast suing 20th TV.
Modern Family - Season 4 - Table read cancelled as contract renegotiations fall apart, cast sues
Jul 24, 2012
Modern Family
Deadline has the story about how the contract re-negotiations fell apart.
Damn. I hope they can sort this out quickly!
ReplyDeleteWell Ed O'Neil has a massive ego so not surprised by this.
ReplyDeleteExcept Ed's not even involved in this one... (It's the rest of the adult cast)
ReplyDeleteSofia Vergara, one of the highest paid actors on tv today.
ReplyDeleteHe scored 4 TD's in one game for Polk High.So why wouldn't he have an ego.
ReplyDeleteSorry I just have a hate on for Ed after seeing that Emmy roundtable from last year (or 2010 can't remember now)
ReplyDeletegreedy little bitches
ReplyDeleteWhat did he do?
ReplyDeleteWow, I wouldn't have expected this from the Modern Family cast....grow up!! You are making more money than I will ever make!!!!!! Stick them on minimum wage for a while and see how it feels.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Modern Family can't support Suburgatory if they don't make any new episodes. They need to settle this, pronto.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if having a good portion of the cast nominated for Emmys exacerbated the renegotiation fall out...
ReplyDeleteI really dislike those people who just see them as greedy and don't even try to look at this from another point of view.
ReplyDeleteEspecially those who are like "You make more money than I ever will, stop whining." I've seen that on a few websites.
Look, someone ALWAYS makes more money than someone else. Does that usually change the fact that just because you make more, that you don't think you deserve more?
There's a HUGE difference between you and them. For one, they have leverage that they can use, YOU don't. If you give your boss an ultimatum he'll just fire your ass and hire a long line of people who could easily replace you.
The people having these disputes believe they should be paid more and they're fighting for it. The fact that you make less than them does not in any way invalidate that. In the exact same way that someone who makes less than you does not have the ability to invalidate your salary merely because he exists.
Are they being greedy? Oh yeah! Are they wrong for demanding more money? Hell no! It's stupid that it is holding up the show, but that's not entirely their fault. Remember, there's another side involved here who is also holding things up just as much.
People need to look at this from more than one point of view before passing judgment, and while you can inject opinions from your own personal point of view, like the fact that you make less than them, it's kind of irrelevant.
I know many will disagree with me, but using YOUR income as a reason to hate on people with a much higher income is childish.
Not sure why I'm getting so many dislikes on this, its the truth!
ReplyDeleteTell that to some of the starving families across the world!! It IS wrong to demand for more money, movie and tv actors, and athletes are paid WAY too much as it is and yet all they can do is whine about wanting more. Its sickening!
ReplyDeleteAnd whining about how the world works actually makes a difference? I'm sure those starving people really get a high level of comfort from your self-righteous indignation.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like something, find a way to change it, because whining about something you don't like only makes YOU feel better. It's stunning how people can sit there and throw a fit about greed, then do absolutely nothing about it. Because either they've accepted the way the world is and they're just throwing a hissy fit for the sake of personal vindication, or they just like to give people crap.
Whining about a problem and doing nothing about it is just greed of a different kind.
I'm confused...if their original contracts violate this '7 Year Rule', why did they sign it in the first place?
ReplyDeleteMy self-righteous indignation? Oh please. Their is only so much I can do to help those who are starving. I have done what I can to try and make a difference on my salary. But that is irrelevant, what I am saying is the season is in jeopardy because of their silly greed!
ReplyDeleteHope this gets resolved quickly, i just started watching last season and im hooked
ReplyDeleteYou consider THAT the truth? That’s baloney! People should
ReplyDeleteget what they deserve, not just settle out of politeness for the poor. And yes,
I also make near minimum wage.
Please people don't be so ignorant to call them greedy. Yes, they make more than most of us will in a lifetime. But so do all people in the entertainment industry, just look at some of the favorite bands you like.
ReplyDeleteThe real travesty is this, and this is a global thing. People who actually save people's lives like doctors, nurses, police officers, firemen and women, first responders, etc. make way less then these people do. And they actually save lives!
If you are going to be angry, be angry that entertainment is valued more than saving a life.
not really... the show makes a lot of money and now it even has a syndication deal... everyone should get paid accordingly... it's only fair...
ReplyDeletethe demands are usually made with respect to how much money a show makes... You don't see cast of low rated shows making such demands... It's reasonable to ask for a salary rise when you are in the main cast of a beast of a show that is Modern Family... when the show is making so much money, why shouldn't the cast be paid too?
ReplyDeleteOh do you mean the roundtable when he talked about turning down a role cause he was getting paid less than Al Pacino on some HBO mini-series? that
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll complain about how much they'll make, seeing as the TV companies will make millions more. Just make sure this show gets on the air!
