Modern Family - Season 4- Kids re-negotiating contracts now

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the four main young stars are set to begin next week their own contract renegotiations with studio 20th Century Fox Television. These talks are not expected to be as contentious as the just-concluded adult negotiations (which led to a lawsuit and a boycotted table read), and the kids are expected to show up to work next week as production on the Emmy-winning show's fourth season begins on the Fox lot. But sources say the reps for the child actors, who have waited in the wings until the adults made their deals, will now be seeking big raises for their clients in exchange for adding an eighth season to their seven-season contracts.
This should probably go better than the adults.

Honestly, aside from Ty Burrell and Ed O'Neill, I think most of the kid's are funnier or at least are more deserving than most of the adult cast. Good for them for renegotiating.
ReplyDeleteAll four kids are an essential part of the show - some even more than the adults. I do believe that all cast members make the magic that is Modern Family, but the younger cast members could probably hold an episode or two on their own.

ReplyDeleteNo, it does not guarantee an 8th season. That will be based on C3 ratings versus cost of producing the show (otherwise know as "Is everyone still making a profit?") However with contracts in place it makes it easier to know the costs of the show and keeps them from having any nasty surprises when it comes to negotiating final deals. Overall it's a good sign.
ReplyDeleteI hope all of this ends soon and we will soon start hearing more about what's in store for the upcoming season than what each of them is earning.
