Mindy Kaling is getting some witty new company on her upcoming Fox comedy. The Mindy Project has cast three new actors on the buzzworthy show, including two who will be series regulars.
First up is Gossip Girl veteran Amanda Setton. She’ll play Shauna Dicanio, described as “the tenacious, Jersey-born office manager of [Mindy's medical practice]; a woman who collects unpaid patient bills like she’s a bounty hunter.”
Next is veteran character actor Stephen Tobolowsky (Glee) as Dr. Marc Shulman — the head of Mindy’s practice. He’s “always excited to wax philosophical, especially if his advice gets the younger staff to leave him alone.”
Both Setton and Tobolowsky will be on the show full time.
In a recurring role, Ike Barinholtz (MADtv, and a Mindy Project executive story editor) plays Morgan Tookers, a new male nurse at Mindy’s medical practice. He’s an ex-con who was hired despite “an apparent lack of tact, hygiene, or formal qualifications.” He’s further described as “fiercely loyal to his co-workers, and he makes it his personal mission to help them find love and happiness.”
