Thanks to TV.COM for sharing this with us.
We've seen an early version of The CW's new superhero drama; though anything could change before the show's official debut, here's what we thought at first glance. Hint: It was better than we expected!

the series will be a total ..//BLAST.// if the writers dont screw it the develop of the storyline keep in hot and a lot of fighting action sequence and some romance
ReplyDeleteVery excited about this show. Not for the show itself since I am not a big fan of comics in movies or TV but more for its potential as a lead-in for Supernatural. This looks to be a great pairing.
ReplyDeleteI will check this out but the promo seems a little to full of CW SOPs for my taste; several elements that I am growing bored with.
ReplyDeleteI am going to try to like this show but no promises. I already know I will be gritting my teeth through every episode because it's narrated (hopefully that will change as they dropped it from TVD, along with the smoke and the crow). I am a comic book expert extraordinaire and I am already a tad perturbed about the liberties they have taken and all of the made up characters (with Smallville, outside the case of the week, Chloe was the only made up character in the inner circle, here everyone is). They seem like small changes to the uninitiated (kind of like with GoT when Renly ate the apple instead of a peach).
ReplyDeleteToo used to crusty, OLD Oliver Queen. The second re-launch was environmentally themed even having an issue about a drunk oil tanker captain that runs his rig aground. Loved that series. I may be getting too old, too fast!
ReplyDeletenarrated? Really? *THIS* show? Expectation...lowered.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting more and more hopeful about this. Will definitely check it out, maybe it'll be worth a while.
ReplyDeleteI think the promos might be narrated not the episodes themselves. The Beauty and the Beast (CW) promos were narrated as well.
ReplyDeleteN0, the series is definitely narrated, it's in the official description somewhere, can't remember where I found it, but definitely narrated. I hope I misread it, I really do.
ReplyDeleteI want it to succeed for that very reason as well but, I think SPN has as many fans as it's going to get. This is the 8th season and that's a very daunting task to embark on. I know there's netflix and season DVD's but I started in mid season three and that was kind of daunting because this show isn't for casual viewing by any stretch of the imagination. I started watching mid-season three and felt utterly lost. But over that summer hiatus, I ordered all of the available season dvd's and read the wiki and checked out ALL of the fan forums to get the whole picture. The CW demo that is most likely to be watching Arrow, probably won't be that willing to put in the work to understand Team Winchester. But fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing of a huge number of people finding Supernatural on Netflix right now and racing through the seasons. Now I doubt any of them are Nielsen viewers but there seems to be a bunch of new SPN. In all honesty, I don't expect SPN to hit a 0.9 demo ever again but it would be great if we maintained without ever dropping down in season 8.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear. I want/need SPN to do well Team Winchester deserves it after all of this time. I've been doing my Carver episode watch today and feel hopeful.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I got where they got the narration for Beauty and the Beast from (it's something I remember from the show in the 80s) but the concept doesn't fit with a Superhero action show at all. Hopefully, they'll drop it after the pilot.
ReplyDeleteI think the premiere will rise to over 4 million viewers and this will be great for Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteWell, I could see where they'd go for narration with a story about a "super" hero, just for animation, not live action. Or maybe it could be the fact that they think not a lot of people know who Green Arrow is or what his motivations are,. Shrugs. They only show I've seen where it works is Dexter (and even last season they were wearing it and it started to grind my nerves a bit).
ReplyDeleteI think 4 million is too optimistic. The CW will surely be thrilled with 3.2 million or basically anything equal or better to what the Vampire Diaries gets when it premieres.
ReplyDeleteI was having a conversation with someone recently about how many people making television still, after all this time, make television like it's just radio with pictures. It occurs to me that voice overs only enhances that feeling.
ReplyDeleteI think this show can rise more viewers than than the premiere of Nikita (3.7 million). Maybe I'm optimistic but really I think so.
