Eastbound and Down - Renewed for season 4 after all !
3 Jul 2012
Eastbound and DownSeason 3 was supposed to be the end of the road for Kenny fucking Powers, since Jody Hill and Danny McBride had said a while ago that the 21st chapter of the series would be its last. That announcement of the end of the show was done a month before the release of Your Highness (from the E&D crew : directed by David Gordon Green / written by Ben Best & Danny McBride (also starring)), the $50 million (disappointing) comedy that grossed $25 million worldwide. Two days before episode 3.08 (the supposed series finale) aired, Jody Hill wasn't so sure that there would be no season 4.
And now it's official : there will be new episodes of Eastbound and Down, HBO renewed the show for a fourth season.
This is a pleasant announcement, first because Eastbound & Down is a superb comedy everyone should watch, and also because until the renewals of Veep and Girls in April, it felt like HBO was trying to get rid of all its half-hour series (with In Treatment, Entourage, How to Make it in America, Hung & the amazing Bored to Death ending / being cancelled in 2011 (+ The Life & Times of Tim cancelled recently), and still nothing official on the future of the brilliant Curb your Enthusiasm).
A few hours ago, HBO also renewed True Blood and The Newsroom.

This is awesome news!
ReplyDeleteCurb Your Enthusiasm is renewed by Larry David. If Larry wants another season there is going to be another season. That's what i've read, and the last season was the highest in ratings.
ReplyDeleteThat's also what I've read, that if Larry wants to do a ninth season then there'll be a ninth season. Only LD hasn't said anything yet, and it's been 10 months since season 8 ended. Some HBO exec said that last year was the first time Larry didn't say "I never want to do this again" after wrapping up the 8th season, and that it was "a promising start" (http://screenrant.com/curb-enthusiasm-season-9-hbo-yman-126242/) . But as long as I don't see anything official, I'll still be a little worried. Come on, LD !
ReplyDeleteWell, there's another thing I didn't see coming. I love this show, just wish Bored to Death would come back, too.
